One huge noticeable feature you've nailed on the head is that on the original, the tempo drags a little bit after the second chorus and even more on the third verse. You did that here with flying colors. Great, great ear.
The fills!!! This is definitely an example of a certain class of Paul song that he used in the 1964-1965 stretch of their careers. Songs like Wait, Tell Me What You See, Every Little Thing have more of a focus on harmonic diversions from the normal and melodic rhythm. These batch of songs are some of my favorites of the group and you did an excellent job recreating the magic of this wonderful album! Can’t wait to see whats next (though I am hoping it is Think For Yourself or Michelle) :)
Always thought that was George playing guitar. Learn something new every time you do another song. And they're always perfectly done. Rubber Soul reminds me of 1965 and listening to the radio when I should have been doing homework. And we're still listening to it 57 years later.
Michael, I appreciate what you're doing here on your channel. I can't think of a better way to spend your time than learning all these great Beatles songs. It's really great content. Thank you!
Ah, "Rubber Soul"? Good work, man. Nice to hear. I wonder how many screw-ups are going to be included in "I'm Looking Through You"? It's always been a personal favourite of mine. Keep it up, Michael. Can't wait to hear more.
People say that Revolver or Pepper are the best Beatles albums, but for me the most beautiful is this Rubber Soul. Congratulations on your work, irreproachable.
This is one of my favourite Beatles tracks. It has a great melody, a good arrangement and a bit of melancholy as well. Oh, and don’t forget the oolala’s. Great cover, Michael!
I've been playing this song for almost 40 years ,on all instruments,& this is the best cover I've heard ! Even got the drone in the last verse ! Great job !
Stunning as always. It would be interesting to recreate ... well, create an alternate version of what Take 3 might have sounded like, without the slowdown.
Learn something new all the time. Matter of fact, many times when I listen to the Beatles, I hear something in the song I hadn't noticed before and I say to my self "Self, that's clever!" But this time, I noticed for the first time there are two different drums going on. Beatles were genius in their simplicity.
McCartney kept the pace up with John as well on this one also. Every album seem to bring out a different piece of my personality, and this one was filled with wonder and positivity. Outstanding job Michael!! There first album with just the title and NOT their Name. I think everyone in the world knew who they were looking at. Just plain Wow!!!!!
Excellent, as always. Listening and watching is always such a pleasure. As is often the case with your videos, after the musical intro I am somehow surprised when the vocal never starts. A tribute to how accurate your playing is. When I first listened to this song as a kid, it seemed a bit like an album filler. I guess because it was so "simple". But later I came to recognize what a kick-ass job Paul did on the bass here. As you know from playing it, his bass on this song may be one of his most-overlooked super jobs. When people want to argue about his best bass you hear "Rain" or "Hey Bulldog", or "And Your Bird Can Sing", but who ever nominates this song? And how about Paul's almost breathless singing? It is too bad they couldn't find anything for George to play except maybe the tambourine, but the song was knocked out in a hurry. Not bad for a "quickie", what?
Amazing job as usual, Michael! The Stratty stabs…so good. You know what they say: “Great minds think alike”. Looks like you, me and Sam are all doing “Rubber Soul”-era covers. My own take on “If I Needed Someone” drops tomorrow! Hope you can catch it!
Awesome job! I love the fills in this song. They are very fun to play but, like you said, are challenging to play if you’re right handed. You nailed it!
@@donl9571 I like the lyrics too, since I don’t think they’re supposed to be taken literally. A symbolic representation of what burning jealousy feels like, borrowed from Elvis Presley
AH THE TIME HAS COME!!! Been patiently waiting for a new one, and this is it! Actually breathtaking and have done a very accurate take on this one. :)) Thanks, Michael!! This cover has made my day again! I had been ecstatic to watch this one when your video suddenly appeared when I opened RUclips in Google Chrome. Nice job as always! :))) 🎉🥰
Your videos are such a source of happiness! As always your recreations are amazing! And…as always…thank you so much for sharing your talents and passion with us! Cheers!
I totally agree, I think both albums ( Rubber Soul and Revolver) are outstanding and I really can`t say which one I like more, I simply love both! Amazing work as always !
Jerry Traynor! It look me a long time to decide who you look like playing the drums there, but that's my final answer! LOL awesome job BTW.. on all your videos
The undeniable fact that this sound so powerful and haunting, almost 60 years after, should tell you something. Yes, The Beatles were as good as they say they were. Yes none was at their level when they were still around (possibly exception being Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys).
Eventually, I will start recording the vocal tracks myself when I get proper equipment. I used to listen to Help! and Rubber Soul all the time when I was in high school even though I just turned 27 years old.
One of my fave Beatle songs. Listening to the Beatles isolated tracks, it sounds like Paul has the tone on his Ricky turned up just a little more than you appear to here. I love it when he simply vamps on the root and makes the Rickenbacker growl - always in middle eights for some reason - I'm thinking You Won't See Me (1st middle 8) and If I Needed Someone middle 8 where Paul transitions from the Em to F# ...when he hits the Bm the bass suddenly becomes warm and wooly again, probably because he's gliding up to the middle of the neck for that root B (notes fretted close to the nut tend to sound more defined and able to cut through the mix) How on earth do you get that glassy metallic treble tone on your Strat? I don't think I've ever heard anything quite like it. Is that a unique Vox AC tone...perhaps with the treble boost circuit?
Rubber Soul is also my all-time favorite Beatles album as well. BTW, I know that I'll be in for a treat when you get around to working on the instrumental cover version of my all-time favorite Beatles song "In My Life" as well as a few other great songs (Especially both "Norwegian Wood" and "Nowhere Man" in particular in terms of John's songs).
Hey Mike you're doing awesome with those Beatle covers. Have you ever did early Beatles during the Decca auditions? I think you'll do wonderful covering "Cry for a Shadow".
Gatekeeping the love of Beatles music and trying to say that only picture perfect recreation covers are valid is just so mind blowingly antithetical to everything The Beatles represent. This is an absolutely invaluable genre of Beatles content, but it is FAR from the only way to express love of their music through covers.
"George is on...tambourine? Sad." Hmmmm...could this be the moment when George started "checking out" of being a Beatle? His contributions start to dwindle at this point. Perhaps giving "Taxman" the lead-off position on Revolver was John and Paul trying to patch up hurt feelings from Rubber Soul?
Best smile on the internet!
😁

excuse me, which part is the chorus of this song? I think this song has no chorus...
@@qasanoba I'd say it's the "time after time you refuse (...)" part
@@jajaleco ooh, that sounds more like a bridge to me!
@@qasanoba I really don't know musical theory, so a chorus for me is anything that repeats XD

Have always loved the bass on this track. Trademark big Macca bass. Great cover. Beautiful work.

The commun factor of all from above is they had keyboard and piano fills
A que le llamas rellenos? A la pista de piano? Y qué instrumento tocó George en esta cancion?

According to Ian McDonald is George
When it started fading, I thought "No! Don't stop playing!" What a gem!

I'm hoping for the double false start American album version!
Amazing. All that’s missing are the Beatles vocal harmonies!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The amount of reverb on those toms is just perfect. Sounds a lot alike the original version
You are one of the best Beatles cover channels on the whole Internet!!! Amazing as always Michael!!!

A big YES to my favorite album forever.....Thank you !!!🤩
Stunning as always. It would be interesting to recreate ... well, create an alternate version of what Take 3 might have sounded like, without the slowdown.
I considered this! Would definitely be an interesting experiment. That initial tempo is far more compelling than the latter part of the song…
Awesome! Great guitar tone, and I've always loved the bass on this one. Drums sound amazing as usual!
That drum sound is absolutely NAILED. That compression hits you in the face 😄
Nice to see Mal in there, he always took great care of the boys!👍👍
easily one of my favourite beatles songs off of my favourite beatles album.

I heard its actually George on Guitar and John on Tambourine.
I don't think so. Sounds like John on guitar to me.
All sources credit George on Guitar on John on Tambourine
George credited for guitar and tambourine and John only credited for backing vocals according to the beatles Bible
Just fantastic!
