To update, the app has changed a lot but yes it still works. it now uses the cloud gaming system which causes a much less stable connection. i don't see why they did this but if you have a good enough connection it shouldn't cause you much issue.
works great! but I do have a question. what if I was in discord with friends on pc, would it still capture game audio fine/ could i still hear game audio? would i have to plug my mic into the pc or keep it into the controller?

Good question! I reckon if you set the game chat to come out the speakers on the Xbox it should work as it will pass it through. I haven't tried though, sorry.

I bought this monitor for working purposes only but since I have a Xbox I'm thinking about giving the streaming a go. Also I'm very eager to "review" a few games from my Xbox (not very happy with the postpone of games to 2023) and so I'd need some footage. Pardon my ignorance because maybe it has nothing to do with the capture. Anyway I'd like to get the best captions possible with this method described in your video. Thanks

yes it no longer works because they removed the windows gaming preview in the insider hub the only way i know of connecting is with a capture card but other then that i don't know if you know reply.
This isn't new you have been able to do this on the old xbox app for years but good video for anyone who didn't know but xbox insider isn't needed it's better to just use the old xbox app
Technically the old Xbox Companion app doesn't work with the Series S / X I don't think. Good shout on the insider not needed any more, I'll trim it from the vid. Thanks.
My new Dell G15 will not display my xbox for anything. I am so confused especially because my older Dell streamed fine. I followed all these steps and it just does not display the app. What could it be?

I tried this before watching your video, and before buying my capture card. Streaming with the xbox companion app lags, and performance to stream drops poorly. So I wouldn't recommend this setup.
I was using this and it was really helpful but now all of a sudden my game chat cannot be recorded bcz earlier my laptop speaker would out game chat aufio along with game audio but now if headsets are connected game chat audio on comes out of headsets and not speakers therefore i am unable to record game chat!!!! I play on Xbox Series X If I have a 4k 60hz HDR10 FreeSync monitor and I want to stream in 4k, will it work too ? I know it might be the streaming software that might allow 4k streaming or not. Like RUclips Gaming vs Twitch Thanks for the video !
However, what this does support is the ability for you to continue playing in 4k HDR Freesync whie streaming. Pretty much no capture cards would pass that through
so whenever i stream my game from the xbox app on my pc there is a huge delay gap between where i am on my game and what it shows on the xbox app, at least like a 2-5 minute delay. how do i fix this?
so basically i can't do what i want to do It blocks your from opening the OneGuide app with remote cuz MS has intentionally blocked from streaming passthrough and abandoned the console companions app with the streaming issue

Got a problem: when I try to stream the XBOX to OBS somehow the connection interupts and I got no sound anymore in OBS from the XBox. I run OBS on Windows 11. I've got sound issue since I updated the O.S. to Windows 11. I can't go back to Windows 10 anymore. Is there another way to get sound from my console to OBS in Windows 11? I have it connected from console to HDMI and the HDMI into a video capture USB. A cheaper one though. It should be working fine (read the reviews of the capture card).

looks good so far, not played/recorded yet... hope still get the 1080p 60fps (MSI RTX4060 Ventus 16GB/Xbox and PC on gigabit LAN)

You have to have your console on and logged into the account you wanna play on.

if you still don’t have to connection icon you can try opening the xbox companion app and looking in the left panel it worked for me

Yep overlays etc should work fine. I haven't tried with SLOBS but don't see why it shoudn't work :)
Yes it will as streamlabs obs is just a more glorified and basic version of obs thats built primarily on twitch!

between this and the tech cannon released i can now capture my xbox and use a dslr to stream with no capture cards this is awesome lol

It still works but i cannot click off of obs otherwise the Xbox app will keep saying "ClIck To ConTiNUE pLaYiNG" and makes the whole screen go black
Put your cursor on the top of the screen in the middle and press the space out tap and while it’s unpaused click on obs

You should be able to join the Xbox party via the Xbox app on PC and route the sound from there

Normally caused by two graphics cards. Maybe try the SLI capture setting in OBS?

Isn’t there a way to do this wired? Like HDMI and power cord? Or do you have to use the app to be able to stream

Yep, set your camera up in OBS as normal and overlay on top

Strangely keeping the xbox app window open at the largest size you can appears to help

Works perfectly here :-) the new Xbox app is a bit different to the old Xbox Companion App too.

In the video my Xbox is connected to a gaming monitor separately. You can play Xbox games on your PC using the Xbox App but there is a tiny bit of lag
