I just got a check in the mail bc they didnt have the kit to repair it got my money back bc I got it in the one year warranty
I disconnected 1 tcon cable and half the screen came on, i switched it on the other side and there were yellow verticle lines was running the lenght of half the screen. So i am assuming the tcon is bad. Would this be a good assumption?

My TV only turns black when I use certain apps like Netflix or Hulu but Tubi and RUclips plays fine it also goes back out if I change the input to play cable there is sound but no picture…The screen powers on there is sound but has a hissing noise that subsides after 1 minute…Does anyone have a suggestion on what should I try replacing first???

I have a question for you. I have a 65" Onn model # 10021261. So I have a black screen with faint images with a flashlight (it says "Onn Roku TV" in the center of the screen) and has zero sound. The screen & sound all of the sudden went out while watching the TV. I have tried the troubleshooting procedures. Unplugging the power board, the screen was still black. Unplugging all combinations of the t con still had a black screen. I tried all of the other "Resets" & remote control combination button tricks. I've unplugged the cables from all of the boards and reconnected them and still only black screen. What do you think my problem is? Power board, main board, led strip, etc? Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thanks, I appreciate it! Just FYI, I've tried a "new" power board (It was listed as a new part from a TV, that the screen was cracked during shipping) and it did the same thing. I'm now thinking that the main board is most likely the problem now. I have not had time to find the part yet and try it out. I will also update if I get a new main board and it fixes the problem. I know this could help out a lot of people in the future that are having the same issue with this model TV. @thomassweatii622

So, I followed your steps. But not sure. The backlights work, but there’s a buzzing noise, and after a bit, the backlights go off. Do you think something is overheating?

*Update* I heard a high pitched noise from the power supply and then when it would stop is when the screen would flash on then off. Got a new power supply for $40. So I only spent $80 between the tv, new board, and new legs for it

What if when i disconnect one ribbon from the tcon the screen goes half black half white but if i disconnect the other nothing changes from just the back light being on
That sounds like a failed T-Con. You might be able to fix it using this video ruclips.net/video/pfrRhw7-ZII/видео.html or just replace the T-Con.
So mine started a buzzing sound a few weeks ago and now the screen is black. Is that a capacitor you think?
Same! I've discovered the black screen only occurs when I use devices connected to the HDMI ports i.e. TV cable box, PS5, etc. However, the Wii is connected with the A/V cables and the screen never went out during my previous troubleshooting. Also, Netflix works just fine with no black screen as well. With that, guessing the issue is between the main board and T-Con per this video but we shall see! Good luck everyone. Thanks, Tech Tests!
What’s wrong if the back light is for sure on but nothing but a glowing black screen already replaced main board because of power issue
It could be a few things - the picture signal going to your panel should follow the path:
input source -> main board -> T-Con -> tab PCBs (factory bonded to panel) -> panel itself
There must be a failure at one of these points or the cables connecting them.
So my sister turned the picture off on the TV but now the TV is black but we can hear sound we just can't see it and we need to figure out how to turn the picture back on

I have a black screen with sound. Ive done the flashlight test and determined that the backlights were bad so i replaced them and fixed the problem. Three months later its happening again and after testing the backlights they all seem to work but still i get a black screen with sound. Also now i have noticed that the red power light is flashing twice every 2 seconds. Any ideas what this could be?
I would think this is a separate issue if the backlights are fine this time. It's probably something wrong with the main board, but you'll need to check with a multimeter.

It’s connected to my Xbox and when I turn my Xbox on it’s just goes gray
I resolved the issue a google search specifically for Xbox told me to hold the Xbox power button down for 10 seconds then unplug the Xbox and plug it back in after waiting 10 more seconds. And it worked. This was for a Onn gaming monitor found at Walmart
