    Yes!! I need this channel!’ Tell me what is the first thing I should do after unpacking and plugging it in and how would u best record and loop an acoustic instrument. I play cello ( if it were electric, I don’t think I would ask!) I guess I should mic or use a pick up. Your reply is appreciated!

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  6 лет назад

      +Picco bow you could use a mic. Baut the Mic will pick up a lot of noise from the room. So some sort of pickup probably works best. But I am not an expert in picking up chelli.

    2 questions
    1. What kind of cords do I need to run the station
    2 Does it need speakers if so what kind/brand

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  4 года назад

      The cords depnd on the instruments on the one hand and on the PA on the other side:
      To connect a guitar you will need a simple intrument cable.
      And yes: You need speakers. Either active speakers or an amplifier and speakers.

    I need help. let's say rather than using all three tracks for Verse, Chorus, and Bridge, I recorded the whole guitar rhythm on track one, and then I overdubbed a 2nd guitar part. Then on track two, I did a keyboard, and on track # 3, background vocals. So, one shot, one pass, no loop. Here's where I am struggling. Let's say I want to overdub three-part harmonies on track #3. Is there a way I can fast-forward to where I want to add a part? every time I stop, i have to go back to the beginning and wait till it gets to that part and push the pedal. Sometimes, I want to redo but not have to start from the beginning. Please help. Thanks in advance.

    Great tutorial! I was curious re: your pedal board - and how you have the Line6 pedals raised above your looper. Is that something you built yourself, or commercially purchased? I am looking to combine the RC-300 with my GR-55 (guitar synth) and PK-5 bass pedals - and would like to stage the pedals in such a way that it will not sprawl across the floor...

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  7 лет назад +2

      Thanks! Yes, the pedal board was a DIY Project. I didn't find anything suitable. So I experimented some time in order to find the best height and angle for the board.
      Then I built it from some pieces of Wood, black paint and an aluminium profile to prevent the Helix from falling off the board.
      On the long sides I left some space between the board an the floor in order to run the cables beneath the board.

    Wonderful video and explanations, thank you. I would like to get an RC300. I am wondering how to hook it up though. Do you hook up a guitar to a guitar amplifier, then line out from the amplifier to the looper, then line out from the looper to a PA system? Or can you only hook up your guitar directly to to the looper then line out from the looper to a guitar amplifier? Forgive me, I don't have much knowledge about these. I do not have a PA system and I don't know if it is something that I have to buy in order to be able to loop or not. I also don't know how to apply my amplifier's effects to the loops if i have the amplifier hooked up after the looper?

    Thanks a lot for the video! I see you have a Helix which can act as a MIDI controller. Is there a MIDI command that will switch the RC-300 to a different loop?

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe

      Do you mean to switch the program or a single track of the RC300.
      In fact I am using my handsonic as a midi controller for the RC300, the helix and the voicelive3. I select the preset (song) on my handsonic and the three other devices follow.

      I connect the 1/4" outputs of the helix to the instrument inputs of the Rc300. One cable for left and one for right. I like using the stereo efx of the helix.
      The you need to adjust outputlevel and inputlevel.

    Thank you so much for posting! I could really use your help. I own a line 6 helix floor and a boss rc-300, which I believe is the same set up you have. I can't figure out how to run the helix through the rc300. Currently, I'm using L6 link chords to go from my helix floor into two line 6 stagesource PA's. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  6 лет назад +1

      I simply run the two outputs of the helix (called 1/4" out) to the intrument imputs of the RC300. Therefore I use two cables, because I want to keep the signal from the Helix in stereo. Moving on I take both outputs of the RC300 (left/right) to the mixer an pan those channels hard left and hard right.
      I like the reverb and delay effects of the Helix and I like them in stereo.

    Hi Stefan, Love your videos. Can you show me the proper cable connections from my RC-300 to my Helix Floor. I can't seem to get them connected right. Thank you

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  5 лет назад

      Hi, that is easy, because I use a Helix Floor too! The guitar goes to "Guitar In". Then I run two cables from 1/4" Out (left and right) to the L/Mono-Inst-R Input of the RC300. Both are simple instrument cables with 1/4" mono jacks.
      I turn the Volume of the Helix all the way to the right an adjust the input of the RC300 so that it never clips.
      That basically it.
      I run the signal in stereo into the looper, because I love the reverb and delays of the Helix. And those sound great in stereo.
      Dont forget to continue instereo from the looper to the mixing console or PA or what ever comes after the looper in your setup.

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe

  • @anthonyassadourian6127
    @anthonyassadourian6127 7 лет назад

    hi great video, very helpful. I am thinking of buying the boss rc 300, I was wondering is it possible to record the whole performance through the looper and play back everything you have played as though you are recording a normal song? or does it just save the loops on the tracks and cannot play back the entire performance. Thank you!

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  7 лет назад

      Hmm. That is an interesting question. The looper doesn't have a limitation in Loop length. So you could record a complete song on one track. When finished the recording you would press stop.
      Then you can save the track and change it's playmode to "one shot". This makes the RC300 Play it only once and stop automatically.
      To my onpinion you should be able to record a hole song on three tracks containig for example different Instruments. I never tried, but I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work.
      It's not what you normally do with a loopstation, but why not?
      I used my RC3 in a similar way, when I wanted to improve my soloing. I loaded a comlete playback track to the looper via USB and just used it as a Playback device.

      There is a setting that defines, if the effect will be applied on the inupt or on the track. Input means that you record the sound with the effect to the track. Track means that you record the sound without the effect. The effect is applied when the track is played.
      Please see p28. There is a parameter FX:target.
      This should solve your problem

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe

      Hmmm. Yes you can overdub later. Should be no problem. The track just needs to be in play mode. So if it's stopped the first click on the footswitch will turn on the playback. The second one after that should bring the red LED on an overdub.

      I think, that you Problem is, that the patches 90-99 contain demo data from Boss. If you want to delete them, go into each patch press "Write" the 2 times the ">" key. Then it should say "Initialize" in the display. Press "Write" and you have a clean empty patch.

      Thanks for the reply. However, I want to use the existing data in the two tracks and record on the third track. I do not want to clear the content. Please guide me accordingly.

      Ah, ok. The prerecorded tracks determine the loop length. Maybe there is a way to work with fixed looplength in the 3rd track.
      I will cover the topic "fixed loop lengths" in my next tutorial.

    Hey Stefan I had bought the Boss RC 30 since the 500 would've been way too much as a beginner in looping and very expensive. I wonder why don't begin making videos of all the boss loopers starting with the RC 2 I stead of jumping from RC 1 to the 500?!

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  6 лет назад

      +Picco bow That is pretty simple. That's my history. I bought an RC3 years ago. At that time that was the cheapest loopstation. The RC1 came out later. When I got deeper into looping I bought an RC300 because for me that was and still is the perfect tool.
      Since I have no sponsoring or endorsing by Boss or anybody else and music is only a hobby I just showcase what I own and use.

      LoopsUnlimited - Live.Cover.Music. Ok thanks any way. You play such good music, so it shouldn't be just a hobby! Have you looped with the RC 30?

    Hi there ! Great review, I own already a rec-30, so do you recommend me to get rather the rc-300 instead ? I am an electric violin player that does also gigs with live djs, playing a mix of electro, classic, pop, rock, ambient, etc
    Also is it possible to use the rc-300 just as an effect pedal or are the effects only to be used on the loops themselves ? Thanks, Philippe

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  5 лет назад

      For me the RC300 was the right tool. I like the three channels with its dedicated pedals. You can use the RC300 as an effects only. Because you can decide where to apply the effects. For example on the imput only. But to be honest, I don't like the built in effects. To my opinion the effects do not have enough parameters to set them to my taste....

    doo you know how to connect launchpad to this loop pedal?

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  5 лет назад

      Hmmm. Does the launchpad support MIDI? In this case it should be possible to control the looper via the launchpad.

    • @darfinchen878
      @darfinchen878 5 лет назад

      @@LoopsunlimitedDe no, i dont need to control the looper from the launchpad, i mean, can i loop the beat i made from the launchpad?

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  5 лет назад

      I see! So what is the device, that creats the audio? (the syntesizer) I understand that the launchpad is just a control surface. You have to connect the ouput of the syntesizer to the looper. Then you would record whatever you play with th launchpad.
      If you connect the launchpad to a PC, you probably need to connect the output of the soundcard to the looper.

    • @darfinchen878
      @darfinchen878 5 лет назад

      @@LoopsunlimitedDe yeah but i need to edit the individual audio track, the launchpad's beat, the guitar in the looper, and the vocal, not one single looped beat and vocal and guitar. not quite understand all of this syntesizer thingy, thanks for helpinh

    I wouldn't say that it's the most powerful loop station on the market, dude, seriously. In fact, it sucks ass at some crucial points. For example, you can't use it as a MIDI clock slave with a master other than another RC-300.

    • @LoopsunlimitedDe
      @LoopsunlimitedDe  5 лет назад +3

      By the time I did the video, the only solution with more power was using Ableton Live. Like Ed Sheeran does. But that's not a "out of the box" solution. It needs too much custom work.
      And yes there are crucial point. But I didn't find any looper, that had at least the same functions and less disadvantages.
      Today, the Headrush Looperboard could be the better loopstation. Looks interesting. But I did not check it out yet.
      Perhaps having a competitor wakes the guys at Boss!!

    I enjoy your videos and you play really well, but single track looping without changes are BORING. Songs need CHANGES. Songs need Bridges, Choruses, stops and starts and other devices to make them interesting. After a couple of minutes listening to a loop over and over again becomes really uninteresting and is only good for practicing.

      @LoopsunlimitedDe  6 лет назад

      What kind of amplifier do you mean? Some sort of guitar amp or an amp for PA speakers?

    • @paulineanders6403
      @paulineanders6403 6 лет назад

      So if you have an AMP just a basically for making for example the guitar louder...I hope you know what I mean ...
      So u are connection the AMP with the Boss RC 300 and after u also put a cable in the looper and connect it with the guitar? If that makes sense is that what it’s basically is?
