Pro Tip: On the screens with the little dude that gives you items, if you stay on the ladder you can see what he shoots out. If you don't collect it, you can go back down the ladder and when you go back up, he'll shoot out another random item, either big health, big ammo, 1-up, or E tank. This also works in MM4.
I'd just like to drop in and say, I've recently found this channel and really like your content. I'm not normally into watching long video game streams but you make them legitimately entertaining and a great thing to watch while I work. I was actually going to watch this live but I'm to used to watching videos on x2-x3 speed now so I'll be watching the VOD when I get some work done later. You likely don't need anyone telling you this but you're really awesome and I hope to enjoy more of your future content~!
@@thenonexistinghero Yup I notice! I haven't jumped into any of those videos since Mario Maker stuff isn't my cup of tea but I'll likely check it out anyway when I start running out of content in this channel XD. @@ulrickai I dunno how much you'd enjoy it, but he's a good entertainer and there's quite a few amazing moments in them (as in clutch moments and epic fails). When I was still a kid and funcoland started selling Nintendo games for like 2 dollars because playstation and so on was coming out. My aunt got me all 6 nes games it was such a great memory
Ryu after you beat all the NES Megaman games you can play the amazing Megaman Fangames. There are at least 12 of them which are really good! Play Unlimited, Rock Force and Rock N Roll first
MM5 is one of my favorite Mega Man games. It might not be as hard as some of the others in the series, but it's fun, it's colorful, has some memorable music, like Darkman's Castle theme. Enjoy!
Gravity is in space. Gravity accounts for not just the shape of the planets but for their reaction to other things (e.g. the planets revolving around the sun).
I hate how awkward that game plays. Bass is my favorite MM character. I even named my 2nd cat Treble. But I *cannot* get into that game, and I’ve tried so hard lol.
I just beat it with Mega Man and Bass - and got all 100 CDs. The game is 5 times easier with Bass. It's definitely the hardest MM, due to the lack of energy cubes, and it's not even close. The game can be easier if you take the time to micro manage your equipment. I feel that takes away from the carefree play of the spirit of Megaman games, though. I would rank this somewhere after MM 2, 3, 1, X, X2, 4, 7, 5, 6, X3, MM and Bass. I beat 9 and 10 as well but don't remember them well.
I HATE THAT HE NEVER USES HIS ABILITIES. THIS GAME HAS THE MOST UNIQUE MOVE IN ALL OF MEGAMAN HISTORY, Charge Kick, AND HE NEVER EVEN SAW IT ONCE. THAT IS UNFORGIVABLE!
I love watching Ryu play games, almost any game really. But the frustration that grows by the minute when he HAS the weaknesses of the bosses and doesn't use them... 🤣
When you started talking about the music in this game and how it’s mediocre, I was like “wait until he gets to the Wily Stages. He’ll change his mind.” I was not disappointed with your reaction, haha. I actually like the soundtrack in this game because it has that crisp quality to the tracks that was present in many late-stage NES games. If you listen to the tracks on their own, they’re actually even better because there are a lot of details to the songs that get lost due to the sounds of regular gameplay. That being said though, the Wily Stage track… so freaking good. It’s absolutely the stand-out track of the game and it reminds me of the MM3 Wily Stage tracks that were also fantastic. Anyway, it’s awesome to watch someone play this game I beat so many times as a kid for the very first time all these years later. Weirdly enough, despite being alive for all of the games’ releases, this one was my first for some reason, so it was an absolute treat watching your reactions to a lot of the elements of this game. The best parts for me were the cheap things that got you (the crystals in Crystal Man stage, the pillars in the Dark Man Stage, etc.). Keep up the great work!
Hey Ryu, you mentioned wishing they had done more with slide mechanic. So sad you didn't try Charge Man's Charge Kick. It's a slide weapon that has high damage and I frames. I know you treasure buster only, but weapon mechanics started getting better here onward.
That's the one complaint I have with the buster only runs. Especially on a first time ever stream its always disappointing not to see weapons being used.
@@mutt-the-barbarian Exactly. Chat isn't telling him to use them either. Learning the bosses weakness is a good idea for later when you fight them all again. He could at least play around with them a bit. If down votes still existed, that's what this would get from me.
One of my favorite Mega Man games, hands down. FYI, I didn’t know this back in the day, but there’s a way to skip Crystal Man’s level. On the first screen, if you die at a certain spot with one of those enemies from that screen in a certain spot, for whatever reason, you resume the level at the boss gate. Speaking of skips, when you do the boss re-fights, you can also use the “plunger” in a certain position on the right wall and slide through the wall, skipping all but 1 re-fight.
the order I used to beat these guys when I was growing up: Gravity > Gyro > Crystal > Napalm > Stone > Charge > Wave > Star. To be fair though, one of the issues I find, looking back, is that the charged buster shot is almost ALWAYS more effective than the boss enemy's weaknesses.
What’s funny is no one on your life stream mentioned the 3 secret spots in stone man’s level where you shoot the different looking stones to slide in to the secret rooms. One of them contains a letter to summon beat the bird
I struggle to believe he hasn’t played this before… entertaining but some parts were just made harder. Or he lucked out with the boss order. And NO use of the super arrow.
Not sure if you’re familiar with Ryu, but this is what he looks like when he’s struggling. He’s one of the best all-around gamers I’ve ever seen. Esp when it comes to platformers. He’s just built different lol
So will it be Mega Man 6 now? Will you do the entire series of Mega Man games? Such a jump up in visual quality from 6 to 7 after it transitions to the SNES.
Spent all my Bday money on this back in the day like $70 at Sears. It was worth every penny my buds loved playing it and the graphics were way ahead of most other games at the time. I was so happy when I beat it. Wonder if I could still beat this game. Wave Man level was the best imo.
Bro using a mindset of what manipulates what is what you should think. Boss weaknesses are CRITICAL in Megaman Games. My think was, and this is a hypothesis because I don’t actually remember, Waves are made of water and a Gyro would turn a Wave into a whirlpool. Even if I don’t have the right weakness in that example you have to do experimentation.
There was a pattern in some of the Capcom 90's games, where harder bosses had easy stages, and vice versa. Did anyone else find that to be so, or was it my imagination?
lol the chat replay. 'this one has better level design than megaman 4.' like... wut? lol. i'm surprised they didn't learn from 5 when designing 4. wtf...
I remember when this game came out. I beat it in a week, given the fact that I wasn’t allowed to just play for hours when I was teen. Probably the easiest game in the series.
Not just beat, he rarely uses weapons in other megaman runs. I mean I get why he doesnt do that, he wants to try buster only, but the weapons add more flavor to the game and without them the game is kinda dull
Well for megaman 5 specifically the weapons are trash, the robot masters are easier than in other game(in my personally opinion) and the charge shot is much more powerful. For other cases its weird seeing him not use weapons more during the stage because they add flavour to the game. I guess he wants to try everything buster only but the stages are kinda dull without weapons imo
