Pinned comment for future updates: -10/17, My mistake, just updated title, I accidentally had the "Max" wording as I had copy/pasted from previous video. To confirm, this is the iPhone 15 Pro, not the 15 Pro Max.
Most reviews I've seen have mentioned the lens transitions, so I'm hoping Google will work on making it smoother. FHD at 30fps in active stabilization mode should be at least 2.8K at 60fps by now. I think we should be able to use each lens with active stabilization mode, and it could definitely use a step up in the level of stability it adds. The blur video mode was added because the iPhone has it, but it really needs some improvement. Also, I don't understand why we don't have a 1x, and 5x option in portrait mode. The 1.5x crop being forced is just weird.
On the Pixel, don't use Portrait mode! Although it can produce good results, you loose the original. It is simple to apply the effect afterwards, gives better results, and you have control over blur and depth AND YOU CAN USE IT WITH 5X! Also, by not switching between modes all the time, you never have the wrong mode for your next picture.
So strage that so many camera comparisons have completely different results. On some the iphone wins nearly every test and in others the pixel 8 pro dominates.
I think this is a testament to two things: a) both are just reeaaally good b) bias is real :) Best Test I found so far is from "Lover of Tech". Seems very unbiased and absolutely tests everything side by side. Even there it's close in many situation. Without a direct comparison side-by-side I probably wouldn't notice a difference in many photos/videos.
Could be a newer software update on the pixel? Most of the reviews came out the day of the launch and some even a day before. Its been like a week now.
@@Matrium0second this in regards to lover of tech having by far the most unbiased camera comparisons, here's hoping his channel explodes to drown out all the rest of the biased reviewers.
Not sure what the comments take away is. People who already have the iphone will say it is better than the pixel or the pixel gives weird results, and the people who already have a pixel will find fault with the iphone pictures. They don't want to admit that they bought a phone that is not the best at everything. I have both and I have to say that this year the pixel 8 pro does have some amazing features.
The Audio Magic Eraser has huge potential. I definitely don't want to remove the whole background noise, but reducing it down to like 25% or so to help enhance voices will do wonders.
There is just something about the picture quality of the Pixel, it has this je ne sais quoi. I catch myself taking more pictures of random things with the Pixel and overall care more about photography with the Pixel than I ever had when I had an iPhone
I cannot leave a Pixel for it's software and Siri, but man do I love the iPhone camera. That little extra bit of warmth makes photos so much more please to the eye TO ME.
Pixel 8 pro has pushed the game of photography again. Introducing new things that others will adopt later to improve their camera. Video Boost hasn't even been released yet which will up the quality of video even more. They both traded blows in video. no clear winner. Photos though, hands down the Pixel is consistently better. I'm not sure we are even seein the photos in the ultra hdr quality. A lot of social media sites can't show Ultra HDR. YUou can adjust the blur in cinematic mode on the Pixel 8 pro. I believe you can on Iphone as well
Have been using Pixel phones to shoot my travel films and each year they are getting better. Really wish they had manual controls though. Would love to be able to manual focus-shift during a shoot. Right now I'd have to just let the AF focus from foreground to background (but it happens too quick) and custom video apps (that I've tried) don't seem to work too well.
I love my pixel 6A and I've been a Google loyalist ever since the original Nexus One, but these AI solutions aren't all that great on anything other than a small cell phone screen. If you zoom in, it's not hard to see the artifacts, ghosting, or softness, where details were covered or filled in. I've made the mistake of printing some of these for frames in my house, and they do not look good.
On a larger screen why do photos taken by a Pixel 7 Pro look better in every way than those taken by the Pixel 8 Pro. Don't believe me?.. Try it for yourself. The 8 Pro has too much sharpening and contrast and saturation by far.
Just remember, the more there's a red hue on the image, the less light gets in the camera. It's just physics, (Red shifting) less light processed, less quality in color
nice to see both capable and trading blows the google pixel bug bear is the processor from samsung baked with ML AND AI and more software trickery....google should give proper hardware like snapdragon processors for the price it commands.....nice comparison......both doing a fine job 👍
Pixel photos have a magenta Tint and are over sharpened. iPhone has a green tint. iPhone records cinematic from all lenses, Pixel doesn't. They both have their pros and cons but neither is king.
Bruh what?? Pixel has a reddish tone in every pictures and every photos arent even captured by the hardware. The software processes it lol. They are using the same camera sensor since pixel 4. Also the photos are relatively oversharpened and low light is a joke. But the iPhone too has greenish tint too. But compared to pixel it looks natural. If iPhone can get rid of that greenish tint it will be the best camera smartphone.( You can do it through Pro RAW or JPEG ) Neither are the kings.
This is probably the first time that I will say that the iPhone is the better choice this year and that I won't mind spending more for it. I am a big Android user and fan for years and don't get me wrong, I used iPhones too but I always end up selling it because it's not just an overall experience for me. Well my girlfriend owns iphone 15 pro max and well I was surprised that the changes from the cameras has a big difference and well I waited for the launch of pixel but right now after a week of using it I can definitely say that the iPhone's a17 bionic is the best processor you can have right now hence the reason why I switched to 15 pro max and currently using it now while writing this comment.
I was able to pay off the Pixel 8 Pro 512GB "Bay" with subscription and promotional deal for 458 euros. Extraordinary deal. I'll even pass up the OnePlus 12 and Honor Magic 6 Pro for that! Happy 😎🎉
Exactly! I'm sick and tired of people saying the G3 processor is "fast enough" and benchmarks don't mean anything yet this is the reason why it falls flat. Also, not having UFS 4.0 storage on a so called flagship device in late 2023 is utterly ridiculous.
I"ve been testing the Pixel 8 Pro pretty vigorously the last week and I think the video is still pretty bad.... I really want it to like it but it can't compete with my iPhone 13 Pro Max; i find it hard to believe it competes with the 15.
