Thankfully, the Wizard times the editing so that the video is released _after_ the customer picks up their cars.
But will you even see it after it collects some wizard dust?
The jeep from twister was a j10 it was a special one called a honcho. They had the 2 or 3 tone paint scheme like seen in the movie.
Just vinyl stickers, it wasn't a paint scheme. Nothing all that special about the Honcho other than the stickers.
I can just see Mrs Wizard’s face when they’re talking about girthy driveshafts.
Actually above and beyond the remark about girthy driveshafts, that one narrows way down to a diameter that is smaller than just about any other driveshaft and it's welded together right at that diameter too. Kind of a weak-link.
I work in fleet and absolutely HATE new Jeeps with a passion.

Nice to see you here, how's the TDI jetta?
FIAT Chrysler is trash.
@@darthtyranus7683 the Liberty and Compass are not Jeeps to me. The old XJ Cherokees and Grand Cherokees from 1988 to 1998 are what I consider real Jeeps. I owned a 1976 J10 with a 360 motor. I installed a holley 650 double pumper on mine after I went through it. Dual exhaust and a mild mid range cam for pulling. I pulled a camper with it up into and through the mountains and also pulled a horse trl. with it. This was in the 80's and that truck was my pride and joy. I even had a louvered hood and tail gate to make it pretty and to let the heat out of it from the engine. I totaled it out one evening on the way home during a blizzard. I was busting through 4 foot drifts on the way home on a gravel road to my farm. The wind was blowing and it was starting to get dark. Someone had gotten their truck stuck in the middle of the road in a drift and left it. The snow had blown over the truck and only the tailgate was sticking out. All I saw was F O R D sticking out of the snow bank and I hit him at 40 miles an hour. It pushed the front end of my truck in about 6 inches and cracked the radiator. I had to jack his truck p off of my bumper and drive out from under his rear bumper. I left a note in his truck and ran for home before I had no radiator coolant left in the engine. I could not walk the 1.5miles the rest of the way home or I would have froze to death. I ruined the motor by the time I got back home. I wanted to sit down in the snow bank and cry. I loved that truck and haven't owned one like it since. Now you put one just like it on a video , well almost like it. Thank you now I got to go looking again.
The rest of the video I was just like: dont lick it again, dont lick it again

Hello, Gary?
Gary. LOL 🤓
I owned a 1972 DJ-5B the supervisor's model of the AM General Jeep. It was a left hand drive (supervisor, delivery folks used a right hand to make deliveries easy). It was rugged. Light. NO FRILLS. It had a wiper and heater. There were about 20 wires under the dash, which was metal with a plastic piece bolted on top for the defroster vents. It had no flooring other than the sheetmetal. The sliding doors were convenient and allowed you to drive basically a covered motorcycle that has a seatbelt. A 232 cu in inline 6 was powerful in a vehicle with no interior and only two seats. Light, nimble, it could almost turn in a lane of traffic, having been designed to weave around to mailboxes with parked vehicles and other obstacles in mind. A fun vehicle that always got a lot of comments. Didn't have the boxed frame of the CJ5 but was able to be used off road. Quirky was its best quality!
Glad to take us back- I had one with the "Honcho" package and 260ci.- wish I had it back!
Wizard: "Tyler, please stop licking my customers' vehicles!"
There’s a Christmas tree farm near my house that has one of these and they still use it as a work truck.

Really nice video, Mr. Wizard, and Mr. Hoovie. Thank you to all of you including the video taker!😉😉😉👍
My wife and I recently bought a 1980 Jeep J10 (with the step-side bed - *very* rare!), from a family friend. He'd decided to build an awesome off-road vehicle, so he took this thing and frame-off restored it, LS-swapped it, lifted it, put 37" tires on it, and then got into overlanding and decided to sell it, never having taken it off road. LOL. It really looks amazing -- it's painted that Toyota Army Green color you sometimes see on the new Tundra TRD Pro, except for the bed which is painted with black bed-liner. The seats inside came out of an older King Ranch Ford F-150 -- dark-brown leather really works well with the green paint.
It only has a few more things needed to make it perfect -- we're absolutely going to install a Vintage Air A/C in it, because you just can't drive around in Georgia without A/C from April to October. And there's an issue with the speedo and one with the fuel-gauge that need to be worked out. But other than that, it's going to be an amazing off-road vehicle. We're taking it to JeepFest in Pickens County, GA, this Labor Day weekend (2022).
Is the Wizard's shop Hoovie's dog house.? lol
I think they have become such good friends they are just always hanging out!
@@Goigigandfriends Tyler did talk Dave into starting his own channel.

Love your videos. Just as a history side note, my family owned a 1968 version of that truck which was actually called a Gladiator. It was a Kaiser product just before AMC bought Jeep if memory serves. Extremely tough truck built like a tank and could take you very far in the backwoods.
This Jeep reminds me of my first summer job (was 17) riding in one of these checking people's failing septic system. My co-worker driving it just had so much fun riding over rocks, creeks and tree trunks! The Jeep was company owned.

I owned one of those Grand Wagoneers and loved it. Great in the snow of northern Wisconsin and great off road -- but I did manage to get it stuck in the mud once, on Thanksgiving morning. But luckily I was in Wisconsin, the bars were open so I could call for a tow.
I’m 38 and had to get out of mechanics a few years ago. My back is toast and my elbow finally healed from severe tendinitis. I have no idea how guys do it for a living as long as they do.
You own your own shop and don't work flat rate. Flat rate kills the body and soul.
Give Commercial Plumbing a shot. Hanging cast iron (a 4 inch od 10ft length weighs 90lbs) digging ditches, crawling under buildings dragging your tools behind you. Its awesome. Everyone I've ever known that did it was strung out on pain pills by age 40-45 and had back, neck, hip and knee problems. Being a mechanic is hard to, I did that for 5 years before I went to construction. Residential plumbing with PVC and pex is OK if you can still crawl under houses, but doesn't pay as good. I shoulda stuck with college!

I’ve never once used the word “nice” in association with drum brakes.
Totally agree, damn drums are hell to work on and they don't do their job, STOP THE FING VEHICLE!
Back in the 70’s I had a CJ7 if you panic slammed on the brakes you’d change lanes.
Nothing like having your left arm twice the size of your right because of hard braking back in the day
@@radiowave75 What are the reasons semis still use drum brakes? Drums are less expensive to produce. They have a slightly lower frequency of maintenance due to better corrosion resistance compared to disks. Built-in self-energizing effect requires less input force (such as hydraulic pressure) as you know trucks use air pressure, again cheap. Drum brake wheel cylinders are somewhat simpler to recondition compared to calipers used on disk brakes. It all adds up to MONEY!
@@garys9694 Also remember - semi’s weigh 80,000 lbs. Semi truck brakes generate MASSIVE amounts of heat. Big drums are better here - you’d need a huge rotor to get the same amount of heat sink capacity.
