Let my try an A310 cockpit preparation in a nutshell: What you do is basically switch on the batteries, test the APU fire loop and squib, start APU, go into the fms to check database and then go directly to init A page, switch on left, right and middle IRS, check the aircraft coordinates via REF > GPS monitor page on the other fms, and correct coordinates on the init A page and hit ALIGN IRS, then go up to the isdu (right below left IRS), and check if those coordinates have been taken over. Then you can start with the overhead panel flow column by column, from bottom to top and left to right. Switch on the signs, the dome light (only cockpit lights at EMER Elec config), then FLT RCDR to GND CTL. When you are at the lights, switch the strobe in "Auto" and NAV/Logo in "1" or "2" (if equipped), all others OFF. We call it the "U". All the Pitch trim, yaw damper and ATS levers UP, check the squib and loop of ENG 1, and ENG 2 once you are there. Yes, you switch on every fuel pump, even if the fuel tank is empty, or even if the ACTs are not installed, as the auto fuel feed will be impaired and the CG can not be controlled. Switch on window and probe heat, once the covers are off. Switch on and check oxygen is at least between 1400 and 2000 PSI. EMER exit lights to ARM. You can select ECON FLOW with less than 160 PAX on board. So bottomline, you basically switch all white lights off on the overhead panel. Right after that, i set up the EFB, get the ATIS and calculate my take off performance. Then i fill the FMS with the weights, flight plan, take off speeds etc. On the Prog page, we use bearing distance for the EOSID fix, and depending on Pilot flying from left or right, the corresponding other side is used to tune a VOR station (e.g. if CM1 is flying, we put in a VOR or DME station in Remote 2 (right side) at the bottom of the Prog page, that assures, that Remote 2 isn't autotuning any other undesired stations, for a departure or EOSID). Now that i have done my calculations with the EFB before and know, that there are no performance issues with the planned departure, i start setting up the FCU. In the Speed window, we dial in the V2, then press the knob to activate a preset and dial in at least 250 knots, or take off weight + 120 Knots, whichever is higher. The preset gets activated, when for example during engine failure, where u deactivate the PROF mode and select the ALT hold mode at the acclereation altitude, the vertical mode changes, and an acceleration to the preselected speed is required. During normal operation in PROF mode, this speed will be disregarded, as there is no Mode change. The preset function can also be used, when descending to fl100 for example and you want to keep 310 knots, until reaching your altitude, and then slow down to 250 kts. Once ALT* appears, the vertical mode has changed, and your preset speed is activated, or it can also be used to change from 310 knots, to Mach 0.80 at you crossover altitude for climb Modes any other than PROF. Just remember, the preset speed is very useful and gets activated, whenever there is a vertical mode change. On the EFIS control panel we set the minimum to -5 and in the FPA window wie dial in the trim Setting for the elevator as a reminder. Then i do the panel on the side, check the switching, check the mask, and check that the RAT lever is stowed and guarded. After that i set up the flight instruments, dial in the QNH and the Engine Out acceleration altitude, on the stand by airspeed indicator we bug V2 and the Green Dot Speed (until 20000ft it is your current aicraft weight + 100. So at 130 tons, your green dot speed is 230 kts). Then hit the EGPWS button, just short, and check the ND for a test pattern and some EGPWS call outs, set the Gear Position Determination System to A for odd, or B for even days (same with ignition A or B later for engine start). Test the Gear Warning. Dial in the current airport elevation, set up the thrust rating panel. Go through the engine instruments and finally set up the pedestal with some frequencies, insert the ILS frequency of the runway that is used in case of an immediate return (gives also a centerline indication during take off run, if it's the same runway), set ADF 1 to an NDB in the departure sector, and ADF2 to the Outer Marker of the return runway, set up the transponder, depending on pilot flying, either ATC 1 or 2. Pilot Monitoring would at least check the cockpit and all the levers for their correct and corresponding position before Pilot flying is setting up the aircraft, then check the emergency gear, do the light test, and the brake check in the meantime. So on the center console right below the speed brake, press the accu button, to energize the yellow hydraulic system accumulator, note that the accu press pointer on the brake indicator moves into the green marking. the brake press indication should be 1500 PSI or more with parking brake on. Switch brakes to ALTN/ON, release parking brake and press the brake pedals, indication should be 2400 PSI at full pedal deflection, then release brake pedals, and set parking brake, also press accu button again and switch back to NORM/ON. Whats different in the real aircraft: to insert the approach, you have to select the left line select key (LAT Revision) of any waypoint that is above the airport on the FPL page. I know, with modern airbus, you can hit the destination airport, but not on the 310. That way, it would insert the approach behind your destination. I guess that's it so far. Can't think of more at the moment. Let me know, if you have specific questions. PS: Fuel lever on at 15% minimum, we use mostly 18% N2 :P To check for correct engine parameters after ENG start, we use the "20, 40, 60" method, which means form top to bottom the N1 should be at around 24%, EGT at about 400 degrees C, and N2 around 65%

Great video as always V1. Just a quick correction, though, and this is weird because I consider you the Jedi Master. I've been watching all the preview videos on RUclips from iniBuilds and Airline2Sim, and they all pointed out that you don't have to turn off the PACKS in the A300-600. It was designed to be smarter than Boeing planes like the modern Airbuses. You can even hear the PACKS shutdown when you turn the start selector switch to A or B.
Correct as on the 320 you dont need to actually turn the packs off for start. I assumed that you would in the 300 but it appears Airbus was smarter from the get go with auto pack cut off.

X-Plane is not going to die, clearly you have no understanding of what Laminar do. Good luck with MSFS, all I can say is, it's not going to be what serious sim users are expecting.
@@topaviator I know enough about what MSFS are up to to be able to make an informed comment. I also know a lot about Laminar and what they are up to and to suggest RIP is completely wrong. FYI the same immature and factually incorrect statements were made when MS Flight was announced, when Dovetail was announced and when P3D was announced. What happened? X-Plane's user base got bigger each time. MSFS will have exactly the same effect. More than that I am not allowed to say
@@topaviator Show me some facts and figures that show how many X-Plane and P3D users are going to completely dump their sims and move to MSFS. You can't, because there are no figures. I run one of the biggest X-plane groups on Facebook and whilst many will buy MSFS, very few are going to dump X-Plane because of it. I am not going to argue anymore because you clearly have no real facts with which to back up your original comment and my time is worth much more than trying to argue against someone who cannot provide any logical reasoning behind their sweeping statements. X-Plane is not going to die, clearly you have no understanding of what Laminar do. Good luck with MSFS, all I can say is, it's not going to be what serious sim users are expecting.
@@JasonRowPhotography and u don't know what msfs 2020 are up to and whats there future plane beyond what u've seen
@@JasonRowPhotography ok let me ask you this why xplane and p3d users are now planning for the new msfs2020,why?
@@topaviator Show me some facts and figures that show how many X-Plane and P3D users are going to completely dump their sims and move to MSFS. You can't, because there are no figures. You simply have no basis for your argument other than you think it makes you look clever. It does not. I run one of the biggest X-plane groups on Facebook and whilst many will buy MSFS, very few are going to dump X-Plane because of it. Beyond that, even if every single consumer X-Plane user stopped using it (which they won't), Laminar would still be in business because the consumer sim is not their core business, FAA commercial sims and high end aviations apps are their major source of revenue.P3D is in a very similar situation. I am not going to argue anymore because you clearly have no real facts with which to back up your original comment and my time is worth much more than trying to argue against someone who cannot provide any logical reasoning behind their sweeping statements. Have a great day.
