      @@superluigi8539 I always assumed they were coconuts, seeing as how - that's what they look like, and that's what the Mini-Neckys used to spit/cough at you in DKC1, so Squawks doing it was just a carry-over from that game. How anyone would gets eggs from what are clearly coconuts is beyond me. It seems like a deliberate trolling/Mandala Effect going on by people choosing to be obtuse for "teh lulz" in the same vein of people claiming that Krow, the first boss from DKC2, is "a girl actually" because they've heard others referring to Krow as a "chick" and assume they mean "chick as in female", when in reality, they're calling Krow a "chick" as in "a chick is what baby birds are called" - and since Krow is modeled on the Mini-Neckys which are meant to be baby versions of the fully grown adult Necky, it would stand to reason that he (Krow) is only a baby - a chick if you will.
      This weird insistence of treating misinformation and lies/falsehoods as "fact" and that everyone who doesn't believe what you believe are, at best, morons and at worst, "sheeple who need to wake up to the 'truth'," that has been going on since 2015/2016 is absolutely frustratingly exhausting and I'm honestly over it.

  • @pubcle

    I think you should have mentioned how the music helps offset the frustration players may feel at the difficulty spike. It's a soothing, calm piece that says to slow down, relax, you've got this just take it easier.

  • @themanwithsauce

    I've never heard it put into words before, but the bramble levels really are the "skill checks" of the game. The first one is all about timing and navigation. Can you understand how to orient yourself and time your button presses to get through the barrel maze? Until you get timing down, you can't pass. Bramble Scramble is all about climbing and confidence and adapting to animal buddies with limited movement - you are fenced in by the brambles. Screech's sprint is a final exam of being able to read enemy patterns and execute movement quickly. And animal antics is the platformer equivalent of one of those music compilation CDs - "NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL DONKEY KONG COUNTRY: VOLUME 2!"

    I always knew the song "Stickerbrush Symphony" as "Bramble Scramble" when I was a kid, because this stage was so freakin good. I loved this stage, by far my favorite in the whole game. So memorable, and well done analysis!

      I still get endless enjoyment over how contested the inclusion or lack thereof of the R in brush is.
      Only gets this exciting when the topic is Electrodrome vs dome or Sweet Dreams being made of these.
      I mostly know these as Bramble Blast, but Scramble is the very next word I consider.

    • @Accrovideogames
      @Accrovideogames 9 месяцев назад +3

      @@runningoncylinders3829 Brush is a type of vegetation that is characterized by its dense and often tangled growth, while bush refers to a woody plant that is typically smaller than a tree and has multiple stems or branches. It's pretty clear that brush is the correct word to describe the thorny plants found in DKC2.
      The suffix -drome is used to form words that refer to a course or a larger place for a special purpose, while dome is a standalone word that refers to a rounded roof. It's extremely obvious which one is correct within the context of a course in Mario Kart.

    Hands down my favourite level in the game! My favourite part is after the checkpoint, when you blind jump over the bramble to land straight on a Squawks crate and right back into Squawks’ talons. I don’t know why, just always feels so cool. And I just love Squawks, he’s my favourite animal buddy. Feels so good whizzing through the Zingers and bramble with his impeccable control once you get good at it. It’s a really good compliment to the kinetic on the ground gameplay of Diddy and Dixie.

  • @BakiReggie
    @BakiReggie 2 года назад +31

    Ok the fact that I only now know that Diddy and Dixie don't count as hurtboxes when they grab Squawks is mindblowing to me. Knowing that would have made this level so less stressful on the first try xD
    But yeah, Bramble Scramble is incredible by aesthetic alone, but this video really give it justice. Amazing job!!!
    Also Squawks is legit one of my fave DK characters. I love this silly bird.

    When I was little, the first time I saw Squawks was in Squawks Shaft, being played by my older brother and some friends. I have a weird mandela effect about it because I distictly remember Squawks spiting red sparks from its beak, instead of... eggs? Coconuts? Whatever Squawks spits. The spark would fly horizontally, in a slow, wavy fashion. As a little kid I never questioned why a parrot would shoot something like that; I remember seeing Squawks' attack only once so maybe that's why my eyes misinterpreted what was happening

  • @someoneout-there2165

    Omg I can't believe Squawks was throwing eggs until you mentioned it. In my childhood, I thought he was throwing crackers, cause you know, he's a parrot and in my childhood crackers being fed to parrots was common place by pirates. I think I'll continue thinking those are crackers, eggs out the mouth seems a bit uncomfortable for the bird XD

A friend that I would use to tick off my real life friends when I would pick it on purpose back when we used to play levels for fun on our multiplayer file >:) Just found this DKC series and deffo gonna be binging through that hehe, the og trilogy are my favorite platformers of all time.

    It's easily the most memorable level name in the entire DKC series after Jungle Hijinx. I remember being soooo disappointed with the Bramble Scramble stage in Tropical Freeze, and when I asked myself why, it's because this stage was a turning point in DKC2 from great to one of the greatest of all time.

It was one of the Bonus Set (read: for glitch and otherwise "unsuitable for Core set) cheevs, worth 100 points. • @turntsnaco824
    @turntsnaco824 2 года назад +1

    This level......I was attempting a no-death run of this game one time, because I'd replayed it every year since I was a kid and it felt like it only made sense as a way to raise the stakes. I died once in the third world (swamp), but decided I would see if I could still get by on just one death....
    This.......level.......
    I think I got halfway without dying.....then I died. Okay, it had to happen again sometime I guess. Then I died again. And again....and again. I died 20 times. Eventually I lost count. I was absolutely tilted....I couldn't finish the level at all and I had to turn the game off. I didn't play for months after that.
    The next time I played, I almost beat Bramble Scramble on my first try, dying to the last enemy right before the goal. Then I beat it on my second attempt. I couldn't believe how much trouble it gave me that run, but I definitely gained new respect for it on that day.
