In French, we call this "chanter en yogourt" (imagine singing an English song with yogurt in your mouth). 😋
The French often do this in concert with English or American stars or when they listen to the radio.
They want to encourage the artists and celebrate them. Even if they don't understand a quarter of what the song says, they sing approximately the words' sound they hear. 😅
This effect is what Adriano Celentano develops here.

Claudia Mori (the girl who plays the accordion), is an actress and singer, and is Celentano's wife.
Celentano is a singer, actor and showman, very famous in Italy, and has an extraordinary voice.
The success of the song, beyond the musicality and rhythm, is also due to the fact that in reality, many of us Italians, when we sang along in English at that time (English was a language not within everyone's reach ) we invented words that could resemble English.
I think the idea behind this song was to demonstrate how the elemental sounds of English sound to someone who does not speak or understand the language.
And we do understand that very well 😄

The author's intention is to explore communication barriers: “Since I started singing, I have been very influenced by American music and everything Americans do. At one point, because I like American slang - which for a singer is much easier to sing than Italian - I thought about composing a song that would have as its sole theme the inability to communicate. I don’t think this, nor Adriano Celantano, was a hit in the UK in the 70s, was it? I loved it and bought it because they played it at my youth club but I didn’t hear it elsewhere.

I am Italian and I can confirm that Celentano does not know English. He is a well-known singer and comedian. He made another song with partially invented English, or at least not pronounced correctly, the title is Yuppy Du.
