This machine has taken the vertical wood splitter to another level. The engineering and thought that has gone into this machine is pretty impressive. If I was in the market for one of these, this would be my choice. I think your getting a good bang for your buck in comparison to everything else that's on the market in this category. The other guys are either gonna have to lower their prices or improve their machines...simple as that. I think you guys are gonna be real busy making these.
WOLF Ridge log spiter has them all bet FIRE on the hill And Rick's out doors spiting those large rounds it is just the best log splters out there.❤❤❤❤🎉
I would add a grab handle to each side of the conveyor outfeed. Looks like a great machine. Love that engine. Also needs to be painted in your signature Wolf Ridge Red, your signature color. That color looks too much like one of your competitors.
Great splitter, most impressive to me is the lack of slack on the wonky pieces, if some of those were on a horizontal splitter the significant amount of slash created would blow my mind. Ordered my 17vs two weeks ago, can't wait.
Nice machine! If I didn’t already have my Axis I would definitely look at this. I bet Mike from KNL would find a spot at the Hoosier Firewood Hysteria in April for people to see one in action. I think you will probably sell more vertical machines as people see how well they work.
Very nice machine. If I could afford 2 splitters I definitely get that one also. Feel free to do video with old blue before makes trip to Idaho. Keep up the great work team.
Hi, that is a beautiful splitter. I really think your splitter is a high quality machine. I think everyone should own a vertical splitter so I really hope you sell a lot of these .
@@BacktoBob1 OK that’s great. I actually sent Chris at Wolfridge a message telling him I would be willing to haul one there for him from St. Louis but I guess you’re gonna be there. That’s awesome.
To reduce the kick out of logs while splitting, you could add a grid of weldbeads under the splitter head. That would give the logs something to grip while being split without adding too much resistance while manipulating the logs.
We are planning to test this before adding. These logs were really twisted grain, and I don't know if anything would have helped much for some of them. I had to hold some of them crooked to split.
@@WolfeRidgeSplitters Yeah, it's got to be a tricky thing... Grip enough to hold wood but not too much to hinder sliding the wood under the wedge. That is one of those things where the best that can be done is a less than ideal compromise. Excellent job Chris. You all should be proud of this baby!
hi there bob looks like you sped up the cycle time a bit , i like that , what is the warranty on the engine and the electric dash board , . than the big question what is the price point . thanks good show john

It needs a Wolf Ridge brand logo sticker on this side of the machine . The operator station is the side you will always see on Y tube, no one ever films from the front. If there is one thing Andrew Easton did correctly it's connecting his brand with two colors, when you see a green tractor do you question what brand it is? The Wolf Ridge logo is what represents your brand, when you see it there is no question at all. Marketing matters boys.
The 17VS-C IS THE BEST VERTICAL SPLITTER ON THE MARKET IT PRODUCES BETTER WOOD WITH MINIMUM WASTE, YOU CAN CHOOSE THE SIZE SPLITS OF WOOD YOU WANT AND IT PROVIDES A BETTER FINISHING PRODUCT FOR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE IN RESTAURANTS AND HEATING THEIR HOMES,
Been waiting for this one! Excellent! Certainly rivals Allen family firewood splitter on speed. I do think Dana's ( s'more firewood channel ) design for gravity feed linkage is extremely clever along with a flow control and so that edges your out in that, but bar none, YOURS IS THE BEST VERTICAL SPLITTER BEING MANUFACTURED AND SHOWN CURRENTLY. Everything else being built now has got a lot of catching up to do if you ask me. A LOT....... Your splitter works so well that the conveyor has trouble keeping up. I'm not sure but maybe something on the paddles of the conveyor to grab the wood better/quicker or maybe a little wider trough?? I don't think the conveyor is fully optimized BUT It's a nice problem to have when a manufacturer makes a single wedge splitter that can outrun a conveyor and not vice versa ha, ha. Maybe that's the key..... Take a sip of water, soda or whatever while you wait for the conveyor to catch up. That way a person can stay hydrated while they work. Man, you guys think of everything 🙂 Thanks for the video. Going to watch this again now. Bob, keep 'em coming. Enjoying them.
Thank you! We made a slight change after shooting this video, will be much better at picking up the wood out of the hopper and put a faster motor on it as well. Thanks for watching!
@@BacktoBob1 Thanks to you and Chris. Not sure how this was received but I want you and Chris to know that I was not being negative. I did make lite of the small conveyor issue but was not trying to be a jerk or anything. Thanks again for the videos. This machine is really, really good.
That was a very impressive demonstration.. Does the conveyor have a adjustable speed control so you could shoot the splits to the other side of the trailer. The wolf would standout better with a contrasting color, ie. black on the orange. Glad to see a vertical with conveyor made in the USA . Next a firewood processor along the line of a finish brand possible?
We are 8 ft wide now, would have to be a separate unit in this configuration. That being said, I still have some other ideas for the engineers to work on!

Thanks for the video. I’m curious if the conveyor is more useful for those dumping straight into a trailer or totes than those stacking their firewood. I really do like the conveyor feature and am leaning that way but also don’t mind saving money if it ends up being not as useful for one production method vs. another. Thanks.
If you are stacking, I would stick with the 17VS without conveyor. 17VSC works best for filling totes, bags and into dump trailer without stacking. Thanks!

Maybe diamond plate or even a sand texture in the powder coat. I could see myself getting gut-punched by a gnarly hickory crotch!
I noticed that you use hydraulic hoses the whole length of the conveyor, with the high cost of hydraulic hose and for a cleaner look wouldn't it be better to use steel line for the long runs with short supply hoses on the ends? Initial cost may be higher but repairs would be less costly and I think it would look better. Good video.
I am not sure how much it would save on cost, but know that hoses can be made at any hydraulic shop in the country in no time. If a steel line fails for the customer, they will be waiting days for a replacement part from us...
Chris is getting good at running a vertical. It'd be awesome if you could do a radial stacking attached conveyor on a horizontal machine. For high production cord wood.
I would say the VS is better for these reasons and more. Honda iGX engine with electric start standard - start the engine and adjust throttle from the operators position. The stroke length limiter on the VS is quick and easy to adjust, the log lifter goes up all the way so you can use the weight of the log to slide itself onto the table.
