I had Hadi winning. I have nothing but respect for Derek. He clearly put in a lot of work and had marked improvements to his physique, but in my opinion not enough to surpass Hadi. I think it's unfortunate the judges didn't feel the same way.

Dorian is right. No way Samson is 300 pounds (136 kg). That means bigger than the biggest version of Ronnie, bigger than Ruhl, bigger than Rami. But it doesn't look that big not even in this 202 lineup.
Yeah it’s bizarre. Not sure where all the weights going. You look at someone like nasser el sonbaty and he was only about 280 but he looked 300. Same with Paul dillet who was only about 260-270 at his biggest. Maybe it’s water weight.
I love Dorian but he’s always throwing shade towards the newer guys. Weight doesn’t mean bigger it means heavier. Andrea presti weighs more than Derek Lunsford and Hadi Choopan but he is not bigger than them. He may be taller and heavier but he isn’t as big from a muscular standpoint. Samson could have much denser bones, his height needs to be taken into account, and he very well may have more developed lower half than most of those guys you just named. The lower half accounts for a ton of weight. I don’t see why Samson and Milos would lie about his weight.. it’s not like them saying that helps them on stage in any way shape or form.

And at the last seconds of the video you can clearly see the lumps under Derek's armpits when he lifts his arms in victory. Also Samson is taller than 5'11 but his is not heavier than Ronnie from 2003(292). Ronnie was 265 in 1999, Nasser was 270-280 at 5'11...

Judges got it spot on. Your freeze Frame on the back and side poses clearly show Derek having more details which at the level is hard to do without giving up size. Plus Hadid may have the size but his wide hips throw off his symmetry making him look less bigger. You can see on the ab and thigh pose he twists his hips to give himself a small V-taper unlike Derek who clearly poses straight on without the side hip twist. Judges see this and put off points. The Devil is in the details. Great video!

Those lat lumps are not necessarily synthol, some body builders have a lat and trap genetic that can be shape that way.
