Yesterday, I saw a canal tour of Padung Krung Kasem on youtube (Bangkok Pat), and today I went there, and I saw Him (Bangkok Pat)!!! He was such a gentleman. Kind but dignified like real English Gentlemen and very elegante British accents. Immaculate face skin without any wrinkle considering his age (40), well combed hair like standard 80’ gentlemen. an absolute fit body under 10% body fat rate, I guess. And, always long pants,.. (I never saw him with shorts on his channel, and never will) Really Thank you Bangkok Pat!!!!!!
Looks awesome, Pat! Another to-do to add to my ever-expanding bucket list. Silently gliding through the canals of downtown Bangkok while exploring the markets and whatnot is a great addition to the navigation of this vibrant city.
Brought back a few memories of when I took a trip to Bobae Market some 20 years ago, and will take a trip on canal too when I return to Bangkok. Thanks Pat.
Wow, that was awesome. It inspired me to look for Bangkok's hidden canals online. I was told they covered a few up to build roads. Imagine if they better utilized the ones they have and began opening up the hidden canals, so it could become the Venice of the east again? A really great video, thanks.
Most main roads had canals alongside them including Sukhumvit, Silom, Rama 4, but they needed to widen the roads in the early 60s when car ownership took off.
Ferry good video Pat. The electric boat looks... shockingly... good and takes a great route. I bet the Soi cats of BKK are glad when the water part of Songkran is over.
Awesome video Pat, showing then and now photos of the canals is wonderful. The rich history of Bangkok is timeless as you see how far this beautiful city has come and I hope it gets better as the years passes by. Thanks again for showing us the hidden gems of Bangkok and keeping up the good work.
I'm a miserable man in my 50's, but this year I am doing songkran water fight because I haven't done it for years, and I need some post covid silly immature fun 😂
You know, it just came to me. This is easily the best channel on Thailand on RUclips. Keep up the great work. There are other popular channels, but none that try to capture the complexity and reality of living in Thailand. Perhaps you could do some videos on schools for learning Thai and the typical culture shock a "farang" will experience in Thailand and how to mitigate that. Also, would love to see a video on Chatuchak Market, if you haven't done one already. Maybe Thai cooking schools, too.
Your unique vlogging style is unmistakable Pat. I love it !! You have rekindled my enthusiasm to get out and about when I’m in BKK in May. There will be no shopping malls on my agenda. I’ll be using your vlogs as my travel guide 👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏽🦋
Really enjoyed this video and exploration of the canal route. I have been spending more time in the Chinatown area recently and the improvements to the walkway along the canal is very nice. The assortment of colorful designs for the manhole covers is a nice touch.
Thank god, no water submachine guns and noisy people in this video. They are everywhere and getting kinda annoying. Great video, so happy to see the electrics coming on. And the monitor lizard, what a great shot. The pig too....loved it......made my day, Pat....🙂
Nice 1 m8, sounds better than the agro, noisy tailboats. Songkran wasn't bad, cept even the bottoms of my sox were wet and squelchy, the restaurant owner yelled at his son to get a bucket and mop as it turned out, because, these 10 tourists were soaking the floor of his restaurant. That bridge 3:35 in looks rippa. 😲 3:58 and now for something completely different! Yeh m8, Canalism is a word. But I bet you knew that already. Some pretty nice balconyed [not a word] places along there. 2009/11/13 we stayed in 5 star places an ate in these places too, unfortunately. Although, we crossed the river on one of those flat open ferries, not sure where in Bangkok. Thanks! m8, I did enjoy that trip along the river.
A good start to my Sunday.... watching your latest vid with a cup of tea and my big black moggie sitting on my lap! I've been past parts of this canal when on a tuk-tuk. There were times i would leap off an SRT train at Phaya Thai and need to get back quick to Hua Lampong. I'd grab a tuk-tuk and the route took us past the canal near HLP station......
Awesome video, again Pat I showed parts of the video for my Thai wife is she recognise all of the places, and the moo seems to have av very good life …so far😊😊😊
Hi Pat, we saw you filming a few weeks ago; we were on the boat ,you were on path. All good and agree its a great way to spend a few chilled hours in Bangkok... BTW The 'DEVA MANOR' café is nice for a cuppa (at River end of canal).
Thanks Pat, great videos. We always say that we'll do some of your routes when we come back to Thailand, sadly we whizz through BKK too quickly on our way up North. Best wishes from all of us.
Top quality content, Pat. The City of Bangkok should be paying you and promoting your excellent channel. Can't wait to do this ride when I return to Banger$ in a few months and do a walking tour with you Pat. I fully support non-polluting transport options, but I must admit, I still do love the noisy old diesel river taxi's with the whistles and chaos, watching the Captain back them into the pier (takes a lot of skill) whilst pier hopping on the Chao Phraya ...
Bang on your wavelength, Pat. All the other vids coming out are about chucking water. It's nice to know that normality still exists amongst the mayhem.
Great and very interesting video about the newest Old Town Canal route. Will do this route for sure next time when I be back in Bangkok. Nice to see the history of Bangkok and that you show images of how it was. I like your humour the fish market quality control system with that cat is brilliant 😃
Thanks Pat! What an interesting development. The canal and boat ride appear to be very romantic, especially at night. Great place to bring a dodgy lady 💕
Great work once again Pat,I've been catching up on your channel for a while now and thoroughly enjoying it, Here in the north of England I have a small obsession walking the Trent and Mersey canal systems. I plan to visit SEA in November for 3 months and viewed Bangkok mainly as a transit hub but based on your exploration of the waterway and insightful explanation of the BTS I plan an extended stay in the capital to explore some of the waterways and points of intrest for myself. 👍
I was doing some searching on google maps this last week and was thinking that this canal would make a good boat trip. I will definitely be going over the video to work out where everything is. It's good to see Bangkok is rejuvenating its canals. I am looking forward to 👀 this for myself.
Hahaha spot on as always! Thank-you BKK Pat. Songkran videos don't interest me. Over rated. Love the history! The market to beat all markets hey! Enjoy! Yolo! 🇭🇲🇹🇭🍻🇹🇭🇭🇲B
Yet another superb vlog with BKK Pat. Loved the trip so much I have added it to my “Things to do” list for my next trip to BKK. The fact that the boat ride is free means we can jump on and off and explore some of the spots Pat did. Great 😃 🙏
Another great video Pat. Love the idea of getting around the canals on a quiet electric boat. Those ICE engines are so noisy. What pets do you have? A combo of cats and monitor lizards I wonder. lol
No cats at our condo sadly so l treat the cats outside as my pets....monitor lizards can be quite comical in their behaviour especially when they are trying to get away from people in Lumpini park!
Thanks Pat looks like a nice way to spend a day. I believe I may have walked along that canal back in December. I took a walk from khao San down through Chinatown onto Jacks bar on the river.
nice! Pat at his best. Let’s have no more of dodgy women, alcoholics, or “is Bangkok safe?”. More of this, please! The splendor of this great city set to a groovy soundtrack. I am definitely doing this route when i visit in November.
Another world-class video from one of my favorite video bloggers, about one of my favorite cities. A nice blend of information, history, discussion, music, and sights. Well done.
Due to recent surgery 3 weeks ago i was advised my surgeon to avoid any water on my face as there was risk of hemorrhaging. So hopefully next year i can finally experience Songkran.
Thanks Pat. I am definitely taking a trip on this electric boat. I am familiar with the Bobae area through travelling on the traditional boat from Ratchatewi Pier or the Pratunam one. Great historical video once again.
Yeah I'm with you Pat I never visit Thailand when it's Songkran it's not my idea of fun maybe a few hours would be ok but days and days of it, no thanks. That tourist boat looks great, I love traveling around by boat. Another great video thanks Pat so much information and history brilliant
It’s taking forever to get my US Passport renewed but hope fully I’ll get back in October.I’m going to check out the Canal Cross Roads. Thanks for the ideas.
An excellent video Pat, like you I am a canal fan as well as a train fan. But I have to confess that I'm a dog fan and not a cat fan. As they say two out of three... aint bad!
With enough free time, old Bangkok is quite fun and fascinating to walk through. Hope they could keep improving the water quality and waste management, but it's already much better than before.
Opening times for boats: (at the moment) Mon-Fri 6-9am 4-7pm Sat-Sun 9am-7pm every 20mins both directions.

Cheers Rachel, I stood there for 35 minutes waiting for those boats!!
Yesterday, I saw a canal tour of Padung Krung Kasem on youtube (Bangkok Pat), and today I went there, and I saw Him (Bangkok Pat)!!!

Really Thank you Bangkok Pat!!!!!!
Thanks and good to meet you, but you have been too generous with my age, older than 40 for sure!!
spectacular, i don't know of any other channel that gives me such interesting information about places that i wouldn't find otherwise
Thanks Frank, that's the aim of the channel!
Thanks, another great video bringing
Bangkok some good publicity!
Thanks very much for the support, appreciate it, wish the TAT did too!!!!
Good to see you back on track
Looks awesome, Pat! Another to-do to add to my ever-expanding bucket list. Silently gliding through the canals of downtown Bangkok while exploring the markets and whatnot is a great addition to the navigation of this vibrant city.
Great choice of recreational activity, glide down one way then walk back!
I love this canal videos. Next time I'm in Bangkok I'm going to spend some time travelling the city by water.
Thanks
Thank you very much Gavin 🤩
Brought back a few memories of when I took a trip to Bobae Market some 20 years ago, and will take a trip on canal too when I return to Bangkok. Thanks Pat.

@@BangkokPat Thanks. Bangkok has so much potential, good to see it changing for the better.
Ferry good video Pat. The electric boat looks... shockingly... good and takes a great route.
I bet the Soi cats of BKK are glad when the water part of Songkran is over.
Cheers Jefe, I doubt anyone would be heartless enough to give any cat a soaking, but they are fast runners!
Brilliant video Pat, it’s on my list now. Thanks 🙏
Cheers Richard 😍
Awesome video Pat, showing then and now photos of the canals is wonderful. The rich history of Bangkok is timeless as you see how far this beautiful city has come and I hope it gets better as the years passes by.
Thanks again for showing us the hidden gems of Bangkok and keeping up the good work.
Thanks mate, I have a soft spot for canals as you know!!
I'm a miserable man in my 50's, but this year I am doing songkran water fight because I haven't done it for years, and I need some post covid silly immature fun 😂
Spot on mate, I totally agree!…..the best!
pat another great video thanks so much, happy to buy you a "coffee". God job!
Yes, this is what I want to see your video Pat, knowledgeable, interesting and I enjoy the Thai architecture. Well done

Wow, thank you! Appreciate the kind words. I like to keep it real. Culture shocks is a good idea. Will work on that.....😻😻

Cheers Rusty, definitely a nice walk at night too!
Excellent Pat, really interesting 😊
Many thanks Richard!

Thanks and glad I'm not the only one getting too old for all this water assault!
Nice 1 m8, sounds better than the agro, noisy tailboats. Thanks a lot Greg, appreciate your kind support mate.
A great video of the canals, loved it and thank you very much. I live now in Nakhon Sawan.
Another great video of things I must do when I get to Bangkok along with a lot of walking. Cheers :)
A+ ! Watching your films is a form of recreation.

They just get better and better 👍
Great memories Pat, bought out tickets (215AUD 1 way) back to Thailand, See you again Feb 2024.
Great to hear that Raymond! The boat service should be all day every day by that time!
Thank you Pat,,one of the best channels about BKK, very helpfull

Thanks Pat! What an interesting development. The canal and boat ride appear to be very romantic, especially at night. Great place to bring a dodgy lady 💕
Nothing dodgy going on along that canal at night I hope....

Love the taxi boats love getting around the river with them great fun like a little adventure
Brilliant video Pat. I was one of the Khlongs a few weeks ago and got on at Pratunam Pier and loved the spin
These boats can also be enjoyed further up that canal to Minburi....
Yet another superb vlog with BKK Pat. Loved the trip so much I have added it to my “Things to do” list for my next trip to BKK.
The fact that the boat ride is free means we can jump on and off and explore some of the spots Pat did. Great 😃 🙏
Great to hear that Pablo, it's a great ride.
Great video, very thoughtful camera work. Respect man.
A must do! I visited Bangkok for first time in February. Took two canal trips via long tail boat. Look forward to this experience!
Excellent, definitely on my to-do list on my next visit
Great vid Pat .... I assume you can get on and of the boat at the various stops .
Next time I am in Bangkok I will venture there
Another great video Pat.
An amazing find Pat! Something for free in Bangkok! Looks fairly clean too! Not to many 'floaters'? Good Vlog! Well done!
Nice Content , In the past, Bangkok was nicknamed the Venice of the East.🤗😊👍❤️
Thanks Pat looks like a nice way to spend a day. I believe I may have walked along that canal back in December. I took a walk from khao San down through Chinatown onto Jacks bar on the river.
Great way to spend a few hours exploring around that canal all the way to the end then cruise back in a boat!
Like you, I'm not a big fan of Songkran... the boat trip looks like a nice way to spend an afternoon
This annual water assault has been absent for 3yrs and it's been fantastic....
Nice! Thewarat Market. I think I was there once.
Great work. For some reason, everything looked particularly clean
Oh yes it is a lot cleaner in those canals around the old town, not all of them but this is going to be a 'showcase' canal I think you could say!
Great video Pat Man. Nice work 👍🏻
Cheers Johnny, it's worth a day trip exploring!
Definitely one boat trip I will do next time I'm in Bangkok 👍🙏🙏
You'll like it a lot, believe me!
Danke!
Good stuff Pat. Cheers
Another great video. Thank you.
Great vid Pat 👍👍
nice! Pat at his best. Let’s have no more of dodgy women, alcoholics, or “is Bangkok safe?”. More of this, please! The splendor of this great city set to a groovy soundtrack. I am definitely doing this route when i visit in November.
You must be looking forward to it! Cheers.
Your passsion for Bangkok is admiral Pat. 👍👍👍👍
Cheers Bill 🤩
Fantastic journey through the old markets of Bangkok, Pat. Certainly beats getting blasted in the face with a soaker gun full of cold water.
Another world-class video from one of my favorite video bloggers, about one of my favorite cities. A nice blend of information, history, discussion, music, and sights. Well done.
Thank you Baron!
Thank you Pat, a bloody great video 👍
great and very interesting
Cheers John
Very interesting, thank you
great video! wondering if there are faster passing boats splashing the canal water onto these boats. i don't see any protection.
Thanks for the video. I am ex resident of Bangkok
Due to recent surgery 3 weeks ago i was advised my surgeon to avoid any water on my face as there was risk of hemorrhaging. So hopefully next year i can finally experience Songkran.
We're all looking forward to next year
Roll on next year Jim!
Another great video. Are you diversiying into canal tours.
Cheers Brian, canal boats are usually part of every walking tour!
Another super episode Pat. 🙏⭐️👍
Thanks, it's a great area to spend the afternoon!

Thank you for the ride, back to BKK I will take that ride. ❤❤❤
An excellent video Pat, like you I am a canal fan as well as a train fan.
But I have to confess that I'm a dog fan and not a cat fan. As they say two out of three... aint bad!
Thanks John, 2/3? I guess you haven't met the right cats yet....
Is there a comprehensive website (or other) listing of the canals and the transportation options?
- Perhaps even two or more to cover it ll?
Not that I am aware of, there are public boats on this, the San Saep canal, and you can take kayaks on the Ong Ang canal.
Another awesome video sir… a shame we fly out tomorrow and the rest of the day is dedicated to last minute shopping and eating. 😢
Cheers Jeffrey 😍
Very cool thanks Pat.
What a great vid!
🙏🙏Thankyou Pat for an informative video on something one has to do, using electric boats on canals 👍
Thanks Rachel!
With enough free time, old Bangkok is quite fun and fascinating to walk through. Hope they could keep improving the water quality and waste management, but it's already much better than before.
Great , shall go check the out soon 😊
It's always a fantastic video from you.
