    I just received my EQB 250 + 3 weeks ago and love it so much. I did add options like speaker upgrade, 360 camera, wireless charging, adaptive cruise control, augmented navigation, heated seat, and Aircon for the behind row too. Range on full charge to 100% can get me 460km (max 540km). Wireless CarPlay was a nice surprise! My daily commute is about 60km which takes about 12-14% battery. Happy! And not to mention the hand-free boot opening and keyless are very nice!

    We have the EQB 350 ‘23 model and just perfect for our family with 2 kids. We recently had a trip to Switzerland during the easter break and the car was amazingly comfortable the whole journey. Boot space was more than enough for our luggage. The car’s range was not even an issue for me although it has only have a usable range of 220-230 miles. Charge points in motorways in France are brilliant. I was never worried about running out of charge. And it’s cheap to charge in France as well compared here in the UK.

    Hi Nick, my Mercedes A class has the latest key, which requires holding the lock button and double tapping the unlock, twice, to double lock.
    I have just spent a morning at my local LSA Mercedes agent trying to have a problem with it solved. The biggest problem I had was convincing some of the personnel that my vehicle/ key had this facility. They went so far as to say this facility wasn’t on my car and bizarrely, Mercedes have discontinued it. My car is 10 months old, plenty of time for dealers to know about this method of double locking. Keep up the good work.
    Regards

    Thank you for your review, even 3 months down the lines, yours is the most comprehensive review on these two. New EQA and EQB were launched 10 days ago in India. EQB looks fairly good. Only gripe if Merc would have made it may be 100mm wider and 50mm taller, the seats and space would have been much comfortable. I think the car is good and gives around 400km range in a single charge, many families would not mind keeping it as their primary vehicle.

    Great to see this NIck, high standard as usual. I have now had my EQA 250+ AMG Line Premium Plus for just under 2 weeks and I agree about the driving experience, it is pure joy. I am pleased that I went for the highest spec in terms of packages as they make driving both more comfortable and safer. The adaptive cruise control (Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC) takes the tedium out of having to adjust speed all the time, both in town and on the open road. I have tried the three built in driving modes Comfort (which is the default), Eco and Sport. The first two feel quite similar but Sport turns the EQA into quite a different car, too much for me! I will probably use Eco most of the time, it is more than responsive enough, but will next try out the individual mode largely out of interest. Before this I had an ML 350 which I bought because I needed a larger car with 4 wheel drive. Following retirement my needs changed and the EQA was a much better choice, having long ago decided that my next car would be electric. The enhanced suspension on the EQA is much better than on the ML at taking bumps and corners. I wondered if I'd miss the ML but so far not at all. I'd say that so long as you have a convenient way to charge the car (luckily I have a home charger) then electric is now an excellent choice. Good also to see a longer range for the EQB which will help those needing more space.

When I look at the German Mercedes website, it says range is 534 km, range within town is 694 km. Is this information correct? Will the ranges of the Eqb 250 model vehicles coming to Turkey be at these values?

    Nice cars, thanks for the video. Heavy breathing on that full screen apple car display, mine does not go really full screen, the edges are missing one or two centimetres, probably because it is ntg 6. The EQA looks really cool and has a nice range considering its weight.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  10 месяцев назад +1

      Awh thank you! Glad you liked it! Yes sadly not all cars out there can operate with a full screen CarPlay experience. MBUX NTG 6 (or the first generation of MBUZ) basically had two screen sizes for that multimedia system. One was 7” and one was 10.25” so for it to maintain compatibility, CarPlay had to adopt the 7” version which is why it appears cropped on previous models.

    I was tempted by the EQA after a test drive. But do you honestly think it’s OK that even on the Premium Plus version of the 350 version, they make you pay extra for adaptive cruise control? Most other marques, it’s standard fitment.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  10 месяцев назад

      Manufacturers will always offer different specifications (if they were all the same that would be quite boring! 😅)
      Yes some other manufacturers do offer this as standard but they are usually cheaper in cost.
      A good example I can use on myself here, I bought a brand new Mercedes last year and budget-wise I can only just about afford an A-Class. Now if Driving Assistance Package was on all Mercedes it’ll add just under £2k to the price which might have priced me out of getting a Mercedes in the first place.
      Yes it would be lovely if it was standard but it’ll only increase the car’s price more.

    Nice video Nick. Was thinking of buying an EQA 250 but I understand that you cannot schedule charging to take advantage of off peak rates (unlike most EVs). Is this correct or is it “if you can afford an EQA 250 you can afford to charge during peak rates”.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  4 месяца назад

      Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
      The growing trend over the years is that the charger does the scheduling. I know that some manufacturers have offered it on cars before but seriously having it on the charger is 100x better.
      For example I have an Ohme charger at home, when I’ve had an EV from a manufacturer on test, when I’m done, I plug it in and it’ll not only charge off peak (usually at night) but it will communicate directly to octopus energy and when the grid has low demand at a certain time of day, it’ll charge then as well. Of course one button overrides that and I get instant charging.
      If the car was doing the scheduling that neat integration would never happen.

    Hi Nick, thanks so much for your reviews. I've got an EQB 350 AMG Premium coming this July but have found conflicting information on what it will come with. Others are saying it should come with the Panoramic Sunroof but this isn't included in the spec details via Mercedes UK...
    I was also very much looking forward to the logo light when you open the door... But again, it does not mention this feauture in specs when I order...
    Is there a good way to check if these features are included for my order or not? Thanks!

      Ah no worries! So whenever I research a car before making a review or video I always check out a manufacturer’s website: www.mercedes-benz.co.uk/passengercars/ebrochure-download.html
      Mercedes handily have eBrochures which detail almost everything which helps! Although I don’t cover individual specs on my channel as it can change (depends I guess when they update it) but sunroof according to that link under EQB is on the package Premium Plus.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  9 месяцев назад

      The advanced sound system is made by Mercedes, I have it in my car. It has extra speakers, an amplifier and a subwoofer where as Burmester is a sound system made bespoke for each individual model that it’s sold in.
      I’m quite fussy with sound systems but the advanced one is pretty good, however if you a true audio head then the Burmester will be the way to go if it’s available on the model you’re looking at.

    The cable doesn't stay in the trunk. You take it out and leave it in your garage. Charging stations have their own cables.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  3 месяца назад

      I would advise against this only because:
      In the UK there are some chargers which don’t have cables. All DC chargers (the faster ones) have cables as they’re very thick and always tethered, but some AC chargers don’t where you need to use your own cable.
      The chances of this happening are pretty slim where you’re needing to use an AC charger that doesn’t have one, but maybe you’re staying in a hotel that only has AC charging and you’ve done a road trip or something.
      Just an example 🤓👍🏼

      I don’t believe so, sadly I only had a short time with the two cars but I’m pretty sure an augmented hud requires a very large cutout in the dashboard. So I’m sure that’s only on big cars that are big enough for the cutout.
      Plus Mercedes add one step further with eye tracking with their augmented hud (it’s incredible) but I believe (you might need to check with them) I’m pretty sure it’s just on EQS / S-Class sized cars. What numpty is their right would either these over their petrol equivalents. You’re paying over £11k more to have less miles. Also, technically less space and awkward rear seat height. Otherwise, bar the lights design they’re identical.
    The other problem is that these cars (and some other high end brand EV’s ) are not on a bespoke platform and are effectively petrol cars reconfigured to hit emission targets. They have not been designed with any efficiency in mind and the I don’t even know whether they’ve made the cars more sound insulated because the GLB I own is rather loud at 70mph.
    Massively overpriced cars for what you get - for example, the Smart #1 (awful name) for £39k (part deigned by Mercedes) has all the spec and more than the spec of a £56k Premium Plus EQA and is on a bespoke platform. Only letdown is it 280 miles max battery (if you’re lucky).
    To be honest, most electric cars are overpriced pieces of tech that will age so fast because of the advent of new battery tech, poor infrastructure and insurance policies that effectively make your car worthless. The world just isn’t ready for electric cars. Most do local driving and it may suit the. More when energy costs come down - but owning a luxury car isn’t a luxury, is]ts a stupid purchase that cost more to do less.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  10 месяцев назад

      EV’s do cost more but running costs are significantly less BUT only if you get your electricity from cheaper sources.
      Most manufacturers have designed their EV’s to fit existing platforms to start but they have now introduced loads more with as you said they’re own platform.
      Yes the smart #1 does have more spec than a Mercedes! I’m pretty sure I used that caption in the thumbnail! 😂
      But you do raise a good question, what would happen if new battery tech came out tomorrow? To be fair I’ve seen rumours of all sorts of examples but nothing actually makes it into devices we can buy. But will be interesting to see what happens!

    • @ColonelSternlove
      @ColonelSternlove 10 месяцев назад

      @@npoleary exactly - energy tariffs aside, an electric car is just way more. Monthly payment, higher insurance and unknown costs for repair (hence the high insurance prices). It’s inevitable I will own an electric car but I also suspect they will move the goalposts for owning an EV again. It’s quite obvious there are too many problems to solve.
      And most manufacturers used existing platforms to meet EV criteria for government and legislation. Otherwise, none were ready. I went past a Tesla pick up park (Trafford Centre, Manchester) and there were so many cars sitting - and with the new model out, they may discount the remaking stock. Tesla Highland is at 9% apr - it’s meant to be a cheap option. The new Mini Countryman Electric - again -why the hell would you spend over £7k more to go less.
      If it wasn’t for the energy tariffs after midnight, EV’s literally wouldn’t sell.
      And when I said battery tech, the tech in a EQB is so dated, especially with charging speeds.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  10 месяцев назад

      Yes good points but charging speeds is a good one, manufacturers aim to keep the DC charge speed around 30 mins.
      For the EQB it is just that. For example an EQE has a larger battery so would take longer to charge technically but still has a 30 min charge. I would imagine it’s due to battery longevity or something. The rate of charge is faster the higher the capacity I’ve noticed, so I’m sure that’s something to do with it too.
      So long story short, yes that stat might look low but it’s because it has a smaller battery at 66 kWh (ish) compared to 90kWh for the EQE.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  10 месяцев назад +1

      Well I guess Mercedes are weighing up what to change on new models etc.
      When a facelift comes out, drivetrains and charging very rarely change, it’s just a facelift, the face of the car get’s a refresh so to speak.
      Car manufacturers are aiming to keep their DC charging speeds at around 30 - 40 mins from the looks of it so that will be competitive with other cars that have a similar battery size.
      For larger cars, they’ll have a larger battery and will then also have increased DC charging speeds but the charge time will still be the same.
      EQA 250+ has a 70.5kWh battery, charge time on DC is 32 min to 35 min
      EQE has a 89kWh battery, charge time on that is also 30 - 31 mins.
      Probably something to do with the inside batteries and wiring, the larger the battery, the faster it can charge? Maybe? Not sure…
