Summer of 2021 I was looking for a 28 pro. The dealer in PA said it would be a few months backordered. He then called me later to let me know a 28C was available as the customer canceled their order. I jumped on it and I'm so glad I did. Autocycle alone is worth the upgrade!
Great video Bob, comparing the two gives people a clear view of what the differences between the machines are. And like you said adding the options to the 28 Pro will get you close to the 28 C price. Keep up the awesome work up!
Great job Bob! I spent a lot of time doing my own comparison before this video. This simplified the comparison between the two making it an easier decision for folks. Waiting for my 28c to be delivered. Think it might be the one behind you in the gun metal. Looking forward to bringing her home!
Great comparison! This will be a great video for anyone trying to decide between the two! Also enjoyed seeing how my 17RS compares to the two splitters.
I was hoping you were going to do this video. I think a lot of folks were like me at first. I thought these two were the same machine and people were calling them different names until I researched. Great comparison, Bob! Well done, sir.👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Hello new sub from East Tennessee,I run a business but don't have a pro splitter yet I think these might be stronger in my area, maybe one day I can get a wolf ridge and help it get in this region, thanks for videos,I'll binge watch them now.lol
I was going to get the 28 pro but after talking with Ben I decided the 28c was the better option. Im glad I got the 28c. It’s been an awesome machine. Once you add electric start and auto cycle to the pro like i wanted you’re within 2k of the 28c which comes with all that stuff standard plus the bigger engine, bigger pump l, magnum big bore package, and bigger hydraulic tank. 6.5 second cycle time vs 10.5 is a world of difference. But if you’re on a tight budget, or just a homeowner wanting to speed up the time it takes to process wood and save your back, the 28 pro is a great option.
HAY BOB, WICKED COOL VIDEO. I LIKE THE ONE OLE SHIF ( D ) GOT. BUT I LIKE THE PRO TOO. I THINK YOU GUYS ARE DOIN' A KILLER JOB. AND AS SOON AS I AM ABLE, I WOULDN'T MIND OWNIN' ONE OF THOSE BEUITYS. KINDA LIKE THE PRO WITH THE ADD-ONS. STAY COOL AND KEEP PUSHIN' ON GUYS. PEACE FROM CREEL CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO. SAY HAY TO CHRIS...
I've had both, my 28pro was pre-covid built very solid machine. I had 300 plus hours and no problems with it. I traded it in June of 22 for the 28c and with in few months the hydraulic pump started leaking. The cycle time was way off, much slower. I contacted w.r. and they did send out a new pump at no charge. Ok, fixed that problem. On October 23, at 150 hours the log lift cylinder starts leaking. Contacted w.r. , their response was 'sorry out of warranty' they said 'we can sell you one' but with i declined. I took it to local shop and had it resealed for $75. The technician told me that it was a cheap cylinder (china). So now, my push cylinder started leaking recently at 168 hours. For the cost of the machine i am very disappointed! A cylinder should last longer than a couple hundred hours. I guess buyers beware...
Hi Dave. I apologize for the issues you have had and are having. Please send us an email with photos of the leaky cylinder and your serial number. Thanks!
I have the 28Pro C. Good machine, my only comments for improvements - go back to the standard 2" hitch instead of the pin style. That small retaining wire cable is bound to break over time causing loss of the pin and cotter and its not as easy as just throwing a lever down like a standard hitch. Also, that newer style cartridge filter is pretty difficult to find a replacement out there. Very few options that I could find.
@BacktoBob1 I picked up a used 28Pro at the firewood frenzy 2 years ago. Have a out 400 hours on it. Little concerned about the cycle time as it is now my bottle neck. Not sure if I could have a bad pump. Thoughts on a trade difference in $. Take care.
Hey Woodstr, we can get you a new pump to make her good as new. Shoot me an email at wolferidgemfg@gmail.com and we can get you fixed up. We can also do a trade in on the machine as well
Bob you only made one mistake on this video. You said you hoped this made sense with all the options and upgrades...Wolfe Ridge always makes sense!! I've have just over 400 hours on my 28c. See you at HFH or Joe's expo.

Excellent job comparing the splitters!!!I think you did a great job clearly defining the differences!! Well done Sir!!!
Thank you very much!
Great comparison video. Explained a lot in an easy to understand format. Thanks Bob.

Thank you David!
Thanks for going through the difference.. 😉👍
You're welcome and thank you for watching!
@BacktoBob1 , don't listen to him. He orders his splitters built backward!
@thefirewooddoctor : Hey, now I like my backward splitter 😂😂

I miss my pro was a great splitter. It made me the money to sell it and buy the SHO in under a year.
Its a great machine for sure, thanks Matt!

If the 28PRO was available with auto-cycle when I bkught my first Wolfe Ridge splitter, would've bought that instead of the 28C I have now.
The 28 Pro is an awesome machine even with OUT the auto cycle. BUT, I will say auto cycle is a game changer.

Hi Bob. Thanks for the quick response. I will do that talk to you soon!
Is it possible to have a small video of the light tower,.
How bright at dark it would be.
Thanks soon to be owner Scott

Bob Nelson on the 17v-s does it only come with a seventeen ton cylinder on it
Indeed. Hard to believe, but yes the 17VS and VS-C are 17 ton. Have yet to see one not split something.
@@BacktoBob1 yes sir I have. I’ve just used to my 32 ton splitter.
Do you have a Canadian distributor and which province. Thank you for sharing.
We can ship direct to you in Canada. Please contact sales@wolferidgemfg.com for more information. Thanks!
Hello Bob one day I want the 35sho box wedge unit . I got to make a lot of RUclips to pay for one 😂
