Mission Impossible 64. The random lines in the game have never escape me. Sometimes I’ll find myself saying “got it!” when I find something lost in that bizarre Ethan Hunt voice actor tone. The “Rock Steady” is the best.
Dying of laughter at the Street Fighter Alpha III announcer guy, especially when he's literally standing there watching his friend get eaten and doing absolutely nothing. My first thought was the MGS game over screen too which made me laugh even harder. A+ editing on that one Joe.
The Symphony of the Night voice acting is pure gold. Nothing will ever beat that glorious mixture of overacting, overall cheesiness and poor translation. Just like with the old Resident Evil games, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Funny note: Richter's voice actor is the same guy who did Chris on the original Resident Evil. I guess not many people ever noticed that. One of the worst (yet hilarious) voice actors I know.
Judgement: Seems like my advice had no effect. Player: Save it for the afterlife, villainous scum! I am going to make sure that you suffer... Just like G did! Judgement: Suffer like G did? Player: That's right! Suffer like BEEPing G did!!!
Valis is a Japanese game right? They probably said “varis” because the script wasn’t changed from the Japanese pronunciation which wouldn’t have used L
I recall that Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed has the same thing, with the announcer mentioning "Girius" (instead of Gilius) and occasionally mispronouncing "Danica". Some other games like Tales of Symphonia and Freedom Planet seem to have used some old spellings in the actors' scripts as well, though it didn't result in R/L issues in those cases.
I can assure you the voice acting in Dynasty Warriors is still bad. DW9 is probably the worst and it came out this year. Mega Man X7 and Prince of Persia for Sega CD are also very bad. And any of the Zelda games for CD-i.
I genuinely miss terrible voice acting the same way I do chiptunes. Gaming lost a good chunk of its identity as a medium as it became better and better at aping film and television.
Great episode. The dialogue between Richter and Dracula has been permanently embedded in my brain for how cheesy it is. I look forward to the next worst voice acting episode!
Code Veronica X on the PS2 has some of the best awful dub work I've ever heard. "Fatherrrrr!" "...Steeeeeve..." Man, you gotta check it out, it'll change your life
Something about the old Resident Evil voice acting just fits that unnatural, weird ambiance the game has going in general. The VA work is incredibly off about everything in a game that's trying to make you uncomfortable and it just adds to it. REmake, while a better game in general is just missing that.
I'm from brazil and I usually play games in english because uh... the voice acting in portuguese, most of them, are terrible. The only one game that have good voice acting that came to my mind is Grim Fandango.
Ghost Squad is indeed one of the 30 or so games on the Wii, that an adult person can play and that is actually quite good. It's not as good as House of the Dead - Overkill (that game can't be beaten) or Mad World, but it's still a good lightgun shooter. There is also a double pack of 2 arcade ports: Gunblade NY & LA MachineGuns. Also lightgun shooters. Afaik is this the only port of these games to any home console. They are also ok and the disc can be had for less than 3 bucks new.
but HOOOWW do I get back to Tokyo? Seriously though, Chaos Wars only has an English dub due to Sony's mandates, and the English producer hired his family (I believe the word for this is "nepotism") to be cheap.
House of The Dead 2 gets my vote for best voice acting. When I bought HOTD2 for my Sega Dreamcast at launch I had no idea of the absolute hilarity I would be subjected to. My favorite thing about that game is the innocent victims...they will go from running for their lives while screaming to thanking you like they're ordering a pizza. It's so deadpan and purposefully lifeless you can't help but laugh. Great stuff. Victim: "Oh my God it's going to kill me!!!" Also victim: "Have a power-up."
For non native English speaking people many of these games sound fine^^ I totally get why the Japanese were not able to notice something went wrong :-P For me the PC Engine CD games are most obviously flawed. Much of the rest is kinda "normal" to me^^
[Looks at time] "My gosh! Where did the time go? I NEED to get some sleep." [Sees Game Sack uploaded] "But I can spare exactly 30 minutes and 18 seconds."
This reminded me of friends playing DW3 at a house party back in the day, when a cutscene showed a character making a passionate speech about defending their kingdom in an overly-enunciated British accent. The moment he finished, someone at the back of the room shouted, in a pitch-perfect copy of that voice, "... because we're SO Chinese!"
I think my favorite bit of bad voice acting was from the bad ending of Alone in the Dark 2008. "I'm the Light Bringer... I'm the f***ing universe!! Did you think I'd come alone...?" Another being Todd Howard's character in The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. The other one being the entirety of the voice acting in the first Two Worlds.
I thought the acting was kind of flat, if anything- at least when it came to the minor enemies. Like some dude (who was not an actor) was just reading the lines. It's also kind of funny to recognize when one actor is playing a few different characters, or to notice the slip-ups when they put on a (mostly decent) American accent.
i have this thing with game sack that i usually dont watch an episode until a newer one is released, so that if you guys one day decide to call it quits i can at least have a last episode to watch. this channel is awesome and inspiring, great work. have a nice week
Fun episode, Game Sack guys. I suspect it was tough to pick which lines to feature from Last Alert. There are so many terrible lines, but the delivery makes it fun. If I recall correctly, Robo Aleste has some terrible voice work, and not just the intro. Also, and I believe you covered this, I Will on Laseractive was so bad, but that was full acting and not just voice. "I'm so old now!" Classic. I missed Symphony of the Night when it was new. I consider myself fortunate that the PSP version is how I first played it. I like the voices and translation much better.
Best part about the Report from hell Brisco scream, is the fact after the dead body fall's out of the locker he looks at the body for a whole 4 seconds before he screams XD
+ Tidal Yacht And even if the anime takes place in Japan, we the audience (in North America) don't speak Japanese as default, so the intricacies, class structure and conversational norms are totally lost on us. Even just as simple as "Well that's what subtitles are for" misses the entire point of localization. There are things in Japanese that North Americans just flat out won't understand. And it is NOT in the reverse here- one of our biggest exports besides the obvious ones is entertainment, specifically film and TV.
I say this: There are some actors and voice actors that have such a distinctive voice and way of speaking (or theyr voice and way of speaking just clicks with charater they are voicing) that I prefer original before any dub. I am not from English-speaking country, so I have plenty of experience with dubbing of English-speaking movies and shows. There are shows, like british Professionals, that I always watched dubbed in my mother language, so I am used to it and accept it as original (and it was my number 1 series when I was growing up). And there are shows like Superdimension Fortress Macross that I watched as a child and they had miserable voice-acting but I didn't see that at that time and now they sound just weird in "proper" form. For example, my most favourite anime, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, is just perfect in Japanese, English version isn't bad but some of main characters feels off and theyr voiceover isn't representative of theyr character in the same way as in Japanese version (there are lots of little quirks in pronunciation and way of delivery in Japanese version that are lost in English version, that is much more flat, bland and much less energic). But in my another favourite anime, Black Lagoon, I like difference in characterisation with English dub and prefer it before Japanese version. Also Cowboy Bebop is much better in English. Subtitles are distracting, and tended to be pretty much on par with the worst dubbing in terms of quality, mainly when it comes to shows and movies that aren't mainstream. I am big fan of Akira Kurosawa, and because it is costly to employ japanolog to translate correctly from Japanese to my mother language, they just take English subtitles and translate them. And man, it is bloody difference translate native English text into one of the more complex and less common languages, and here you are translating translation! But subtitles were my main way to get familiar with English, so I am not dismissing them.
@@KitsuneYojimbo I'd say I shrugged at hearing some dubbed anime from early to mid 2000-s as well. Maybe not tried any newer than that. Don't see the point in the first place, I love how Japanese sounds, so I watch with subtitles. It's also educational, after a while you start understanding like 30-50% of it not looking at the subtitles, even without intentionally studying.
I missed the new video. I guess it's because I wasn't having a beer because that's always when I see you guy's notifications. Cheers Joe and Dave! Love you guys!
What's some of the worst voice acting you've heard in a video game? Bonus points for "so bad it's good".
Awesome vid guys!
Game Sack Shenmue
Mission Impossible 64. The random lines in the game have never escape me. Sometimes I’ll find myself saying “got it!” when I find something lost in that bizarre Ethan Hunt voice actor tone. The “Rock Steady” is the best.
Resident Evil 1 and Final Fight Sega CD...." Hi Hi Hiiiiiii "
Rune Factory on PS2 (had to mute that game), Prince of Persia on Mega/Sega CD and pretty much every npc in Shenmue
They went to the Game Sack school of acting.
for8bitgamers ~ wooden....gotta see there shenmue skit they did a few years or so ago.
I was expecting that line as soon as I saw the title of this episode. I'm a little disappointed that Joe and Dave never said it.
You say like it is a bad thing.
House of the Dead 2 gets bonus points for the bizarre English script. It's practically post modern poetry.
Suffer like G did?
These guys came right out of the Gamesack School of Acting!
Funny note: Richter's voice actor is the same guy who did Chris on the original Resident Evil. I guess not many people ever noticed that. One of the worst (yet hilarious) voice actors I know.
Holy shit, now that you say that, it’s so obvious.
OH MY GOOOOOOD!
RGT 85 rip Joe's hair
RGT 85 GOD DAMN IT!!!
never say never, aging fuck us all.
16:12 - Hahahahahahahahahahahaha...
They're eating her.
And then they're going to eat me!
Oh my gooooooooddddd!
"Don't come, don't come!"
Ah, if I had a nickle for everytime I heard that...
Lol omg funny!!!😁😁😁
Why would anyone want to hear this terrible voice acting?
To suffer like G did?
Judgement: Seems like my advice had no effect.
Player: Save it for the afterlife, villainous scum! I am going to make sure that you suffer... Just like G did!
Judgement: Suffer like G did?
Player: That's right! Suffer like BEEPing G did!!!
I can’t go to sleep without hearing Joe and Dave’s smooth, buttery voices. Does anyone else go to sleep listening to their videos, too?
I fall asleep to these guys talking too
No, I haven't watched all of them. So I end up watching instead of sleeping.
Yea same here
Yep
what happened to the older guy? now its just one!
Valis is a Japanese game right? They probably said “varis” because the script wasn’t changed from the Japanese pronunciation which wouldn’t have used L
Will Bachinski I was surprised that they didn't think of that!
That's exactly what happened.
That's lazy translation for you.
Sirynx77 I've seen lazier. Zero Wing is a prime example. "WE GET SIGNAL," and all.
"Graduates of the GAME SACK School of Acting! - GAME SACK"
Who's sack is it , and why does he have loads of games in his sack? Who put them there, was it some kind of accident?
My other favourite Guy Kazama line, "I don't like roast pork!"
Ah... the famous line that gives the game it's context. Without this line, all would be lost.
I can assure you the voice acting in Dynasty Warriors is still bad. DW9 is probably the worst and it came out this year.
Mega Man X7 and Prince of Persia for Sega CD are also very bad. And any of the Zelda games for CD-i.
Console Wars Oh hi, Console Wars! Fancy seeing you on Game Sack. How'd the Sparkster stream go?
Sega CD PoP almost killed me. I still laugh at it.
What about Hotel Mario? Or any other game for the CD-i?
"Get ready fighters! : GODDAMNIT!!" Haha
“Feel the power of my… mAaaAgGiiiiiiiCcC!” That is possibly the best line reading I’ve ever heard. Perfection.
Also Megaman X4
WHAT AM I FIGHTING FOOOOOOORRRR
whatdoyouthinkyouredoing -colonel
we have nnnnnnnnnnnnnnochoice -general
Yeah, X4 has to be included if they do a part 2...lol.
Still the best Megaman game of all time tho imo. Playing as Zero is the most fun you can possibly have playing a Megaman game.
Still doesn't come close to "Doctor Whywee".
DAMN YOU GAMESACK!
Don't you dare talk bad about Castlevania voice acting!!
There's nothing more cool than "Have at you!"
😂👍
25:32 OH NO! Not Doctor WAHWEE!
Still laughing at his voice to this day lol.
Don't worry! W-Megaman will stop him!
Ah, another great game sack video with audio levels mixed perfectly to room temperature!
I think some of them are bad because the one guy in the office that "can speak english" did the translation and it sounds hammy when acted literally.
Dr. Light sounded like an older Elmer Fudd.
Zeldas Champion meanwhile, in the Mega Man 11 trailer...
agreed
Mist X Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting Mega men.
OK you got me
Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting Dr. Wahwee.
Fixed. ^
I genuinely miss terrible voice acting the same way I do chiptunes. Gaming lost a good chunk of its identity as a medium as it became better and better at aping film and television.
I miss chiptunes but I don't miss bad voice acting.
Will Mistretta I agree. Bad voice acting in video games is kind of a lost art nowadays. I miss the cheesiness that they used to provide.
Some indie games still have terrible voice acting.
OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!! I can't help but agree.
Wow so the "don't come" line in HotD2 is a reference to Time Crisis, surely? The voice acting of the whole game must be a parody
I hope this video contains Jill Sandwiches and piles of secrets
You steal mens souls!
It's not bad voice acting in Symphony though...just bad dialogue.
"You FLAMING IDIOTS!"
What about a pile of Jill Sandwiches?
Cloud Strife Or piles of secretly miserable Jill sandwiches
Great episode. The dialogue between Richter and Dracula has been permanently embedded in my brain for how cheesy it is. I look forward to the next worst voice acting episode!
Why only 210k subs in 2019? Bestest show on the internets
OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Yes my son ? What my I do for you ?
Joe is going to look like Ron Howard when he hits his 50's.
So in 7 years
Will he have a hot daughter too?
Moar like Ron Hubbard 👌🏻
I wanna hear you guys redub some of these games!
Every 2 weeks you guys restore my faith in RUclips. Thank you!!
It kills me every time that House of the Dead girl says "don't come! Don't come!" Hahaha. Yes, I'm juvenile
dmjsra04 😂😂 I mean who would choose those words tho.
Resident Evil 4 has an even better instance of "Don't come!!!"
@@samhackett5715 I gotta see that

Perfect way to end a Saturday night.
I haven't laughed like this in a while
I was itching for some more Sack!
Chris Sukosd i was just itching my sack
I don’t even think they graduated from the GameSack school of Acting. They were probably some dropouts.
That skit is so good. Just perfect. Miss dave these days. Still love you too. Keep it up! (Please) thanks
"save all mankind!", "............. I'll try" haha the best!
No Zombie Revenge or Deep Fear? Ultra Unsubbed HD 2.8 Final Mix: Game of the Year Edition!!!!

This guy knows where it's at!

See? This guy knows too!
It'll never be as good as the classic Super Unsubbed 2 Turbo Championship Edition.
“Sorry ladies first doesn’t apply on the battlefield”
O man I shuddered hard at that one ughhhhhhh...........😫
😂
Oh man these were ALL hilarious but the dialog at 10:00 takes the cake
It's actually perfectly normal for SWAT teams to handcuff hostages, odd as it may sound. I guess it's so they don't interfere
Could be, or just to get everyone out safely so they can sort out who everyone, is when the area is secure. Happens often in police raids.
Good to see you two again and still looking great! I love cringy voice acting in games like horror, as it lightens the mood. 10 out of 10 snaps!
Dynasty Warriors 3... takes me back man love the game and that cheesy voice acting... Thanks for the hilariously great episode Game Sack.
"As the President of the United States, I ask you: SAVE ALL MANKIND."

Gee, no pressure.
Reminiscent of early GameSack episodes, brilliant stuff.

Oh, ok. I bought my copy for 3 bucks new on Amazon around 3 years ago.
The Konami X-Men arcade game has some great one liners: “Juggernaut will flatten you!”, “X-Men, welcome to die!”
I unironically enjoy SoTN's voice acting. It's a product of its time.
Stop!... dont. open. that. door.
but HOOOWW do I get back to Tokyo?

The worst part about the voice acting in that game is that it sounds like they didn't even try.
Long-waited episode I was always looking for!
Light Gun games always seem to have pure voice acting gold.
That outro scene is worth at least another 200k subs. Holy hell.
Am I noticing a new format for the show? I like it.
The voices in that vampire night game reminded me of Deadly Premonition.
I’ve missed this channel. There’s no way I can catch up on all the content Can I? Better make sure RUclips doesn’t take this off my radar again
My favorite from RE1:
Enrico: "Is that Jill?"
Jill: "Is that voive... Enrico's?"

Enrico: "Yeah..."
Ha ha. Mine too. I love too how he says yeah. Like he isn’t sure. It’s like yeah?

my fave bit in HOTD2 is "G's blood stains???" like they recognise a person's blood.
You should do a GS on mistakes in games, like the one lady in Oblivion who messes up her line so she says it twice, completely uncut.
“I don’t wanna be in that club!”
I think my favorite bit of bad voice acting was from the bad ending of Alone in the Dark 2008.

Two worlds is horrifically bad across the board, especially thr voice acting
The Jill sandwich line is classic..lol
I'm still looking for the Worts voice acting in this video as advertised. But, hey, I love all your videos. Keep it up!
I always thought there was something off about the voice acting in Perfect Dark (N64).

The tone you take with your kid when they spilled milk on the floor: (deep voice) "Oh No! What happened!?"
=D
Dynasty warriors 9 voice acting. Not even funny bad, just low effort why even bother bad.

When Barry says "Jill sandwich" he splits Jill's name into two syllables with such emphasis that it almost sounds like "Jiggle Sandwich." 26:21
You guys know a thing or two about bad acting don't you 😏
A good contender for part 2: Flashback on Sega CD. It's hilarious.

I hope you'll make a second episode of this, you forgot to include Megaman X4, X7 and Ape escape to the list
You got Chaos Wars in! I saw/heard it on another YT video, which said the actors were simply relatives of the U.S. localizers.
