Arena of Verona is an ancient and beautiful roman theatre, a little as Colloseum
This song was the first attempt of "ecological" song. Via Gluck (Gluck Street) is a street dedicated to German composer Christoph Willibald Gluck (Gluck casually meaning "luck" in German). The street still exists in Milan, next to the Central Station, and Celentano was born in that street. Before WWII, via Gluck was part of the suburbs and there was a lot of grass, but after WWII the street was strongly urbanized and the song talks about this contrast. At the Sanremo Festival, at the time, this song was a flop, but after the festival it was acclaimed. The song was adapted in several languages: in French (performed by French singer Françoise Hardy, title "La maison où j'ai grandi"), English (performed by English singer Verdelle Smith, title "Tar and cement"), Spanish (performed by Argentinian duo Seducidas y abandonadas, title "La casa donde yo crecí") and other languages.
it is not the Colosseum but the Arena of Verona in the city of Romeo and Juliet
This song by Adriano Celentano is an icon of Italian music. It is the story of a child, Adriano, who speaks of himself in the third person, who lived in what was once the outskirts of Milan, in via Gluck, where there were still not many houses, but the grass, which over time has been incorporated into the city. This boy from Via Gluck enjoyed playing on the lawns, where there wasn't much concrete yet, where there were quiet people who worked and lived happily. One day he was forced to go further downtown. He became an important Italian singer, but he never forgot his old home where there was grass and where he could play on the grass. One day he returned to that street where he had lived, but everything had changed. There were no longer his friends from the past, there was no more grass, but many houses and concrete. This song is ahead of its time. It is the first ecological hymn in pre-industrial Italy. We are approximately in the fifties after the war (World War II). Europe and Italy are becoming great nations and industrial economies. But the regret of pristine nature and the sincere and spontaneous relationships between people remain a huge regret for the older Adriano, who still sees Adriano as a little boy when he was happy, despite having become famous.
Adriano
Iconic. In Italy even the walls know his songs.
Everybody knows this song. I'm not Italian and know it 💖💖💖

Adriano ❤
Dischi a testa!
Adriano Celentano was one of first singers to go in URSS and sing. 1987, and was a great concert. Now, We need people as him, to make peace, with art.
Hallo 😇 angelo
To make you understand who Celentano is, know that he has sold 200 million records, the real ones!
He has also been very successful as an actor.
In Italy, he's a real icon. And in Russia too.
@@Roberto_Lombardi here in austria too but more for his movies
The Arena di Verona is almost 2000 years old!
I only discovered this song/performance a few weeks ago, i'm now obsessed with the song and Adriano! His song "Prisencolinensinainciusol" is also worth checking out, it's an absolute blast with an amazing back story! Thanks for reviewing.
It's a great biographical song: via Gluck,in the outskirts of Milan,an area that experienced a strong urbanization after the war,is the street when Celentano was born and lived as a boy with his family. From the text emerges the nostalgic regret of a lost word, that of childhood and part of adolescence, that is,until the singer had to leave the neighborhood with his family to go and live in the center. If you read the text, you can appreciate even more the music and the final risult is very touching. 😉💘
is a singer actor presenter etc has many imitators who impersonate in him
Today he's 84, still healthy. His career started on 1960. He's always been a strong environmental activist since his begin. This song (like some others) talks about this, how cement, how pollution, destroy nature, how buildings substituted countryside.
by the way... Adriano Celentano is also a successful actor, he worked on lot of great comedy movies during '60s-''80s period
Il ragazzo della via Gluck un classico…. Grande video 👍
Fun fact, Adriano Celentano is known for forgetting the lyrics of his own songs, so in a way you could say that the fact that all the people are singing his song with him is helping him 😂
Adriano celentano is the greatest Italian singer ever !!!❤️
UUUHH Celentano!
Mag, have you ever come to Italy? I am Italian, I have been to the USA and I liked it very much, but Italy is unexplainable, there is no such country in the world. It is truly beautiful: art, nature, food ... It seem stereotype, but that's the way it is. You cannot come to Italy and not fall in love with it❤️p.s. It was "arena di Verona"
In Usa this song was covered by Verdelle Smith under the title "tar & Cement". It was a good hit.
My beloved Adriano Celentano is the author of the first acknowledged rap in music history. That is "Prisencolinensinainciusol". With his famous invented, abstract and not existing "english". Year? 1972. I suggest you, if i can, to hear to that song, and consider how much he was able to anticipate times and styles. Greetings from Rome, Italy :)
Ang should definitely react to prinsencolin...'
If you can, please listen and react to his song "Un albero di trenta piani." Celentano talks about pollution in cities (and it was 1972). The song is also very interesting musically: the trombone, the choruses, etc...
Celentano is an Italian God, fantastic songs and many fantastic and funny movies,Celentano is a legend
This was a hit in Sweden. It was called "Lyckliga gatan" (the happy street) with Anna-Lena Löfgren.
Adriano Celentano the king
One of the first songs I've learned on guitar....love it!!
The concert was performed in Arena di Verona, an amphitheatre built by the romans where gladiators used to fight during the roman empire
❤ Adriano!
This was performed at the Arena di Verona which is a Roman amphitheater (the colosseum in Rome is also a Roman amphitheater). The Arena di Verona is a venue where many concerts are held. You'll have to visit it when you come to Italy.
Hi Angelo! I think the beauty of certain songs is understanding the lyrics... only the melody is not enough! We need translations!!
grande mito della musica italiana... Adrianooooo!!!
Try 'Giungla di città'. ...
I love Adriano!!!
I love this song..it makes me nostalgic..
Everybody knows this song in Italy. We learn it at elementary school😁
Adriano Celentano was for rock'n'roll in the 50's what Jovanotti was for rap in the 80's. In the following decades he became a mainstay of Italian traditional pop. Verona is the town of Romeo and Juliette and the Arena is indeed a very ancient place, it was built by the Romans.
I love your passion
This is the story of one of us
Also he was born by chance on Via Gluck
In a house out of the city
Tranquil people who worked
Là dove c′era l'erba ora c′è una città
And that home amidst the green now where is it?
This boy from Via Gluck
Amused himself playing with me
But one day he said "I'm going to the city"
And he said it while crying
I asked him "Friend, are you not happy?
You're finally going to stay in the city
There you'll find the things that you didn't have here
You'll be able to wash yourself at home without going in the yard"
My dear friend said "Here I was born
And in this house I leave my heart
Why can't you understand?
It's a blessing for you to stay
With barefeet playing in the meadows
While there in the center, I'm breathing cement
But there'll be a day I'll come back
Here again
E sentiro' l′amico treno
Che fiscia cosi′
"Wa! Wa!"
Time has passed and here I am again
Searching in vain for the house that I loved
Where are the stones, and where are the roses?
All these things to which I held dear?
There where the treets lived now there's a town
And the house, where is she? The house
Where I grew up?
I don't know where is my home?
La maison où j′ai grandi
Where is my home? Who knows where my home is?
My home
Where is my home?
Spero sia corretta 😉
Another great song of ADRIANO CELENTANO is " AZZURRO".
Il ragazzo della via Gluck, Adriano Celentano, 1966 ❤❤❤
This "guy" can sing of course but he's is also an actor and performed epic funny italian movies. He's also known as "il molleggiato" (the sprung) for his unique way of walk and dance.
Thanks for this reaction bro!
I'm busy and tired as hell these days, I always enjoy watching your videos
I grew up with Celentano's songs because he is my father's favorite singer. He is a force of nature 🔥
As Paolo Conte said : "He could sing the phone book"
The boys in the audience are Imitators of Celentano was much imitated even in Russia for his movements expressions his style of Clothing was the Italian Jerry Lewis made many successful films Funnybesides being in a great singer Here he is 82 years old and still filled the stadiums to collaborate a lot with another great voice Mina l
I LOVE this song. Adriano Celentano is a GIANT in the music industry. Ah - dree- ah- no Chell - en-tah- no. The best of the best. They are in a ruined Roman coliseum in Verona - 2000 years old.
Great find, I'd suggest to read the lyrics of this song. The place was the Verona's Arena, an amazing ancient place, a little theater, like the Colosseum, where everyone would love to sing and everybody would love to be there enjoying a concert!
He’s singing in the famous Arena of Verona city
Ok Mad, fantastico.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍺
Im a metalhead too well grew up so. Im 34 but love world music.
Glad ppl seemingly r getting to know this legend.
Idk how to feel 100$
Bc its stuff i feel my ien but also cool others keep it alive
Di Celentano ti consiglio Storia d'amore
Cheers from Italy! 🍝🇮🇹🍕💚🤍❤️
| suggest this by Celentano: Prisencolinensinainciusol, in 1972, with the great Raffaella Carrà
This was located in Verona's Arena. Verona is the city of Romeo and Juliet
This is the history
Of one of us
He too was born by chance in via gluck
In a house, outside the city
Quiet people who worked
Where there was grass there is now
A city
And that house
In the middle of the green now
Where will it be
This guy on the street gluck
He enjoyed playing with me
But one day he said
I'm going to town
And he said it while crying
I ask him friend
Are not you happy
Finally go to stay in the city
There you will find the things you haven't had here
You can wash yourself in the house without leaving
Down in the courtyard
My dear friend, he said
Here I was born
In this street
Now I leave my heart
But how can you not understand
It is fortunate for you to stay
Barefoot playing in the meadows
While there in the center I breathe the concrete
But a day will come that I will return
Still here
And I will hear the friend train
Who whistles like this
"Wa wa"
Years go by
But eight are long
But that boy has come a long way
But do not forget your first home
Now with the money he can buy it
He comes back and doesn't find the friends he had
Only houses on houses
Tar and cement
Where there was grass there is now
A city
And that house in the middle of the green now
Where will it be
Hey, hey
La La La La La La La
Well no
I don't know, I don't know why
Because they continue
To build houses
And they don't leave the grass
They don't leave the grass
They don't leave the grass
They don't leave the grass
Well no
If we go on like this, who knows
How it will be done
Who knows
Arena di Verona, Verona, Veneto!♥️♥️ I miss home!
Adriano the best
Adriano is famous also for movements of the body ....amazing
It's all about the lyrics and its meaning in the historical context we italians were living... I'm too "young" to be part of that context but it is impossible not to feel melancholy by identifying ourselves with our grandparents and their suffering. I generally don't like italian music, but this (and many others to which I can not bind due to my extreme ignorance) song... man... brokes my heart
Hi Ang, your reactions are always so cute! I like them so much! I don't write much due to lack of time, but I try to watch as many videos of your channel as possible. As Fabio has already said, this song is an anthem for the Italian people. It would be interesting, for me at least, if you tell us which songs everyone knows in the United States. A big hug
Awh thank you, maybe I’ll make a video of songs everyone knows here lol but you probably know them already! You’re a sweetie ❤️
@@MadAng66 💙
That's actually very interesting! We wanna know that !! At least I do! 🎶
Dear Mad Ang, a big hug and a big kiss by my wonderful city, Verona and his Arena :) i wait you here 🤗
Adriano celentano is THE italian LEGEND
Beautiful Arena eh! And I've never set foot inside, even if I have it a few km away ..😳 Celentano, here is fantastic!
Sarebbe bello avere sottotitoli in italiano.
Adriano Celentano is a part of the history of italian music!
He invented world music's first rap.:
Prisencolinensinainciusol
Year 1973
👌😀
Mad.
Millions of long plain films one of the best❤❤
The backstage is the famous Verona's arena.
The place where Celentano held his concert is called “Verona’s Arena” and its concept is basically reusing an almost intact Roman amphitheater located in Verona.
Mad prego ascolta " azzurro" scritta da Paolo Conte e " l'arcobaleno" scritta da Mogol e dedicata a Lucio Battisti cantate da Celentano
Such an iconic Italian artist and top song. 💪🏻👍❤️
Bruce Allmighty is iconic LOL
Haha I love it
This song makes me sad. Its what's been happening to my country for the last 30 years. Cement and construction everywhere. The concrete jungle !
Water and salt from Mina and Celentano
Oh yeah, Italia it's a really great place 😜
You have to visit It!
And yes... Verona's Arena Is like a Coliseum. It's amazing
at 9:13 he's doing imitation of Adriano Celentano
Yes! The Place Is Arena di Verona, in which Maneskin recently performed. It's like a Colosseum
You need to react to Antonella Ruggiero - Amore Lontanissimo ❤️❤️❤️
There are perhaps more people who know the lyrics of this song by heart than those who know the lyrics of the Italian national anthem
Adriano Celentano is an icon in Italy. Form generation to generation, his songs are always current. An artist who has managed to keep up with the times.
And prisencolinensinaciusol
J’aime tout dans ce concert
La classe !!!
Verona is a half-known Italian city, the scene of a story also half-known entitled Romeo and Juliet written by an equally unknown author called William Shakespeare. With these premises why should people know Verona?
I live in Verona
SING OF 1964
Thank you Ang, I'm glad you liked it! I only should have suggested you to read the lyrics first 😅 Great reaction anyway!
L'Arena di Verona è questa. Ci ha cantato Diodato per ESC 2020. ruclips.net/video/Ogyi0GPR_Ik/видео.html
Verona is the town of Romeo and Juliet;-)
I think you must watch some photos of the Arena di Verona; I can even suggest you to watch "Diodato - Fai rumore" for Eurovision song contest, in an empty Arena, during the pandemic in 2020.
Best. suggestion. EVER! 🙏👀👏
Mad💗
Adriano ❤️
They were in Verona's Arena, a "little" colosseum built by the ancient Romans. One of the most famous monument in Italy
