thank you so much for this! this is my first sony camera and i feel like the only videos on youtube are telling users to not buy this camera and to just buy the a7iii. no one has featured what the camera can potentially do and how to use it best.
6:26 I've spend a whole day trying to figure out how you set up this shortcut centre button to track focus. Is there any tutorial on your channel on how to do it?
thank you for this video!!!!!!!! note: responsive isn't referring to speed, I know you kind of said that in the following sentence about the lock on, it's just how much change in the frame is required to make it change focus target
Hey Julia! So the only other custom buttons I generally have is basically aperture priority mode with a minimum auto iso, which is nice and lets the brains of the Sony do its thing. My next mode is the same thing, but basically a version of manual mode with focus peaking on. I am not too fussy with the custom buttons. My shortcuts are very similar to use, but I just use what I think feels intuitive. I do have the Play Memories mobile app on my favourites as it's a nice remote shooter while still being able to see the screen (maybe you could try a video on this?). I'm on a a7iii still and love the body of the a7c, but cannot justify the upgrade as photography is not my day job....yet.
omg, thank you sooooo muuuuuch. I just got a 2nd hand Sony A7C as my first camera EVER and i was getting overwhelmed with so many things and didnt know how to personalize the menus and now that i know that is possible and seeing how you do it its going to make the camera waaay more fun to use!
I have been using a new piece of tech for the last few months on all of my shoots that I am really loving! I haven’t seen anyone use or review it yet on RUclips either, and was thinking it could make a really cool video if you were interested, before it became widely known if you were keen to try it out some time!
I am leaning on picking this camera up over an A73 for video and a B stills camera with my smaller lenses (24mm). For portrait shoots - should I be concerned with just the one memory card slot?
I do! It doesn't have dual card slots so I still use my A7III for weddings and big client work. I use the A7C mainly for shorter portrait photoshoots and vlogging as well. I used the GM 50 1.2 with it in my review video of that lens if you wanted to see :)
@@juliatrotti thanks! I work in news (on feature stories/documentary) and while the pandemic is here I traded my canon gear in for credit and looking for a second camera. I currently have a a7iii but in a dilemma. Wait for the mythical a7iv or get a second body now. Going to check your review now, this really does look a great camera and second card slots aren’t such a big deal for me usually. Thank you :)
Brilliant video, thanks. I use the same camera. Could you please advise on the best video settings if videos are made indoors using natural light only, but the light isn't strong enough so the resulting video is rather dark? A small comment/answer will be much appreciated, thanks so much 🙂
This is fantastic, but I can't figure out how to make some of these changes. Please, please, please walk us through setting up these functions! I tried and some worked and others made a mess instead.
No I'm sorry I never ended up uploading it!! I had it filmed and then just never got around to editing it because I got distracted with other projects and eventually it seemed too late to upload. I have since uploaded my A7IV video setup though which is pretty much the same as how I have my A7C set up.
Even when I have the continuous active track on why does it not always keep the green box around my eye? If I have it on a tripod and I am moving around I am not able to hit the button when it is recording.
Hiii it would rlly help if you could review the canon t7 or canon2000d please I want to begin photography and by a beginner not to expensive camera also love you videos I ask you because you are the best at reviewing cameras
I didn’t end up posting it, I got too busy with other projects at the time unfortunately. I have since uploaded my A7IV video setup which is pretty much the same as how I have the A7C set up :)
Thank you Julia :) I shoot video most of the time, so looking forward to your next vlog. On shooting video on the A7c, Looking at changing. From Lumix G9 to Sony, but not sure what Sony yet.
What a super professionel and informative video. Thanks. So nice to see a skilled "RUclipsr" with content, and not just click bait not mention iJustine :-)
Wow! Searched to see if you had posted any new videos, and this video was posted 1 minute ago! 😳😳😳 I don’t have notifications on for any channels either
Love the video Julia, and love the Sony A7C for photography! Since I don't shoot video, I also use the record button as an extra custom button. I think compact lenses with aperture rings are perfect for the A7C, like the Sony 35 f1.4. Have you heard of the new Sigma I series lenses? Would love to hear your thoughts on the 35 f2 and 65 f2 if you get a chance!
Great video! I use about the same style of focus modes. Except the flexible spot I use the large one more often depending on what I need to do haha great info Julia!
I'd like to see a video on your "video settings". Also, I'm very curious about how you use EC in video. I use an Variable ND filter...
what's EC?

Yah she mentioned that video but I couldn't find it, hmm
Literally the best video on the A7C I've seen. Great work explaining this.

Finally found one video that talks simple English and explained manual mode controls early on!

"This is the shutter button"
Mind = Blown ;-) haha
Can't wait to see the video settings! Just got my A7c yesterday 😄
A7c or A7iii which one is better...
this was super helpful! when is the Video settings video coming? Thanks!
Does that make any difference, I mean focusing on the left eye or right eye.
I have been using a new piece of tech for the last few months on all of my shoots that I am really loving! I haven’t seen anyone use or review it yet on RUclips either, and was thinking it could make a really cool video if you were interested, before it became widely known if you were keen to try it out some time!
For photography (with a small form factor) do you prefer the a7c over say the fugi xpro2 or 3? Both are pretty cool.
I've been looking at APS-C cameras like the Fuji X-S10, XT4 etc but I'm really wondering if I should save the money for an A7C...
Dope video!! I’ve been studying this video for a few days now and I don’t even have the camera yet! I can’t wait for your video version
If you had only one porte lens, which one would you prefer?
Can the a7c eye / face detection work in 4K?
I am leaning on picking this camera up over an A73 for video and a B stills camera with my smaller lenses (24mm). For portrait shoots - should I be concerned with just the one memory card slot?
Do you use this camera a lot? I’m thinking of getting it alongside the 50 1.2.
I do! It doesn't have dual card slots so I still use my A7III for weddings and big client work. I use the A7C mainly for shorter portrait photoshoots and vlogging as well. I used the GM 50 1.2 with it in my review video of that lens if you wanted to see :)

How many of the Sony lenses have the aperture ring on the lense? Did you say this was a Zeus? Is that typical for these?

Thank you for this video :) what are your settings on "Spot Metering Point"? Focus Point Link...? (on A7iii)
WHAT ABOUT THE A7R4? HOW IS YOUR SETUP?
What picture profile you use during photoshoot? Hope you can see and answer my comment. Just got my a7c

Liked even b4 watching :) Been searching the whole of RUclips for this since I received mine. Thanks Julia!
Thanks for this video..
What about for lens which come with camera a7c in the box?
I asking about the quality ❓ please
Was the video settings video ever released? I can't seem to find it on Julia's page.

Great video! Being a full frame 24 mp camera, what are the photos/sharpness like when printed from A3 size upwards
And is this for professional use?
Mam..best for faimly photography..a7iii or a7c..which camra suggest me..please guide me
With the a7c, how do you move a small focus point around since it doesn't have a joy stick?
I wish I would have found this video 5 months ago when I first got the a7C! Thanks for the tips, I didn’t know I could update my function menu! 🤦🏼♂️
Did you had any issues whit mic input? I mean some people complain about mic Jack ; Seems jack mic it's moving a lot
I’m using an a7iii and looking for a small full frame. I work in features led documentary - how is the focusing like for documentary?
Are you shooting with sony a7c
Can you do one for Canon settings, please.
Hi Julia, thanks for this tutorial, I just got my A7C😊. hopefully you will have POV or live shooting using this camera. be safe❤
hey how can you LOCK focus once selected on the a7c? thanks in advance!
Knotted everything in every angle very professionally.
What about mechanical shutter? Do you have ECFS on or off?
Even when I have the continuous active track on why does it not always keep the green box around my eye? If I have it on a tripod and I am moving around I am not able to hit the button when it is recording.
Although I shoot with a different brand of camera, this was still very helpful. Thanks julia!! 🤗
What camera would you recommend for under £1000?
Your content is great, stay safe and well.
Hlo mam i have a qtn about this camera does it shoot eaf in video at 1080p 120fps!? Or of face af in 120fps!?

Thank You Julia: I love all those “buddons” your camera doesn’t have. 😂🥰. I’m assuming this is an SNL skit?

@@juliatrotti ok thank you
You're so pretty Julia, as always 😍
Thanks Julia, you helped a lot with this video as they just made a sony a7c camera to buy.
Could you do a similar video for a7c2 for portrait photography?
Did you ever make the video on your video settings?
This is the video I’ve been looking for. Thanks!
it is possible to shoot stills when video records ?
No, you have to stop recording first
Thank you for this helpful video Julia! Will be thinking of these tips for my A7C.
Did the video version of this ever come out?
No :( I did upload my A7IV video settings a few weeks ago though, which is pretty much the same as I have my A7C video set up!
Is the “video settings” video still coming? Great tips btw! 🙏
Thank you Julia- this is an incredibly helpful video!
I wish you could come and set up my A7C for me !!
Can you please do similar video for A7CII?
What to do for selfie seems like they are blurry and not focused
Iso min shutter speed, for those who shoot in A mode. M1, M2, M3 modes.
Thank you Julia :) I shoot video most of the time, so looking forward to your next vlog. On shooting video on the A7c, Looking at changing. From Lumix G9 to Sony, but not sure what Sony yet.
My a7c is not focusing when I touch focus object on M mode please help me
Very useful for learning more about my A7C. Thanks!
Awesome video, I'm just in the process of moving from my a7iii to the a7c so some of this is helpful.
Thanks Julia this was very helpful. Did you ever do the video settings video, I can't find it.
