I enjoyed these Half Life: Lore videos. Not only Half Life has such creative, disturbing and morbidly amazing lore, but also using an eerie music background and a calm yet powerful voice multiplies the effect. You have earned a subscriber.
I've also noticed an interesting thing about barnacle eating habits that might count as lore. In HL1, barnacles could only eat human prey (how they survived on Xen like this I don't know,) however, in HL2 they are able to eat animals and headcrabs (though not zombies,) and in the episodes, they are able to bite the headcrab off of a caught zombie's head. While these changes are likely just for the sake of gameplay, they could also be seen as the barnacles evolving over time; first they can only eat one specific prey, then adapt to be able to eat unpaired headcraps, then they adapt again to be able to separate paired headcrabs from their hosts.
But in Black Mesa, a Half-life 1 remake, the barnacles can eat animals, headcrabs and zombies. And bethinking it's a remake of HL 1, something like HL 1 itself, it ruins your theory.
@@cringelord8716 Basically it is. It has the same story, plot, steads, memorable events, characters and ending as HL 1 does. Black Mesa has even better correlation with HL 2 when it comes to characters and their fore-incident background events. BM is literally the same as HL 1, of course with fully new graphics and performance.
Barnacles are basically re-imagination of the ceiling tentacled monsters from _Another World_ if you remember (or played the game). At the cave chapter (code: XDDJ) you'll meet several such monsters in the caverns, except they have multiple tentacles, and it's possible to jump thru them. Xen Barnacles are a lot moar dangerous, as they have longer tongues and cannot be avoided once touched. Also, Barnacle is the *ONLY* Xen creature whose blood is red.
