I have owned this camera for 6 months now and I love it. Highly recommend it for both photography and videography. I currently use it with the Sigma 16mm f/1.4, Sony Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 and Tamron 70mm-180mm f/2.8 lenses. I have produced some amazing photos and videos with it.
LOVE the two-tone body! I took a 35mm film class last year at school and it reminds me of all the hard work we did there. Reminiscent of some of the roots of photography
Not going to lie, it's very refreshing to not only see a camera review from a female photographer but also from a fellow Australian :) Great review! Very objective and detailed, covering all the info we could ever need!
Wow great, this camera really look so pretty and compact, a great camera for photojournalist and wedding photographers, great photos as always Julia !!!
SO CRAZY! I'm so excited and surprised that your review is out at the same time as the announcement. For a couple years I feel like your reviews of Sony gear were a year or two following a release. AHHH. ... will comment again after watching. Lol.
I'm so excited too!! It was really fun getting a pre release camera here in Australia :) Maybe I should upload an updated review in a years time to keep up with my trend haha
@@juliatrotti Do you still happen to have the unit? I'm wondering if the record button, provided it is set to record in video mode only, can be programmed as a custom button in light of having nixed four of the a7iii's customizable buttons. Specifically, it may be a dealbreaker for me if I can't use the record button to toggle on-off AF.
You make every camera professional. That's crazy, I always thought i would have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a camera or lenses but you just take the maximum out of it!
this is a 2k camera with proper lenses 1k on top of the body, so yes, you have to spend couple of thousands of dollars if you want this camera, which by the way is crippled, you are better of with a7iii, which is better for the same or lower price
@@kristiankaraneshev7528 autofocus system is from the new a7s III, which is much better, so you cant really say that. In those terms a7mk3 is actually a lot worse.
@@mailmanonfire ok, af is a better, especially for video, but the inability to turn of the efsc buggs me, basically this camera wont be practical for shutter speeds faster than 1/1000
Wow!!! What a detailed review.. giving total idea of how the real footage/images and audio will be like. Also highlighting what filters you use. Really superb work 👌
Thanks for giving the camera a fair chance in its review. Other tubers reviewing this camera didn’t even bother to focus on its photography aspect because of how small it is.
Great work! I just saw another photographer saying that this camera isn't that good for portraiture but great for video. It's good to have more than one opinion! I now have 3 favorite models from your videos, Leticia is gorgeous! See you on the next one!
very nice real world test i like this kind of practical usage test. the lab tests pretty much mean nothing without these kind of reviews. thanks guys well done
You DO have an instant backup, if you just use FTP functionality of the camera to your phone even if you don't have dual card slots. This is perfect for weddings if you don't insist on raw. Also this backup is still there if you loose the camera.
The best review I've ever seen on a camera, thank you very much if possible I would like to know which lenses you indicate to start using for photography
The only think I appreciate with the Sony a7C is its small size without serious disadvantages like the Canon RP's lack of IBIS or the Sigma fp's lack of EVF. I am a travel amateur photographer. A small full frame camera is discrete and comfortable which are both very important. A discrete small camera doesn't attract easily thieves neither security people asking for photo permits. Sony has many small bright and sharp full frame e-mount lenses like the 35mm f/2.8 or the 28mm f/2. A lightweight camera is always preferable after many many hours of walking and shooting constantly.
Great video! Sony NZ will be selling the kit version for NZ$4,299. That's still a lot of money for most people. I'm on a tight budget for this year, but am bucking to get a camera for videos as I'm only using my Samsung S10+. I want to get a camera November at the latest. The A7C is a big improvement from the a6600. (1) Flip OUT screen (2) UHS 2 card reader, faster (3) 4k 30fps no crop full frame camera, aww... (4) USB C port (5) IBIS (6) Not as bad with Rolling Shutter like the a6600. Course it's $1,300 more than the a6600, but with so many more improvements. Will cost an arm, leg, kidney, and is not what most can afford, but once you get the A7C, you'll be happy with it for life.
That was an excellent review. Compact, informative and it touched most major questions I had. Btw. the small weight of the A7C allows putting it on a gimbal like the Zhiyun Crane M2 (with a light-weight lens). That makes a perfectly compact but flexible vlogging setup.
Thanks for an objective demonstration of the a7c. My primary camera is the a7Riv and I have been looking for a second body that addresses my use cases of travel, street, and portraits. A lot of the hype coming out in the last couple of days has created a lot of uncertainty but reviews like this with a real-word demonstration clears up a few things for me. Before seeing this review I had serious doubts about this camera but now I am leaning toward purchasing one along with a short prime. It seems that this is not just a vlogging camera though the feature set seems to be optimized for that use case. On video the stills look very good so I am looking forward to seeing some additional examples in a static medium.
Thanks so much, I'm really glad you liked my review! I definitely prefer to just take a camera out for a spin to see what it's capable of :) It's a great hybrid options, I'm strongly considering getting one as a 2nd camera for portraits, travel and vlogging instead of using my a73 for all that.
Question for you, Julia.. What is the EVF like is comparison to other units you have used? I’m considering this as my first FF due to the similarities to my Fuji film X - E3, as I enjoy the range finer styled set ups (DSLR format annoys me 🙄) Thank you for you review! I just found you channel due to this one - nice to see a local on the screen 😊.
Wow a new compact + lightweight kit lens 20-60mm - quite interesting. Wondering if img. quality is better than from the old 28-70mm kit zoom. Can you tell ?
Purchased the a7c black body last week on sale NZ$3,077 (RRP NZ$3,699). I've also decided to get the Sony G 20mm f1.8 Sony NZ has it on sale for NZ$1,598 (RRP $1,899). Will get within next 14 days. Looking at getting their digital external mic (NZ$669 but may wait for Black Friday Sales) and a backup Z Battery (Black Friday Sales). Plan to do a review video late November or early December once I have all the gear and have tested it.
I also purchase and use a7c. I haven't started using it yet, so I'm taking pictures and videos while trying various things. The video was very helpful. I will come to play again ♬ With love from Japan :)
Lol I know I have said before that I absolutely love your work! I also love how you are able to use local spots to create beautiful photos no matter where you are! Haha I have been really trying to challenge myself to do local photo shoots and not pressuring myself to not just go to one or two spots that are far way haha and always trying to control everything
Check out what focus settings I use on the A7C and set it up like mine in this video: ruclips.net/video/_ZU6Q-oEcP4/видео.html
I love that you put settings on side of each photo you take.
Thank you!
Yay glad you liked that!

The silver/black looks like a kid's camera. Looks terrible.
seemingly a lot of negativity about this camera meanwhile you're putting it through its paces no fuss, entertaining an informative as always, cheers
Thanks so much!
Second that 👌💯
I have been up all night researching this and have watched countless videos and this was the best that just sold me on the A7c. Thank you very much.
Great review, Julia!
Hmm, sounds like ironic for this test. Maybe due to different result in close up autofocusing?
Thanks guys!! 💛
You guys are such Aussiephiles! :)

Love the results of the edited photos. I really like the new two-tone design, the AF is pretty snappy and the kit lens is surprisingly sharp.
Such a good compact camera, love this review!
Thank you so much :D
That demonstration of the AF was brilliant. Very impressive. Thanks for your efforts.
Loved the review Julia, great camera !!!

The way you take photos is cool Julia

That shutter sound at 3:23!
Juliaaaaa is the best! U rock’. Love your portrait tutorials 💯
Thank you so much!
That was a great video. I like how you actually shoot rather than focus on a spec sheet. Thanks.
Thanks so much! Yeah I always prefer just taking out the cameras I'm reviewing for a spin - it's the best way to see what they're capable of.
Your model is gorgeous!
Real time AF Tracking , really so good.
I remember when you still had the Canons and was considering an A7 but wasn’t ready to commit. Now you’re getting the newest Sony gear!
