Remember riding this glorious little railway when I was young and watching trains pass over the crossing at Jefferstone Lane station, now simply called St Mary's Bay
What an awesome event! L'al Ratty's new locomotive is a stunner, and always fun the see THE BUG out and about....is it just me, or does the Romney trackwork always seem to look a little wonky; it does work, though! Thanks for posting!!
Standards seem to be dropping slightly. Even allowing for the telephoto shots the track is a bit substandard in places and more than one loco has leaky drain cocks.
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel Is it true that they want to repaint Hurricane into LNER green? I heard that about 2 months ago but I'm glad she's still blue.
Don't think Prince was ever taken apart? It's pending an overhaul. Doctor Syn is serviceable, as is Southern Maid. But there's only so many locos you can use in one day. "The Bug" didn't on the Saturday.
Bearing in mind this was filmed two years ago. No2 carried a Bulleid whistle before this video was filmed, and was subsequently refitted with it at a later date. It seems the whistles do get the occasional swap around, though some are allocated to specific locos.
Hi does it have regular services? When? Fare? Have plans of visiting UK and would be very much interested to probably make a round trip, my wife & I. Looking forward to answers Cheers
Because that's what Railway Galas do, generally speaking. Bring in visiting engines, to broaden the variety of locos running, as well as offering the chance to see certain locomotives away from their home ground.
Love this! We'd like permission to use some of this footage for our Virtual Steam and Diesel Gala. If that would be okay with you please e-mail marketing@rhdr.org
Romney Hythe and dymchurch railway always know how to put on a good gala!!!!!!!!
They sure do.
I love RD&HR

Those yellow and brown coaches look very nice they should make more
Great footage, Ravenglass and Eskdale visiting locomotive. Winston Churchill as the Dungeness fisherman

What awesome
What a brilliant video I enjoyed watching it
A masterpiece parade. Sublime.👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😍🚂👏👏👏
I love the RH&D, I wish I had been aware of it when I was in the UK. However the track seems to be noticeably deteriorating. Makes me sad.
For a long railway, the track is maintained really well. Lots of working parties visible during the quiet months of winter.
Brilliant Footage
Thanks very much
14:20 minutes in, is that Mr Chris Eden-Green?
Yes.
Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!
First class video. Many thanks for sharing it.
Thanks very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I was there - sure was good! Shame no 10 is awaiting overhaul (so is no 14) and no 11 is waiting some sort of new pipe
No10 is still serviceable, just awaiting some attention to its brakes. No11 is awaiting a full overhaul, including a boiler re-tube.
Wonderful video, big thumbs up :)
Thanks very much! The kind words are appreciated.

I prefer no. 8 with smoke deflectors.
Same, but it was nice to see something different.

Doubt it.
4:49 fun fact: the 5 was made into a mini armoured train with 6 aa guns and shot down 3 PLANES DURING WW2
I see that black prince is back together, but I could have sworn doctor syn was in service!!!! Did bug even do any trips?

Funny, I thought northern chief had a bullied type whistle. Do the rh&dr change whistles regularly?

These locomotives lurch about like they're trying to take off across the fields. Is the track really up to standard?
The track is checked everyday but looks better condition now
Where do the Eskdale Explorer and the Bluecoaster Limited go to and from on this railway?
The headboards were only in use for public intrigue, not representing any scheduled service.

If it's called a steam & diesel gala why is there one steam locomotive from another railway visiting this railway featured in this video?
Because that's what Railway Galas do, generally speaking. Bring in visiting engines, to broaden the variety of locos running, as well as offering the chance to see certain locomotives away from their home ground.
Max speed?
25mph in sections. Lower in others.
Really not a fan of the new whistle on No 2, she used to have such a distinct whistle!

Thanks. E-mail sent
Would that otherwise considerate passengers kindly keep their ugly 'mugs' inside the cars during recording.
