    I agree, the espresso made by the Kinu Phoenix is indeed excellent when I pair it with the Flair 58 and the pour over is somewhat average and more of a hit or miss depending on the beans.

    Have one and always used it in combination with the Cafelat Robot. From time to time it got some real God Shots. You only need a self made lid to stop the popcorning.

    I decided in favour of the M47 Simplicity Special Offer.
    The Special Offer comes with the Aluminium 11-Magnet Catch Cup and the Pour-Over Replacement Burr.
    I am looking forward to this handgrinder, your videos have also helped me to decide. 😀

    M47 Classic for occasional Espresso shots and ZP-6 and C40 for pour-overs. Not a big fan for clarity, nuisance, or tea-like coffee, and more into sweet, clean body and balance in the cup. The Kinu Classic is excellent in the hand, and the grinding feel and action are second to none as the burrs cut through the beans. Thanks, Jack, again. Always enjoy your shows and hate to miss any of them.

    Thank you Jack for your review, your energy and your passion!! I love my Kinu for espresso for all the reasons that you mention. I am now also owning a weber key grinder that gives me great shots but I have not done the comparison with the kinu because i know that I might enjoy the kinu just as well and given the price difference that would hurt!
    I also have the pour over burr which is vastly under rated in my opinion. It requires very different settings than the espresso burr with pour over. That being said, i still prefer the commandante for pour over but i find that the kinu’s burr still give an excellent pour over for a fraction of the price and the convenience of a single grinder that does it all without compromise! Thanls again for your channel

      Thank you very much for watching and sharing your experience. If and when you compare Kinu with Key please let me know the results. I think Key with bigger burrs should give more clarity but for overall taste it could be close.

    I never tried it but everybody says it's the best for espresso... I do wonder though... speaking about hand grinders (so not electric) do you think It would be a noticeable step up to get something with flat burrs? Recently I set my eyes on the Pietro hand grinder, but I wonder if flat burrs are much better than conical at such low rpm.

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  Год назад +1

      Hmmm. Interesting question. I have never tried flat burr hand grinder. Maybe one day. I imagine it would be a bit harder to actually grind on one. As for lower rpm, we still don’t know much about it. I did a video today, exploring this subject, but tbh I ended up more confused than I was b4 😛

      I recently also did dive more into grinders. And also from a more "science based" approach: Before you would often love to pick flat burr grinders because they were more precise and consistent. Downside is that you only have a limited grind time, in wich your beans would be grinded perfectly as the grinder gets hot and the heat affects the metal itself and your beans too. Also with the heat your grinder will be wearing down faster. Conical Burrs became popular because they avoided this issue and you needed much less powerful motors to operate your machine, wich is a huge cost factor. Downside was ofc the not so consistent result compared to flat burrs. The inconsisteny came from the naturtal "problems" of engineering. If you want to design a piece in a factory they will also ask you how precise you want the the cut be. Back then conical burrs were very expensive if you wanted them to produce very precise. Flat pieces on the other hand much cheaper, because the form is much simpler, but required a strong motor. Nowadays 3D technology makes conical burrs as precise as flat burrs. I think the main reason you don´t see flat burrs in hand grinders is that it would be too hard to grind down or you would need a more complicated rotation (made out of very small parts) to make it easier for the hand that would take longer time and would also break down as quick. Considering coffee powder in your system and people themselfs putting a non constent force upon the construction it is an obvious choice. I also would greatly argue that shaking and moving (while you grind) would result in more inconsistency as frequency has a huge impact. That´s why in electric grinders the burr quality does not change that much, it is the motor and construction made especially that way it would not resonate that drives the price insanly high since it requires very complicated calculations and a lot of testing. Ofc this is something in general that a consumer but the engineer is very much aware off. My example would be when I worked at the institute for physics, the microscope would always get blurry images because there was a parking space nearby and some cars would get the microscope to resonate with their frequency. With coffee or espresso we are also moving in microscoping areas so you can imagine the impact of this.

      @@deefpurple9688 very interesting conclusions. I am not sure if I completely agree with the heating and how it affects the taste. Not saying you are wrong but the way I see it, those beans were roasted at around 200C so how would some extra heat from grinding affect the taste? Maybe in the commercial environment (busy coffee shop) but not at home when you only grind several shots at most.
