OMGosh.......... "Then Came You" by Lisa Kleypas, the first book in the Gambler's Series, is on of my all time favorite romances - love Derek Craven's introduction in this story, too. I adore Lily! Def pulled on my heart strings 💗
Oh my gosh! I LOVED Saving Grace. It's one of my favorites of Julie Garwood's along with The Secret and Ransom (sequel to The Secret).. I loved the fact she was made to marry a Scottish laird. She had been married to an English Lord who abused her. Julie Garwood's use of funny scenes and clever repartee are very enjoyable. I can't believe you didn't like it. I love Amanda Quick's books too.😊
I'm 53 and I used to read my mom's bodice rippers. The Kadin by Bertrice Small was the first one I read at about 12. These types of books remind me of my mom.
I LOVED this video! Thank you! I went to a used book store literally after i watched your video and found Gentle Rogue and Hearts Aflame. The used book store i found has a huge historical romance section and all 50 cents! Im obsessed. I got this book by Lavyrne Spencer called Hummingbird. W beautiful cover. Its about a train robbery and she has to care for two shot men. One a sweet man who is considered "good", one is the bad guy robber and guess who she falls in love with haha. I havent read yet.
"A Knight in Shining Armor" is my favorite wallow book. It's not brilliant, but it gives me a good cry in the beginning scenes. I own four cover variations of it.
Johanna Lindsey is my all time favorite historical romance author. My favorites: Savage Thunder, Fires of Winter, Warrior's Woman, Love Me Forever, and most of the Malory Anderson series. I have read all her books, owned them all but then traded them in for credit at used book store. Then......she died....I was devastated!!!! I am now in the process of trying to purchase all her books again (in hardback form) and I am only missing seven now.
My daughter had has read of her books except the last one. She stopped because she lost her muse. I mean 😪 more softer when the actors stopped the bodice rippers.
Fun video...yes to a sequel! I'm an Amanda Quick/Jayne Castle/Jayne Ann Krentz fan with 2+ bookshelves devoted to her physical books. Both Reckless and Deception involve pirate-related issues, but no sea time. The Reckless heroine is a publisher of novels, including some written by the hero. The Deception hero has the eye patch and goes undercover as tutor for the heroine's nephews. I also recommend Dangerous with its ghost-hunter heroine.
I’ve read about half of these books and Silver and Sapphires is on my August Readathon TBR. Flowers from the Storm was on it but I moved it to September. Looking forward to it.
Bookmarking God tier right now!!! I've read half of the God tier but definitely excited about the ones that I haven't. I just finished reading Ravished.. it was so good!
I got a bunch of oldies for a quarter each recently- including that Jude Deveraux one. I should read it soon because it sounds right up my alley 🤣 Johanna Lindsey is my favorite! They’re so fast and so fun. I recently read The Flame and the Flower; kinda slow paced but alright. I’m curious to read more of her books.
The Silver Devil by Teresa Denys is a crazy old school classic. Unfortunately, I was going to get it but Amazon wants 3000 for paperback. Once More Miranda or Love's Tender Fury, Jennifer Wilde (Tom E. Huff); Bertrice Small, Skye O'Malley; Sweet Savage Love, Rosemary Rogers; Natasha Peters, Savage Surrender; and of course Kathleen Woodiwiss' The Flame and the Flower or a few others of hers. Then there's Laurie McBain, Johanna Lindsey, of course. So many old school authors. These books have survived for a reason. And i guess, seeing all the garbage on Amazon these days, I understand why. Thanks for your great reviews. Your channel is where I go when I need to get a book. I've read a lot of books you've recommended and I haven't been disappointed.
"Once and always" is my favorite by McNaught! I'm really surprised you didn't put her books in the "God Tier" category, but it is nice to hear your review of the book! Thanks for the video! +"Whitney, My Love" is just a wonderful book!
If it's been a while, give it another read through. O&A was one of my favorite Old School historicals that I read dozens of times in the past, but I reread it last summer after at least a decade. Their wedding through the end was just awful, and I guess I forgot they were cousins! Second thought, don't reread as I don't want to ruin the memory for you.
Try Rosemary Rogers her plots if I remember right are bonkers ( Sweet savage love) I don’t know how they hold up in today’s world. I would like to get your take on her books.
Yessss!! Sweet Savage Love was my first historical romance book. Second was Wicked Loving Lies. I still read both every year. Rosemary Rogers was a fantastic writer and her historical research was amazing considering her work was done before Google and the internet!
Wow, I’m sure I’ve read more than half of these…my favorite of course is Shanna. I think I like it so much because we actually saw her evolve from a selfish young woman into a strong, loving, mature woman. We don’t get to see such a character shift in romance.
Not only are these My favorite old school but they are my favorite of all time. They are Whitney my love, the Shadow and The Star by Laura Kinsale, and The Windflower by Sharon and Tom Curtis. Definitely read these if you haven’t. I have reread them numerous times.
I know you had it on a TBR video (and one of your favorite authors recommended it, but I don't remember who that was), but you really need to get to Night in Eden by Candace Proctor. I'm sure you will love it because it's so full of angst. It's one of my all-time favorite old school romance books. I'm going to keep recommending it until you read it!! LOL
You need to read Connie Brockway- As you desire. :D it’s a touch of the mummy /romancing the stone -> meets historical romance with dyslexia rep. And the sequel the other guys bride is even better!
Sometime you should give Pamela Morsi a try. Her work is so different and interesting and emotional. Garters and Marrying Stone/Simple Jess are my favorites.
I agreed with all this! Great video! I would love for you to read Ransom by Julie Garwood. Also, three books from Mary Wine, Highland Spitfire, In Bed With A Stranger and The Highlander's Promise.
I loved the secret I reread it often. I think it's because of the deep female friendship that made it god-tier. I would put saving grace under really liked. Have you read the prize by Julie Garwood? so good!
I love the sweeping adventures of Old School far more than new historicals, but I grew up on those, reading them since probably 1994. It's great to see you taking these up and enjoying them as much as I do. You've got some great authors here (love McNaught, Graham/Drake, Garwood), but try a Deveraux: Raider (Pre-Revolutionary War), Princess (WW2), or 'Can't Remember the Name' but it was with Hank & Amanda mid-1910s labor movement in CA are a great place to start. There's Sweet Liar, too but that's a contemporary... at least in 1995. 😊 Lisa Ann Verge wrote a few in the late 1990s that were great, too; I recently tore through her blacklist. Jenkins is my 'break in case of emergency' author, so I haven't read a single one yet.
Love this! Just bought the secret! Bertrice Small was my first HR author so Im bonded with her lol. Some of her books are bonkers/God tier for me. Who was your first HR author?
I wonder if you've been introduced to Karen Marie Morning's Highlander romance series. .. Books four to seven are quite....absorbing. They are more contemporary than historical, with a touch of sci-fi and fantasy in them. Great plots and stories in addition to the romance.
Couldn't make out many of these books or the authors. You speak so fast dear and I struggled trying to figure out what you were saying. Is there a list I can refer to?
OMGosh.......... "Then Came You" by Lisa Kleypas, the first book in the Gambler's Series, is on of my all time favorite romances - love Derek Craven's introduction in this story, too. I adore Lily! Def pulled on my heart strings 💗

You read the Karin at 12 my daughters read the princess by Jude Devereux at the same age.
This was so fun! I love your Historical Hellions book club with Samantha because we read such a variety of old-school historicals.
Me too! It’s introduced me to so many amazing books!
Flowers From the Storm is God Tier imo.
Yep! I reread it each year it is so good.
Flowers from the storm is still my absolute fav 💕
It’s such a good book!
If you want to read Judith McNaught and Kathleen Woodiwiss, I’d read them with you. Kathleen Woodiwiss’s books are coming to audio at the end of July.
I LOVED this video! Thank you! I went to a used book store literally after i watched your video and found Gentle Rogue and Hearts Aflame. OMG! This is such a fun video! I love seeing all of our historical hellion picks 🥹🥰
"A Knight in Shining Armor" is my favorite wallow book. It's not brilliant, but it gives me a good cry in the beginning scenes. I own four cover variations of it.
This video was so fun to watch!! I love seeing where you rank these historicals!!
Thank you 🥰🥰
If I read The Secret I will 'bingo' the God Tier 😝 I did really enjoy Reckless from Amanda Quick.
I definitely want to try out that one by Amanda Quick soon!!
Johanna Lindsey is my all time favorite historical romance author. My favorites: Savage Thunder, Fires of Winter, Warrior's Woman, Love Me Forever, and most of the Malory Anderson series. I need to read more from her! That’s so impressive you own most of her hardbacks!
My daughter had has read of her books except the last one. She stopped because she lost her muse. I mean 😪 more softer when the actors stopped the bodice rippers.

I really need to read The Flame and the Flower!
@@PeaceLoveBooksxo The Wolf and the Dove is the best one I've read of Kathleen Woodiwiss.
A Knight in Shining Armor is one my favorites, even if it is a little bonkers. 💕Ravished is on my TBR list.
I cannot wait to get into Night Song! I just found 9 of Beverly Jenkins books at an estate sale and that's one of them! Love her work!
Oh my gosh, that’s amazing! Her books are hard to come by used!
The Silver Devil by Teresa Denys is a crazy old school classic. Unfortunately, I was going to get it but Amazon wants 3000 for paperback. I read the new version about 9 years ago and was very different of the others I think 🤔 that was like gone with the wind.
My sister gave me once and always I should to read. It will be the first book I read of Mrs. McNaught.
Once and Always was my favorite Judith McNaught book!
Lord of scoundrels was really good.
Try Rosemary Rogers her plots if I remember right are bonkers ( Sweet savage love)
I don’t know how they hold up in today’s world. I would like to get your take on her books.
I own a few of her books! She’s on my tbr!!
Yessss!! Sweet Savage Love was my first historical romance book. Second was Wicked Loving Lies. I still read both every year. Rosemary Rogers was a fantastic writer and her historical research was amazing considering her work was done before Google and the internet!
You should definitely do Whitney, My Love for one of your book clubs! The live will be entertaining to watch for sure.
Wow, I’m sure I’ve read more than half of these…my favorite of course is Shanna. I think I like it so much because we actually saw her evolve from a selfish young woman into a strong, loving, mature woman. We don’t get to see such a character shift in romance.
Yes Shanna was the first romantic book.
Also the first book fires of winter is the mother and father's story before hearts of flame and surrender my love.
I really want to read that one!!

Awesome writer! Read this based on a bookclub recommendation. Read all I could find then by this author.
@@cathystaerkel1833 I have all of her books on my TBR. I just finished Whisper of Heaven. Which was also good.
Kennedy Ryan recommended it! I definitely want to read it!!
@@PeaceLoveBooksxo Ms. Ryan has excellent taste!

I love your possessive characters and ❤ 😍 your recommendations
Sometime you should give Pamela Morsi a try. Her work is so different and interesting and emotional. Garters and Marrying Stone/Simple Jess are my favorites.
Dreaming of You was published in 1994, definitely god tier.
Ugh I was looking at the other edition that came out in 2003! Definitely loved that book 👏🏻👏🏻
Love Only Once is perfection, but I’m a Stan for Julie Garwood, Lisa Kleypas, Beverly Jenkins, and Nora Roberts.
I agreed with all this! Great video! I would love for you to read Ransom by Julie Garwood. Also, three books from Mary Wine, Highland Spitfire, In Bed With A Stranger and The Highlander's Promise.
I’m reading Ransom in July! And I love In Bed With a Highlander!
I loved the secret I reread it often. I think it's because of the deep female friendship that made it god-tier. I would put saving grace under really liked. Have you read the prize by Julie Garwood? so good!
I haven’t read The Prize yet! I need to read more of her backlist!
Shanna is the OG definition of absolutely bonkers. It’s like 3 books in one.
This is such a good reference. Thank you 🙏
You need to read surrender my love by Joanna Lindsey that is hearts of flames next book with her brother
Love your historical content!😍
Thank you 🥰
My favorite Beverly Jenkins books are “Vivid” and “Indigo”
I really need to read
Vivid!
I love Lord of Scoundrel's, Ravished, Texas Destiny, Flowers from the Storm, and (of course) The Secret.
I love the secret

I love time travel a knight in shining armor one of the best book I have read.Jude Deveraux sold 800, hundred thousands
"She's ruined because they spent the night alone... cuz the dead body doesn't count" 😂😂😂
But it’s true 😂😂😂
Have you read Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught? That is very good.
This book killed me. McNaught generally kills me then brings me back to life. I hate her and love her too.
I haven’t read that one!
@@PeaceLoveBooksxo when next you're on the HR train this Has to be there. Please please please. It's - just read the damn book☺️

I’m planning on reading her O’Malley series!
Love this! Just bought the secret!
Bertrice Small was my first HR author so Im bonded with her lol. Some of her books are bonkers/God tier for me. Who was your first HR author?
