From Wikipedia:
"I'll Be Seeing You" is a popular song from the Broadway musical
"Right This Way".
Its music was written by Sammy Fain, the lyrics by Irving Kahal.
The song was published in 1938.
The first four lines of the tune replicate the theme of the last movement of Gustav Mahler's Third Symphony.
My note:
(Mahler's Symphony No.3 In D Minor: 6. Langsam. Ruhevoll. Empfunden)
my trivia:
The main character of book "Somewhere in Time" was listening to the symphonies of Gustav Mahler when he "travelled" back in time.
The movie version however (Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves) had the music of Rachmaninoff and John Barry in it.
Enjoy!

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
-- Dr. Seuss
So profound. In the end, all we have is our memories. This is so poignant. So many times, during our 17 year marriage, I would hear this song, and knew, that one day, one of us, would be feeling such beauty, such pain, such sorrow, remembering this song, and dreaming of the days when we will meet again; this time, over the rainbow, and never be separated again, God willing.
I try to express to my husband everyday how precious he is to me. What a blessing he has been and continues to be.

Very wise words.
My daughter passed away 20 years ago. She had a fatal heart attack a day after her 35th birthday. I was devastated. For the longest time I couldn’t even speak her name without breaking down. But it was hearing others speak of her that made me smile. One coworker spoke of her giving food to a homeless man, another spoke of her bright personality, another spoke of her caring nature. I realized that I had to remember how she lived and not how she died . That was the catalyst for my healing. This song is reminder that, even though my sweet daughter is gone, who she was will always be here. So my sweet, I’ll be seeing you in all the old familiar places and hearing about you from familiar voices. I’ll continue living life but I’ll be thinking of you and missing you always.
Truly sorry for your loss❤.
What a beautiful comment.
Thank you for reminding us to remember our loved ones.. on how they lived...✨ And not how they died. 💖Yes we will be seeing them

Testy-eyed after reading your comment. So true. Made me think of the many “what ifs” in my life, ‘though not many regrets, so far. Still very thankful of what I’ve done.🙏🙏🙏
Will add your comment to my list of favorite quotations of famous, not so famous & unknown people.
Thanks, Robert Taylor!

For the last few years, I kept coming back to this song. when I listen and closed my eyes, I can see my family, my dear wife that passed away from heart attack in 2015 and my daughter that missed her mom so much, died 18 months later to be with her mother. I missed them, I really missed you both...... Someday I'll be seeing you
My heart goes out to you. Hugs.
😭
Your grief although great, is temporary. Joy cometh in the morning…. I’m sure of it
God bless you 🥰
Too cold, depressing needs warmer instruments.

I lost my wife to cancer 12 years ago. She is the love of my life I think of her everyday, I will be joining her soon.
Thank you for such lovely music. It had me in tears. I am 81 and remember my family singing this.
X Sylvia Davis
Hi Sylvia.. I will be 79 in four months. Thank God we have wonderful memories to keep up warm and grateful. God Bless.
My wife Carol and I are in our late 70's. You are so right. This music is so very special. Back when music told a story, had feeling. Miss it.
Makes me think of my mom and dad. Both fought in WW2. Married for 62 years, and 7 children. Only death was able to separate them. My mom went first. She always worried about her children even after they grew up and went there way. Her poor heart gave out after 86 tough years. My dad lived two more years and then joined her. The holidays have never been the same again, but no one can take away our memories.
Said like a true loving son ,hopefully we all get to see our dead loved ones again Daniel may they rest in Peace .
I send you LOVE ❤️ I send love to your heartache ❤️ May you find comfort in knowing that you’re not alone 🤝 You will meet your parents again & until then, they are always in your heart ❤️
wow, you are indeed so blessed with a beautiful life with wonderful parents!
This is a beautiful and heartwarming love history.
That's right sorry to hear about your loss but at least there in heaven with each other. I know what you are going through it's hard to see them go. But one day we must let them go no sorrow, no more worry, no more pain so sad to hear. I lost my Mom in 2017 I was in shock to hear what happened to her it breaks my heart everyday. I think about her all the time but that's life one day we get to see them again gone but not forgotten Amen. May God bless you and give you strength.
My younger sister just passed away less than a month ago. She and I would speak on a daily basis. Even when we would argue, we would change the topic to cats, Napoleon dynamite quotes, and other nonsense. Each time I hear this song I think of her and my soul aches. No amount of crying or yelling up to the sky will bring her back. However, this song has allowed me to bring her in my heart. This song was written to connect with our loved ones on the other side. Much love goes out to all of you who are heartbroken. May our loved ones Rest In Peace.
Miss my sister 😢too and these words remind me of our times together
Miss my daughter . Too short a time on this earth.....
I love God, don't know where he/she is sometimes, the suffering we endure, but I know this, there's a loving after-life, there's a soul that leaves the mind/brain and the body, that can still see. When I was ten, I almost drown and for a very brief time, a few minutes, I was above my body watching and hearing kids run about talking of the boy who died. I was resituated, came back but feel I was very close. As an adult I read "Life After Life", by Dr. Moody who investigated hundreds of stories like mine. I had forgot about it for a long time, at ten I didn't know how to explain what I'd seen, my NDE, near death experience. Today because of the communication on RUclips there are numerous such tales from all over the world.
My point, if we're comparatively good in this life we'll see our loved ones again, I've read a lot about these experiences, don't believe God is judgmental as Christians are taught, murderers, child molesters, deviates go to Hades...
You will see your much-loved sister again in Paradise...
When love is overflowing it comes as tears welling up from the heart.
and the love that overflows confuses them

Old folks have hearts too, and when we were very young, we had this to keep us going until the end of the war (WWII).
Bless you. I was a WWII baby but I know what this song meant to those whose loved ones were going off to war -- some were saying goodbye, not knowing it really was a forever goodbye. We lost a lot of good men and many came back wounded. When I was in medical school, we had to do a stint at the VA hospital -- a few years after that, I became a professional musician! Thank you for the beautiful piano and photos, love the way you merged them from fall to winter, etc. 65Seasons always has wonderful presentations. I used to get a LOT of requests for this song at my piano bar, LONG after the War and I still play and sing it for myself! People do still remember and it was a better life in many ways back then! So they say. THANKS to all the Vets who served their country back then.
When we are parted, I will see George again, one day. X

Beautiful
Beautiful ... Reminds me of my Late Mother, we used to watch Liberace, this was his closing song..
In the 50s there was a radio host who used to close with this song. Been wracking my brain for decades trying to remember who. First name may have been Herb.
Wow, does that sound familiar, forgot his last name..
+ndog2005 Herb Oscar Anderson? [Lightbulb]
That's him, Thank you so much..
Beautiful song. Why do we love nostalgia so much? Where would we be without beautiful music?
Such a poignant question. Its beauty resides perhaps in its utter unanswerability.
Lost because our heart would not be able to sing
Stunningly beautiful....I am a musician, and appreciate this entire arrangement.....Emotional !
Listening to a song from your past and feeling like you’ve taken a time machine back to the exact moment when that particular song had significance in your life.

She wrote her post after reading your post (Dan Piner) Isn't it amazing how we can share the same emotions that we felt years ago. We are so grateful for God's wondrous love.

One of the most beautiful love songs ever..touches the soul..❤
Indeed it is is, just breathtaking...
I love this song!
It was my parents' song, Marion. We would sing it to them when they were in the nursing home. They both died last year, exactly two months apart. They were 95 and 93, and were married 72 years. So very hard to listen to it again, but I need to, now and then. 💔 💕
save a dance for me....
A perfectly lovely instrumental version of an achingly haunting song.
"Achingly Haunting" ...so well put!! =)
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, this version is breath taking, and the beautiful montage of photos in this video sets the piece of music perfectly, just wonderful, although this beautiful piece was written before my time it will always be forever timeless, it was one of my mothers favourite pieces and still is mine too, my mother passed away two years ago and I played this beautiful song for her for the last time while she held my hand while she was dying I believe it helped her relax and pass, Mummie darling One day I 'll be seeing you and daddy too, I miss you both loads, and miss you both so very much, you both were the very best in the whole wide world could not have asked for better parents.
The soul is eternal, most definitely you'll see their smiling, loving faces again in Heaven...oh happy day...
You were blessed

O how I love you ever since I saw you,, you've delighted every part of my existence,, you're my world my life and my ALL..
This was both my mother and fathers favorite song from world war II - they met in first grade and papa went off to the war and promised to marry mama when he returned. He returned to her and married her and had 13 of us kids together "because they loved kids so much" They both went to heaven over the past several years, but there isn't a moment that goes by that I don't think about my beloved parents and all that they endured! They loved each other to the end through all the trials and unbelievable road blocks along the way!! I'll be seeing you mom and dad - someday!!! always yours
What a beautiful legacy they left behind with 13 children!!! And to think many are burdened with the thought of having ONE child!!! I say ...where there is LOVE ...

Elyon (Biblical Hebrew עליון; Masoretic ʿElyōn) is an epithet of the God of the Israelites in the Hebrew Bible. ʾĒl ʿElyōn is usually rendered in English as "God Most High", and similarly in the Septuagint as ὁ Θεός ὁ ὕψιστος ("God the highest").
You made me cry...I miss my husband very much, his laugh and jokes, his everything. 😥

My dearest brother died of heart attack last year, June 2, 2022. This is his favorite song and he can play this wonderfully on the piano.
Oh, how I miss him so much most especially when I hear any version of this song.
One year, one month, two weeks and one day since my Dad had his last breath. So unexpected. I never got to say goodbye. Gosh how I wish I could hug him and tell him I love him. Until then, I’ll be waiting to see him in the next life. I miss my Daddy 😢

When this song was released, it was during WWII. Lovers parted, guys went off to war, and when they didn't return, the forlorn lover had this song to make her cry.
This was one of my mom's favorite songs. She died 3 years ago at age 97. She loved the 40,s music.

This is a beautiful war era song. The piano version is beautiful, but the kids who never lived trough ww2 won't be thinking about the oh so sad lyrics that us old timers recall. It's one of the pleasures of reminiscing an event that affected every one greatly, ambrose
Spot on, Ambrose. How many wives and girlfriends would listen to the lyrics of this song and think of their loved ones who had gone off to WWII and wondering if they would return. Remember this song from when I was a young boy. One of the many songs from that era that knew how to truly express love.

so beautiful .... coming from the depths of one's heart and soul
I miss my wife of 65 years. We were children together I have cried ,since she has gone love you Bill
so sad kids now days will never know what it was like to be part of this wonderful era the music makes me sad but happy I was part of those times
My kids know- because I brought them up with the old music...and now they bring theirs up with it
That didn't work with me. I introduced good music at early ages and tried to interest them but NO! It was oldie stuff and I had to give up. They've taught their children to love the music from the 80s on. I just dunno!
Don't give up; I was brought up on rock, & MY SON turned ME on to classical (& country, even opera!) & even later to recognize some of the old tunes my grandpa had played, & my son played, on piano...like Mahler's symphony, eventually some talents & interests Just... come in time!
I appreciated it then, but more now that they're gone...
So much means so much more when you miss so deep. i even miss my dreams.
peace.
I can see because I choose to see, and our children of today I feel will not get to see the beauty in yesterday, today, and the glory of tomorrow. Thank God I am blessed to see more of the beauty in life.
My son saw, now he is gone.
My youngest may never see, damaged by vaccines, just aware enough to know what he is missing.
A mixed blessing.
As hope fades,
memory's pain.
This is so beautiful... in a sweet, sad, resigned kind of way. It reminds me of the people in my life who've gone away, those who haven't, those who've come back to me, and most of all, those who I believe someday will

I AM SORRY Dear Jason
I rarely can make it all the way through. It tugs at the heart and oh the tears. They don't make songs like this anymore.
The tears always come forward listening to this beautiful music. So many memories, good and some not so good.
SAME HERE
@Henry Evans this was my uncle and aunts song when he left for ww 11 action during the war. He survived, and every time I hear this song I cry for joy that he came home alive at end of war.
Absolutely! This is a gem of a song. The lyrics and music fuse like magic , awakening the universal intuition that a truly experienced love is mysteriously eternal..
Such a beautiful song. Dedicated to my Mom and Dad who passed away in 2017. I'll be seeing you... and looking at the moon.
The moon has Americans ! Look to the sun is better - with glasses ofcourse .
@@fongtony2784 You're cheating your self! I have one question for you: What is a sun without a moon?!?!?!
I am sure, Dear Celia
Made me teary-eyed. I’m an 80’s era and I appreciate this beautiful song.

I have loved this piece of music for over half a century. As sung by Vera Lynn it is a song of love and hope. This is the first time I've heard it performed as a lament. Stunningly beautiful. Crying my eyes out.
This is pure magical
Beautiful piano music is so soothing to my soul so peaceful and soothing amen 🎹🎹🎹
You are right. It is the most beautiful version.
Amen
I'll be seeing you;
In all the old, familiar places;
That this heart of mine;
embraces all day through.
In that small cafe;
The park across the way;
The children's carousel;
The chestnut tree;
The wishing well.
I'll be seeing you;
In every lovely, summer's day;
And everything that's bright and gay;
I'll always think of you that way;
I'll find you in the morning sun;
And when the night is new;
I'll be looking at the moon;
But I'll be seeing you.
thanks for lyrics
so very heartwrenchingly beautiful. thanks for this post
the most beautiful rendition of the greatest song ever written. it does not get any better in this world of ours.
Donald Laurer , probably the best best ever in my book. This instrumental version is remarkably heart-tugging!
Thank you
I lost my dad when I was 13 and he was 42 , He had cancer and knew he was going home and he made sure that my mother and his 4 kids was took care of before he left . Then I lost my mother and I think of this everyday that goes by . My mother loved Evlis music so much ! I have 3 kids that I love so much and 3 great granddaughters. That mean the world to me. my family is my life my brothers and sisters , I lost one of my sister's and I miss her so.
Darling Patti, we've all connected here, and we'll be in Heaven with your mom and dad and sister, this life is just a portion of what the eternal soul experiences. I know and deeply believe this as I had a brief near death experience and watched thru God's eyes, my lifeless body being resuscitated, what else could it have been but God's vision, watching from above, hearing kids talking of the boy who drowned. It made me a believer; anything is possible with our Heavenly Father/Jesus...heavy I know, but life is a puzzle, a mystery, God is the truth, the way and the light...keep smiling. Amen.
I also have lost my mom just two weeks ago and my dad 5 years ago. This song and video reflect clearly the emptiness that I feel. There is this void inside me that makes everything around me look oblique. So I feel you. But I love this song because it gives us hope. Faith is believing in what is unseen.

Indeed the most beautiful and the most heartwarming version. May we know whose version is it?
Harry Dantolan what a beautiful saying ,its so true william Jones
Very tender and moving. The pianist played the chords of my soul beautifully.
The most beautiful piece of music I have ever listened too!
A tribute to our greatest generation.....................
The most beautiful melody!!!
Clay White My dad who served during WWII is dying and probably will not live the week. This was his and my mom’s song. This rendition is just so touching that I’m welled up.
absolutely Clay. My mother and Father, A 28 year Marine, served this country well, with honor. they are the greatest generation, they, our parents, most of them old and many have already passed. WWII and the depression taught them Hard work and the importance of it.
..it always reminds me of classic movies
Clay White , yes they were.

The scene at 4:17 is exactly what I'm looking at right now at my picnic table near the house by my pasture. It started snowing a couple of hours ago and is beautiful right now! This beautiful old song was written in 1938, but it became a huge hit in about 1944, when soldiers were going off to war and leaving their brides behind. Such sentimental, appropriate lyrics for that time -- and now as well. It's been the poignant song for many, and in so many genres, because it has a special meaning for many people. And thank you 65Seasons, for your beautiful photos, so appropriate for this song. This song always makes me so nostalgic when I hear it and the piano rendition is gorgeous! Thank you for posting.
Happy Birthday my darling Kingsley 3-6-89/2-21-18
i'll be seeing you
For my love one
I share your pain ,dear Lillian. I lost my pete after 60 years and we were still in love. I am so looking forward to our reunion, but for now, he fills my heart with memories. How lucky we were! May you continue to be blessed by our ever loving God.
