This channel should have the attention and sponsorship of the Thai Tourism Authority. It’s content is high quality, very entertaining and informative, it has all it needs to promote Thailand as the wonderful country it is. Congratulations Bangkok Pat.Thank you.
Issue is the fxcking Utube Algorythim. Pat should be 100.000 plus but the bar girl theme tubers prancing a pretty girl around wins and that is fxcking sad.
Excellent content and delivery: check. Well-composed photography: check. Winking references to pop music: check. Yep, it's a Bangkok Pat vlog, people! Thanks for the time, energy and effort you put into these entries. I love that you not only uncover the out-of-the way gems that Bangkok has to offer but you also don't discriminate against the more obvious though no less engaging locations. I love the deep cuts but there's a reason we still are drawn to the classics. Nobody is too cool for a smart cocktail--or a cheap cold beer--on the Chao Praya riverside. Cheers and thank you!
Cheers Michael, you have it spot on and I appreciate the kind words. There are many places for a 7-11 beer by the rievrside, you don't need to visit any flash bars although Jim's place is cool enough!
i have been visiting Bangkok regularly since 1986, i thought i knew the city. thanks to your videos i am enriched by some important aspects of this city that is pulsating with life and culture
Again Pat's latest video did not dissapoint. And gotta admit it's one that has beem meticulouly researched, shot and edited. The accompanying music , simultaneously soothing and futuristic, is tinged with a touch of nostalgia and mechacholy. Thanks mate.
That was brilliant Pat, I have been visiting Bangkok since the seventies and have never been on that Island, next trip in October I will definitely go there. Thank you. My Thai friends and family take me to Malls and Temples and the Falangs to bars and golf courses but if I want to see anything interesting I need to slip away on my own like I suspect you do. Generally when I drag people to places that I find interesting they look at me as if I have two heads. Been on a few of those dinner cruises, bit kitschig but if you are in good company ok.
Is it my imagination, or does everything look cleaner than it did 20 years ago? Fun and educational as always, thanks Pat. Edit: Have considered doing a video on hospitals for ageing expats or medical tourism, Pat?
My first visit to Bangkok 1979. I have vivid memories of river boat tours.. morning less hot sun, a bit of cold air .. bursting with activity. floating markets. etc Addicted to river boat tours, every month or so I would book with friends for a night boat dinner trip upstream then down again to the oriental hotel area great fun. also love hotels overlooking the river with a balcony.. The water taxis are great to jump on and off, but that sun is a problem- o for me. I avoid the river area during the daytime. traffic heat + too many people. early morning and evening for me.
Thank you khun Pat. Great content, very well researched, the videography is really beautiful, and your sense humour makes it all very entertaining. Learnt a lot of things myself. Finding time on a free weekend to enjoy the Chao Phaya is pretty fun and costs little. Amazing views at 19:05
Great vid! I found some new places to explore. If you're looking for a more local dinner cruise, with local prices for locals, rather than a tourist mega buffet boat then check out Yok Yor Marina restaurant. Their boat departs at 8pm and costs you only THB200pp. They do say get on board by 7pm (the open-air top deck is great for views) so you can order the wide selection of dishes from the main kitchen on land before departure as the menu from the kitchen on board the boat is more limited. You pay for the food and drink you order.
Another excellent and informative video Pat. I happened to venture down on the BTS to Pak Nam, when I was in Bangkok back in May. After a wander around the amazing seafood market, I decided to catch the ferry across the river to the Phi Suea Samut Fort. However, to my surprise the ferry does not operate during low tide and I had to wait for 2 hours on the far side of the river for the tide to turn. Luckily, there’s an Amazon coffee shop near the pier with aircon to shelter from the humidity .
Donated a coffee last week for reasons all contained in this wonderful video; continually learning things I never knew, considered, or even imagined to do the next time I take my family to Bangkok - Cheers Sir!
I know it’s not really your thing (and more Gary’s 😂) but I did appreciate when you plugged your favorite Indian Restaurant. I would love to see an episode all about your personal favorite other restaurants. Any insight from a Bangkok vet on where to eat is gold.
another great video Pat,,,, those chain lightning images looking down the river were stunning.... some great new ideas for day trips,,, thanks again....
I loved Khao San Road back in the early 90s. I still got my fake press pass that I brought from there :D, That night when I saw you.(you probably dont remember) but we just came back from a dinner cruise and it was fantastic. It was my first time on a dinner cruise.
I remember trying to take a photo of a bloke selling fake degree certificates on KSR in 02 - the look he gave me suggested that wasn't a good idea, if I wanted to remain in one piece. Rambutri was amazing back then - such a nice calm retreat from the chaos over the road.
I can vouch that Grand Pearl cruise is worth the money for 2hr cruise with great live music and food. Our waiter was spot on too, friendly and expert service
Thank you for this classic travel advice. Not all of your viewers are digital nomads, therefore hints for newbies and ordinary travellers are a good thing as well.
It was intended for the arrival of Chinese walking groups in 2019 but covid arrived! www.samuitimes.com/out-with-the-backpackers-in-with-the-chinese-khao-san-road-makeover-continues/
I was told on my first visit to Bangkok that my enjoyment of it would be proportional to the amount of time I spent on or by the river. Good advice, I think.
For sure to take this boat is nice, but to take the boats on the klongs can also be interesting , there its possible to see little of the backside of krungthjep, for example on the way to the golden mountain. Wat arun os nice but the last two times it was only possible to go half the way up and thats a big shame, hope its better now... Stay safe Rak Thais RAk Thailand samer Stay safe Rak Thais RAk Thailand samer
Ahhh..I misssed Khao San...thats the first place I stayed when I first back pack in Bkk. The rice stall and porridge stall near 7-11 ...is my daily budget meal spot.
There are so many parts of Bangkok I've not seen yet - this should be part of what I do the next time I visit (hopefully sometime in the next 2-3 months).
Pat loving the opening one liners your cracking me up 😂😂 your right about the music Thai people do like it cranked right up !!!!! The island is so peaceful what a trek to get there . Now I wanna play Under the broad walk !!! But which version 🤯🤯🤯What a great vlog along the river 👏👏👏
Lovely Bangkok pat great information yes my grandfather was involved in the Piccadilly line and Victoria line tube in london measured with an old piece of wood and he came to london when he was13 to send money to he’s family that lovely bridge when we had great engineers in the uk and builders sad 😢 we have lost all our great skills . Lovely vlog very informative pat I love them
Great video! I’m glad to see things back on track for your channel after the ghost hunting one things seemed a bit off for your normal excellent videos. BTW There’s a dinner cruise ticket booth and spot to get on board at river city between coffee club and the main building
Bangkok Pat,I just love your videos, and your history lessons, and when me and my girlfriend go back so see her relatives in Bangkok,we will definitely go on a dinner cruise with her family, and maybe we (or mostly me) might be able to enjoy The Hustle :) :) :) Kung fu fighting is also a good piece of music.
I thought I knew Bangkok well, but your knowledge surpasses mine by miles. and the history too. Loved all the cats you managed to sneak in to this video
Informative and funny. Way to big for RUclips, Tv host is what you should be. TAT come on..... This guy can get you publisity more than silly posters here and there. Thanks Pat and if we ever meet once i will buy you more than Coffee. Still waiting for my condo across off the Mall Bang Kapi. The Origin. . Thanks again.
My mate and I know we're on the right track with our explorations when we see you feature them. I love Jack's Bar and try and take friends in when they visit from away. The boat ride right up to Nonthaburi, perhaps featuring there might be worth a go. It's interesting enough and definitely worth 15 Baht. Or maybe Pak Kret too, though the boat only goes that far in evening peaks, heading south in the morning peak.
IThanks for the wonderful video. I like to use Klong Saen Saep Canal now. Interested in more canal destinations especially near the river, River City, Holy Rosary Church, Wat Arun. Learn the 10 baht coin Wat Arun picture too.
7:20 Finally somewhere those 50 satang coins come in useful. LOL I really enjoy your tours. I am heading back to Bangkok on the 12th of July for a 2 month stay. Hope to see some of the places you have shown me.
AWESOME video Pat! The river has become my favorite part of BKK lately. I have never gone south of Saphan Taksin before, next trip I will. Thanks for another very interesting and educational post.
Pat, that's a lotta ground covered, and a lotta tops to go through. Never known it so humid - reminds me of a trip to Darwin in the 90's. I had to keep going back to the GH, shower & new top. I used to take the river taxi to Phra Athit, when I stayed in Khao San. Not sure I have much reason to return there. I'll look out for a GH in Talat Noi next time I can, only flight prices are a bit steep at mo. Hoping the government will offer some sweetners, like a savings accounts for tourists lol. I'll make an effort to visit that island, though I'm wary of getting caught out by the tide.
Just arrived back in Kuala Lumpur after a short 2 days stay. Weather was indeed horribly humid and hot. Was at LotusS On Nut, Jatujak Market and thats about it! Rented a Yaris. First time ecountered a con man asking for money at Mo Chit station near the bus stop. Don Mueang is still quiet..but by July, it should receive more passengers. I arrived and departed from here in just minutes. Immigration was just great..only 10 persons waiting at the counters. The hot season is still here so I was using a wide brimmed hat and an umbrella to walk about. Hope to meet up with you on my next trip. I will be again renting a Yaris and also going to travel the new routes on the BTS, Mrt and the Srt lines.
Went to a recommendation on your last vlog Bangkok seafood ……was one of the best meals ever everything was cooked to perfection ……and I been living here a while …….keep up the great releases Pat ;)))))

Well said. Bangkok is more than those same issues about you-know-what! Lots of places and local haunts that the tourists miss out
Plus, it has Pat’s sass
You never cease to impress me with your loCals, research and history reporting. Nicely done Sir!
As big cities go, I've always enjoyed Bangkok.
It has a messy and chaotic charm although some hate that and want ridiculous things like even pavements and proper garbage bins
Your knowledge, filming and presentation are first class Pat. Cheers mate.
Thanks Terence.

Possibly but I only got those shots by chance, I was doing a timelapse thing. Gave up on the timelapse and showed the lightning instead!
