One thing Ive noticed from most people here is that Scania is the way to go, and I fully agree! Mind you, no real world experience yet, just simulations. However, in those I found that Scania was far easier to control and manage than Volvo. Given they both dominate the super heavy hauling market, thatnks to design and handling I'd go Scania any day!
This is a difficult one! The New MAN interior is very nice and from a friend they drive really well, even better than a Volvo. I’ve driven the New Volvo FH, the new Actros and the Last Gen Scania, not Next Gen and so far the Volvo has been the most comfortable. The duel clutch is the best ever but the normal i-shift is slow compared to Scania’s older box and Mercedes Gearbox is just poop. When i drive the next Gen i can give a better opinion. But i am enjoying my older Scania for now.
I've driven a 2019 MAN TGX580 with rigid chassis and dolly+trailer and I can immediately say that I think Volvo and Scania are better. I mostly drive a next gen Scania R580 with rigid chassis and regular 4-axle, full trailer, but sometimes when that is not available I drive a 2019 Volvo FH540 Dual Clutch with the same configuration. The Scania has the better engine and better cab comfort, in my opinion, but the Volvo has the better transmission and is better for reversing due to the electric steering. The Volvo is also sometimes better suited for our kind of deliveries since the ground can be uneven. That's easily fixed by using the tilt function with the air suspension. It can til the truck side to side so that you get a more level surface to put the rear lift on.
Agreed the volvo is definitely the most comfortable truck to sit in! The dual clutch is very nice but most people don't have it and the next gen scania has such fast gear changes it doesn't make a massive difference! I havent drive the new gen MAN but have heard a lot of good stuff about it... as for the mercedes they are all wank in my book haha! Would definitely take a scania over anything else.
@@Trucking_Tom MAN almost feels like driving a bus. The steering wheel is huge and the cab feels really wide so you tend to hold out more from obstacles on your right side if you're not used to driving them.
@@Trucking_Tom It's not the new gen. But since I've also driven 2 other MAN trucks of 2 generations ago, too, it's safe to say that I prefer Volvo and Scania over some German wannabe's.
In my company (tipper work) we have had expirience with all brands of european trucks over a 25 year experience and we have found that MAN and Mercedes are the best construction trucks out of them all. Very nice video btw!
yeah i feel that - i mean no way MAN and Mercedes sell that good, if Scania and Volvo would be that OP. MAN is especially on the run because of low fuel consumption - Volvo and Scania mostly for the specialist tasks. But the street is actually filled with middle sized Mercedes :D
@@kanalisationerstellenthey sell that good because they are much much cheaper than Scania and Volvo. There can be easily difference more than 20k eur when you compare similar MAN vs Scania and price goes way higher when you put v8 in it. Previous gen MANs are crap compared to previous gen Scania (had tgx 2011 tgx, now have 2013 R series) especially in interior quality but comfort too, engine of man was good, at least in terms of performace. This week i was offered new TGX and accepted it, truck looks amazing from outside and interior has improved a lot too but today I got another offer from my boss that he got a good deal on next gen R series so I will have that one instead of MAN. Anyway, I often use "MAN is good but Scania is Scania"
European Big Rigs far and away Outclass (except Volvo US) any of the Aluminum and Riveted cabs cobbled together here in the US. European cabs are designed to Protect their occupants. They use High Strength Steel with welded seams.
I am lucky in that my first class 1 HGV job landed me in a Scania S500. I've driven DAF, Volvo and Merc as an agency sub, but Scania really are comfortable to work in and nice to drive.
I've reviewed a Mercedes Actros in my channel, I've seen all sorts of trucks from all brands, I even visited the Mercedes and DAF museum! All I can definitely confirm is that: All four brands have a long reputation in the truck business, although Mercedes has had the longest, even before the world wars. But having a long reputation doesn't mean best: Scania has a nice design and a top choice for modifications (some people love tuning their Scania V8). Scania trucks are nice to look at, very reliable too, but can be expensive, and that too they don't meet demands in the light weight truck segment. Volvo is the Toyota of trucks: VERY reliable, but super boring. Volvo displays the most concern over safety. But like Scania, Volvo appears to be expensive. They may not be appealing to look at, but its their safety, engine power and reliability that does the magic. That too Volvo owns Renault trucks, meaning they have an advantage in the light weight truck segment. MAN has the nicest interior out of them all. For reliability, well they don't last very long, here in Belgium they vanish faster than French cars. But I have noticed MAN is a VERY popular choice for super heavy haulage. MAN has a good reputation with crane trucks, or any truck that involve heavy duty or construction. Mercedes is the opposite of Volvo: VERY appealing exterior and interior, but hit-or-miss reliability. Here in Belgium, Mercedes and MAN don't last very long. Mercedes trucks look like they mean serious business, which they are, but they also require maintenance, or else they fall apart catastrophically. So to sum up: Scania is best with long routes, logistics, logging, construction, etc... everything, but at a price. They are now where to be seen as garbage trucks. Volvo is best with long routes, logistics, logging, construction, etc..., everything, but at a price too, they are also never used a garbage trucks. MAN is best with super heavy haulage. Mercedes is best with everything, but at a price. No guaranteed reliability. However in Brussels they used as garbage trucks.
Scania is the least reliable trucks in Europe mate 😂 If you want reliable, comfortable, cost-effective trucks, you'd go for german Mercedes-Benz or MAN, or dutch DAF.
Nice, I didn't know that Volvo does a factory 5 axle. I skipped the Scania part because I am loyal to my Volvo. I might look at other woman but never a other truck...
I drove the Volvo 500 2018 was comfortable but now I am driving MAN 2015 I thought it was bad vehicle but maybe if I want to start my own company then the best price second hand one is the MAN TGX I think it's better than DAF XF IN maintenance or less going to garage ? Any advices for new starters and better truck in price as second hand ones ??
Based on 25 years experience I can say Scania make the worst trucks in Europe. Out of date interior, uncomfortable, underpowered, and a split fuel tank that is a PITA. The vast majority of Scania’s are poverty spec workhorses with no power and a terrible Interior. Those shiny straight piped V8’s are a tiny tiny minority in a sea of mediocrity. And even those are terrible to drive and give you a headache after 30minutes.
One thing Ive noticed from most people here is that Scania is the way to go, and I fully agree! Mind you, no real world experience yet, just simulations.
