Exciting Excavations at Colossi of Memnon: Dr. Hourig Sourouzian

On November 7, 2022, the great Dr. Hourig Sourouzian, met our group for a special tour of the site of Kom el Hetan, commonly known as "Colossi of Memnon", west bank Luxor, Egypt. This largest mortuary temple ever built - by the great Amenhotep III in the 14th c BCE, is one of the most exciting and rich excavation sites in Egypt today. So much has been discovered in recent years as they work to reconstruct this great site, largely destroyed by an ancient earthquake and the ravages of time.
