Same I too was way too scared to go there and only went because of La Bombona diving school. I think you will be okay if you mind your business and especially not argue with locals. Thats a good rule of thumbs anywhere when you are traveling I guess. Definitely understand why you would want to avoid tho.

We are constantly working towards helping Sri Lanka, as you might see if you check the rest of our channel, we have dedicated the past 3 years to it. Also, we do help Sri Lankan charities financially in our capacity in private, we dont feel the need to show case all of our charity work online, we only share it if we are helping the charity raise awareness to bring in more funds for them. Which we have done on this channel before as well. I think you should focus this energy on corrupt politicians and not on ppl who have worked hard to achieve their dreams.

Koh tao's beautiful but it's one island I will always avoid thanks to it's history of murders and thug families who own most of the island.
