I thought Jay Shetty, studying as a monk, would be the one teaching this. You asked, What made you trust your gut at such a young age? Alicia Keys had perfect answer. We're born with that, and (many - not all) get talked/trained out of that purity, curiosity, nerve, as we go. Her single parent mother (and the grace of God, imo) apparently shielded her just enough from jaded naysayers. And she just kept it. Didn't have to GET IT, just kept what was given at birth. And we're all better for it, when this happens to us, or people around us. These are the best, most true role models.
Love the talk at the end. Some mixture about being Talented + Humble can really create a bad sense of self worth on top of being simple/not wanting things. Book sounds like a must read!

I love talks with you both, to have y'all together is very unifying for listeners as well. I can relate to trying to lower my needs and goals. For me I believe it was a defensive mechanism in attempt to not challenge myself because I used to associate challenge with stress. I used to feel uncomfortable about making mistakes and having to learn or being a disappointment for self and others. Now I feel truly ready to push and take on the world and see myself in it. Rather than attempting to play it safe and small. It's still uncomfortable at times, but I trust I'm being more radical than I know❤️🎯
I was at Alicia's concert in Poland on Sunday which was a dream come true. For me she's an icon as a female in music industry. She's passionate about music, life and women's rights and you can hear it in all of her songs. She's a very unique person with a good energy and you can feel it when she speaks and when she walks on stage. I admire her honest way of speaking
Unbelievable that someone as beautiful and talented as she is would not recognize her value and then think that part was just being humble all to finally see now it’s really having self worth issues is truly growth on her part. Facts indeed! "Selling your soul" is simply living the life of someone else hence lacking "Individuality" as quoted by an author "Individuality" is acknowledging that others have shaped you. Breaking free and doing your geometry. Lol seriously as Alicia said it's not about money, or any actual physical exchange. Those ideas and perceptions are negative. They are negative simply because the thought isn't one's own reality. Simply use your own mind. Peridot lol for years people would always say "Keosha is so stubborn" " She has a mind of her own" lol who's mind is it? Mine or someone else. Lol People subconsciously speak from a co owned mind
