October Gallery, London, 26th October 2010.
Comic book legend (usually writer, but is fast becoming superhero in his own right), psychogeographer, novelist, yarn spinner, Olympic standard imaginator (ok so that’s not a real word) and “one of the world's most inept LSD dealers” (according to Wickedpedia, so can’t be true) - came along to the gallery to perorate profoundly about something spectacular.
This lecture was part of a series held at the October Gallery on the last Tuesday of each month.
If I could invite 5 guests to a dinner party, I’d invite Alan Moore and ask the rest to be quiet.
Ceiling Fan Noice
I'd invite Alan five times just in case he didn't feel like coming.
I've listened to this many times over the years.
thankfully I've found it. I am very much moved, for some reason.
Me too
RIP Steve Moore in 2014
Bloody brilliant that enjoyed every minute
This guy is a gem.
Mr. Moore is far to shrewd, to tell the whole story. I completely understand the "Library Angels" concept. I've had it happen to me, and am glad to hear it mentioned.
I feel so blessed to be one of less then 50 people here ..so many lost and confused
😆
starting at 57:30 when he starts discussing his friend Steve Moore the talk really picks up. I love this story!!
Unbelievable. Riveting. Thank you, Jack Trap for sharing!
when he says he's using he's magic powers, he's not joking
My sincerest belief, without any knowledge of science or time, is that as your die, the last few impulses in your brain imagine an eternity. So even after your brain has decayed and there are no more neurons or whatever, you are still perceiving this world, whatever form that takes.
Although has someone who has sort of secluded themselves mostly for years and years, I can safely say likely you don't go mad, your body and brain just rot away and your cognition isn't there anymore, your body fucks up, you don't understand people or life. I wish I had the touch of madness these people like Moore have. The sad reality is that being a lonely old man (I am 30 but feel old, very old) is tediously dull and suicide inducing, but there is little illuminating there.
15 minutes in and Alan is basically talking about how Steve made Selene his waifu, this is going places.
I remember seeing Alan Moore's name near the top of the bill for the Amazing Meeting London and thinking WTF? Glad Moore was thinking the same.
Amazing
The idea that one can con or force a much more powerful entity to achieve some magical end you yourself are not powerful enough to achieve does really beg the question of who is controlling who.
*whom

Yep, he’s my favorite storyteller. Please don’t disappoint me like Roman Polanski, Mr. Moore!
That's a bit out of left field! Besides the obvious, there's nothing at all in common between the two men. One was a big Hollywood guy into money and fame. Alan just sits in his Northampton terrace, writing, like the guru who decided the key to it all was to become a fisherman, have a family, and go to the village pub now and then.
Hey Steve, I'm glad you and Selene are out of Purgatory now; thanks to I, the Illustrious One. For my own sake and everyone else's; I'm happy full moons and Halloween etc will go smoother than this years did!
29:42 If you don't know; he's imitating a puppeteer.
This is brilliant xxx this happened to me tho no shrooms tho xxx
A real long shot but does anybody know who produced the artwork behind Alan?
Michael Dockery yes, it states the artist on the front of the book. They are often oblong shaped. You may be fortunate, there's still some about
the charming Mr moore
hes wearing a cyberdog tshirt LOL
Thing is with Alan's snake worship is that he worships a god he KNOWS is false and doesn't consider that a big deal. His explanations of his magic have always said that it could just be read as a mixture of psychology, in the way that meditation doesn't require any supernatural beliefs even if it often comes with them, and art. And yeah historically it seems art / psychology / magic were all much of one thing back when. Or at least he says so plausibly.
So I can't see a rationalist having a problem with Alan's beliefs. If I had to guess, I'd say Alan sees it both ways, as a metaphor, but also as something with real reality to it, and maybe errs just on the side of it being actual real magic. Him continuing to worship a god that's completely debunked, on purpose, is a great way to do it.
What was the crowley work he mentioned? Can't hear him.
I believe he was referring to “Liber 777” by Crowley.
'Marxism is a religion by that definition' - Brilliant as ever, Mr.Moore.
As is capitalism, anarchism or any other ideology for that matter. Nor is ‘religion’ necessary a bad thing. As long as healthy debate is encouraged within them
Damn, this is grim.
Which drugs did they exactly take, when that amazing experience happened to them?
Psilocybin
thanks
That And dmt
I have listened to this many times and I have never heard him mention DMT in this talk.

😂
My last name is Moore. No relation.
What he saw in the ball was Prometheus.
The one who stole the fire from the Gods and gave it to humankind.
I would say Promethea, but she doesn't have any balls...
I have one gripe. He needs to stop hiding in bathrooms.
