  • On this test I will charge Mercedes EQA 250 from 57% to 100% using 11 kW public charger.
Here I have cable connected on the charger socket and in the car socket. Green light indicates that charging is ongoing.
This Mercedes EQA 250 is 2023 model year.
Let’s see first a bit of statistics of my driving. From start I have driven 31 km with average consumption of 11.8 kWh/100 km, which is quite typical of my daily driving on summer time.
From reset it shows 17.9 kWh/100 km which is since I got this car one year ago. It contains all year weather conditions including winter time -20C temperatures and summer time +25C temperatures.
So let’s see how much electric range it will show with full 100% charge.
Here we can see that charging is ongoing using 11 kWh AC charger. 57% battery charge and 298 km of electric range. It estimates that 100 % charge takes 2h41min using this 11 kW charger.
Coming back to see how it’s ongoing and we can see that 94 % charge and 494 km of electric range.
Now 96 % and 502 km of electric range.
It still takes 16 minutes to get a full 100 % charge.
And now 98 % and 538 km of electric range. Here I have also activated cabin cooling as we can see the blue ventilation symbol is rolling.
And now almost full 99% and 546 km of electric range, but we still need to wait 3 minutes until 100% charge.
And now the 548 km of electric range and 1 minute left. While we are now waiting that to complete I will go through a bit more details on this 2023 EQA 250 model. So Mercedes did improvements to the car’s efficiency compared to previous model years. WLTP electric range on this car EQA 250 is 495 km. This car has also optional zero cost factory roof rails delete option which gives also some extra 3 kilometers of electric range. Netto usable Battery capacity is 66.5 kWh and electric motor power is 140 kW which is 190 hp. This EQA has also 18” standard summer tires, so this car is a pretty basic car. The EQA 250 price in Finland was 49990€ including taxes on 2022 when this car was ordered and delivery was on first quarter of 2023.
My weekly driving route is mainly sub-urban and urban areas, where electric cars are on the most efficient in generally. It also explains why I can get these very high electric range numbers and even much more electric range than official WLTP range.
But let’s see how much range it will give, still some seconds left.
Ok, so now we have 100% charge and number is 550 km of electric range. Last summer I also got these kind of similar numbers, so this is not exceptional number for the electric range on 100% full charge.
Hope you enjoyed this video and see this kind of test useful.

Great to see that you exceed the WLTP electric range by just using sub-urban and urban areas. Most people think the WLTP range is never obtainable

@@patbis68 Yes, if daily driving is sub-urban and urban area speeds (40-60-80km/h), it goes more than WLTP on summer time. And this is the thing which many is wondering that WLTP cannot be never obtained. On winter I get punished, because the majority goes on heating on these same 10…20km short distance trips. Car is on the outside temp garage and on winter there are -20C temperatures here in Finland, so on winter time, the worst -20…-25C temps, I get ~50% (250km) of the WLTP range.

@@Tonde Mercedes should have installed heat pumps sooner. Not even providing them as an option on all EQ car was not good. I will let you know what the difference is between summer and winter on my EQE SUV (with heat pump). Only 56 days to delivery day !!!

@@patbis68 And even I have the heat pump on my EQA 250, it won’t help on very cold temps, like on this -22C outside test on last winter: ruclips.net/video/Basw7iDnUq0/видео.htmlsi=JuCvzdhwOhkmVpkE
The heat pump will do a high noise level as in the video, but I guess the parallel electric heater element ~5kW will actually do the main job on very those winter cold temperatures.
Will be interesting to hear how EQE SUV with heat pump will do on cold temperatures, if similar effect is there. Nice, your delivery date is very near 👍
