That is an acorn weevil. We actually already made a film about them. But it doesn't surprise me if you were unaware of it. The RUclips algorithm has just completely stopped sharing our content. Here is a link to it: ruclips.net/video/2ftGZcuNaWM/видео.html&ab_channel=TeamCandiru
dude, this is a mind blowing rig, I always wanted to build one like that and shoot some Microcosmos-like docus.. Im gonna check Chris channel right now. And BTW I have been sharing your videos with my students, thanks for the great job!
Great question. Basically some lenses have focus rings that will just keep turning. The nikon 105mm macro for instance. The D-series 60mm macro that is used in the video doesn't have this. So when it gets to it's limit what happens is that the focus motor starts to 'crawl' around the lens instead of turning the ring. It doesn't do any damage, so you just observe that it's happening and stop engaging the focus motor.
Pretty much the only thing in common with the AR series is the way that the motors and drivers are wired up. The first one was a modified AR2, but I needed to make some serious changes to make it suitable for filming.
@@hanzup4117 Ha! Nice one. Although I should state as this is a public forum and all that we actually have a really good relationship with the BBC NHU and frequently do filming for them. The BBC are a great bunch to be honest.
Simply amazing. Team Candiru is the benchmark for macro cinematography, hands down.
Thanks!
Ok, great new camera, but when are you gonna tell us about this little guy helping you show it off?
They already did a video on it, I think it's called an acorn weevil?

Amazing photography! So clear and close-up! Truly an art, coming from expert talent and skill!!
Wow, Im really looking forward to your future videos!
Thanks!
Nice work! I appreciate how hand made this is to get exactly the result you want!
Nice story. Very attractive and interesting subject for video best wishes from Ukraine.😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😮
This looks amazing! Love the content this channel creates, would love to see a video about Mecoptera, Protura, or Psocodea some day 😉

the designer of the robot sure loved massive cogwheels^^ gnomish macro filming robot xtreme
That is absolutely incredible!
aaah that looks like proper robotics :) is this a continuous servo for the focus? how do you end stop it?
That is a continuous servo. Well spotted. What to you mean by end stop? It's controlled by the triggers on the Xbox controller.
@@TeamCandiru how do you sense to stop without grinding the gears of the servo when the focus comes to it's limits.

nice rig, i cant wait to see new videos made with it!
This video was shot using this rig. ruclips.net/video/2ftGZcuNaWM/видео.html&ab_channel=TeamCandiru
You had me at the Xbox controller! #SUBSCRIBED
Looks Amazing!
Do you use manual focus?
Robot yang mengamati serangga menarik sekali 🤔🤔🤔👍👍👍
Say I wonder how did you guys do the weevil video because it involved seasonal changes was it a longer video to make or did you stage it?
Do you mean the acorn changing colour? That was staged. If removed from a tree they will turn brown in a few weeks.
0:25, I like how someone tagged the robot with the word "sex", lol
is there any way one could learn how to build one of these? Are you guys usually using the Gh5?
Yeah, GH6 now but yes the Panasonic single lens mirrorless are great. If you want to build one I suggest copying Chris Annins AR3 robot.
Anything common with the AR2 anymore? Looks very much customized to me.

Ya gotta ROBOT??!! Father Christmas delivered, then, to all of us.
Thanks, this is actually an old video. I just reedited it because I wasn't happy with the photography in the first one.
Not surprised there is an Xbox controller. For this shots you need a better grab and accuracy, not a dualshock 😎
:0 He said it
please don’t tell me i was the only one web surfing n thought the bug was the camera for a hot second :/
611 views?! That's criminal!
The algorithm is burying this channel just now.
@@TeamCandiru The BBC probably asked them to do it because you're crushing it! Never give up :)

We 100% LOVE deeplook! They are very much friends of the channel. Those guys had our backs from day one.
Give the weevil some privacy will ya

Got a video of a caterpillar getting s***faced on good weed? 🙂
So big and chunky, why not aluminium construction rails? Many furniture can be easily find, and easy modification and tuning option is good.
