It's the Gilt market reaction towards recent Fed LARGEST interest hike and the fact that UK energy is priced in in Dollar.. if Britain magically was blessed to buy oil in Sterling then that case will very likely take off those pressures under Gilt bond pricing. And therefore help recover Sterling. Anyone in Government had no controls over market pricing dynamics. Not Sunak or Jeremy.

Found it. George Canning, whose sole term lasted 119 days from 12 April 1827 until his death on 8 August 1827. I don't think Truss will make it to a hundred days.

The Press conference, such as it was, revealed an emotionally distraught PM, who could not, but in the most strangled precision of limited words, admit to the disastrous betrayal of her own vision in the firing of her doctrinal soulmate. What is truly shocking.... removing her political views because that's something that's at least in part subjective. Example: Earning should have been more scandanavian....increase personal allowances to 20k and start whacking people on over 300k...80% type of whack. Heating...graduate the therm rate from VERY cheap for the first 1000 GBP, then ramping up until we get to a point were people who can easily pay must dig deep. Most of them are there because of the generosity of the last 30 years.
There needs to be a "this is going to be painful for the wealthy for a short period" statement. I don't think anyone would begrudge her stating the blindingly obvious and protecting the population. How she thinks growth will happen for the next 2 years is ridiculous and the reason she's in this mess. The world needs to reset and start again post inflation. Guide the ship for that period rather than dashing on the rocks by going too fast too soon.

Maybe in many ways it was best the Queen did not live to see the chaos now unfolding under new Prime Minister Liz Truss. She would have been so disappointed, dismayed and shocked that the country she served so well for 70 years seemingly fall to pieces.
But I agree she had the misfortune in her last act of serving the country was to appoint a Prime Minister who in so short a time has made all previous Prime Ministers - Johnson, May, Cameron, Brown, Blair, Major, Thatcher, Callaghan, Wilson, Heath, Douglas-Home, MacMillan, Eden, Attlee, Churchill, Chamberlain, Baldwin, McDonald, Asquith, Lloyd George, Bonar Law, Disraeli, Gladstone, Walpole and the rest - look very good, if not great in comparison.
It is not a blessing or happy time to be a UK PM in a post Brexit era. UK needs first find herself and exactly know her position and place in a very changed today's world.
