Seeing it upclose, you realize Paul really was musically proficient, even as he said that he only learned through sound. That fingerpicking is definitely a patented McCartney, second to Blackbird being very known.

@@MichaelSokil, I have done a few guitar covers on it, aside from my Stratocaster. I usually string my Texan with D’Addario Coated EXP Custom Light Strings (.11 - .52).
There's a million ways Paul McCartney could have played these chords, but somehow it came out with this crude but really effective fingerstyle. And here you've nailed it in a way I've never seen anyone do it before. Bravo!
Even Paul plays it differently now than his 1965 Sullivan appearances! It's such a unique sound, and the twang of the guitar is so damn unique. It's very dark, dry and moody, but also warm and reassuring? Anyway, I made a point to study the 1965 Sullivan video to see exactly how he played it in 1965. I think I got close!
@@MichaelSokil it's mostly that slap of those bass notes...I *almost* wonder if flatwounds weren't involved. Among all the minutiae we talk about...I haven't seen much about string type. My 325v63 came with Ric flats in '96, and didn't sound right when I put rounds on it. My J-160E I'm running flats on too...I wonder if he had them on the Texan?
I don't think there's an isolated vocal available! If you find one, share it here, but I don't think there's a way to separate Paul's voice and the Texan (but I could be wrong!)
Bravo. You've done it again. Spot on. As for the original, imagine how much guts it took to depart this far from the traditional "Beatle" music they had been producing to record this and release it. Doesn't seem like a big deal now, but I remember that at the time it was a huge deal. They had done everything as a group, and here is a solo effort by Paul (with help from George Martin of course). Guess it worked out pretty well for them.
Maybe one day, but I have quite a long list of songs on my priority list before that! Just so much good stuff to hit, and I always associate those 1966 performances with their sadness and lack of enthusiasm. But one day I'll get around to it.

I remember the previous video lesson you did for this, I learned how to play it that way in D standard tuning, (like in this video), and I eventually played it in standard tuning with the same cord voicings that made it in the key of G when my paternal grandfather died. I also sang the lyrics while listening to this video for the first time, and it’s like I am Paul McCartney when singing this and I can sort of sing like John, George, and may be a bit of Ringo. Let’s please collaborate after I send you my long overdue rendition of John’s rhythm guitar part to I saw her standing there. I know many Beatles song lyrics by heart, and it would be a fine full circle moment for me after initially learning how to play guitar by watching your early videos. Thanks again for everything.
Good recreation (as always). I see you use G chords with the guitar one tone down. Although McCartney once said this is the way of playing it, I have always thought that what sounds in the record is in F with drop-D tuning, wherein you can make the basses easily, and no need for such a drastic change in the guitar. The take in Anthology 2 convinced me of that; I don't know what you're thinking. In any case, kind regards, and keep them coming!

Perry has a 4001c64 with flats, so if we're still able to collaborate, I may ask to borrow that for some mid-Beatles stuff. I still expect to use the Hofner on some "Rubber Soul" tracks, which you should start reconciling yourself to, haha. I've heard you make your case, but we just happen to disagree! No worries though, it's all good!

This song changed my life back in the 60's. The 6 year old me hated it so much that I stopped listening to pop entirely and refused the guitar lessons I was offered. I became interested in the Gemini missions and that led to becoming an engineer. I didn't pick up pop again until I heard Slade and the guitar had to wait two decades more. 60 odd years later I still hate it but it's marginally better as an instrumental.

I think that’s a reissue. All Texans from the 1960s had the adjustable bridge with the screws on the sides, this one doesn’t. It may be US made tho.
