    This was the great example of taking common materials and putting them together in an effective way. Many u-tube videos show you the end result without a clear step by step "how to" get to the end result. Thanks for putting this together. I will definitely use this technique for a theater set I'm working on.

      Hello, is it a problem to use white fabric when you use it for theater with the light of the stage? Because it seams that it works only when it's dark around?
      Thank you

      Juliette Antonas Yes, I would say they work best in the dark. Depending on your stage lights, perhaps it might work if it’s in a dark area? I have seen it done with colored silk in the daylight and that looks good, that might be your option.

    Clever. The sound if the fan indoors can be disturbing long term

      I never did it inside as this was for a Haunted Hayride scene, I agree inside there would be noise, no difference from a professional flame 🔥 machine, like a fog machine there will be noise, that’s where you add your audio in front of the scene to drown out the noise

    you just put the light under the fan?

    • @OjaiHaunt
      @OjaiHaunt  4 года назад

      Mark Tina Steinke yep, that’s what I did. I recently found some led flood lights that you can control with your phone and they are flat and fit better. LED Flood Light Outdoor, 15W RGB... www.amazon.com/dp/B07T1B5S58?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

    Is this outdoor safe?

    • @OjaiHaunt
      @OjaiHaunt  11 месяцев назад +1

      I used mine outside, but if it rained I would definitely bring it in and not use it. Unless you are using a fan that is for the outdoors and rainproof I would not use it in the rain, due to possible electrical problems or injuries!

    did you use LED orange and red spots for those Flame colours which look incredible?? I have a Honeywell fan like yours but I need it to make my Caldron flame with of all things Paper towel as it's easier to glue to the base. but I have 2 regular fans and thinking lying them on their backs to get the same effect without having to but your fans??

    • @OjaiHaunt
      @OjaiHaunt  5 лет назад

      norm lor yes, all LED I actually used the fire/ice projection lights. Some have many settings and I used the one that was orange and yellow. Or just get the projection fire lights, they are bright enough for the job. Happy Haunting

    No fog machine to act as smoke, it really helps sell the effect.

      Rick Fipps I had two large fog machines running at the Haunt. It was cool because the fans blew the fog up like a real smoke.

    I think yellow and orange (lights) would look more realistic

      ARCHIEANGELinOH I agree, I think I’ll try a “Fire light bulb” as well.

    We tried this for a play prop using two box fans. I built a frame for them and every time we turn on the fans the material gets sucked back around and under the fans. We gave it plenty of airspace under the fans and the material still won't fly. We used a nearly see through light weight white fabric, very silky. Any idea what we did wrong?

    • @OjaiHaunt
      @OjaiHaunt  4 года назад

      Gus Thomas my friend tried this with their box fans, the big square ones and it didn’t work either. The fans need to be very strong like a high velocity shop fan. I luck out and find them at thrift stores or garage sales.

      Or, your fabric might have been to long?

      @@OjaiHaunt Thanks for the replies. Funny, that link was the first vid I watched to get an idea how to do this, then I saw yours and liked the effect better. So now we are going to try to modify the frame I built to go with a solid piece of material fasten top and bottom. Not exactly what we wanted, but we just can't get the strips to fly with the fans we bought.
