Bill Clifton and Red Rector played the Old Oak Folk Festival at Tusculum College in Greeneville TN in April of '78. Norman Blake headlined along w/Byron Berline, and the Roan Mountain Hilltoppers closed the show out on Saturday night. To say that weekend changed my life would be understatement. I met Red Rector early on Saturday morning: we went to breakfast and became friends until his untimely passing. I went to the Carter Fold many, many Saturday nights, and to the homecoming many years. Great to see Bill and Janette and all the other familiar faces, and hear the music I love.
