  • "Daddy Cool" is a disco song by the German group Boney M. It was released as a single in 1976 and became one of their most popular and enduring hits. The song was written by Frank Farian, George Reyam, and Fred Jay, and it features catchy melodies and a lively disco beat.
"Daddy Cool" reached high chart positions in several countries, including the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. It also became a chart-topper in many European countries. The song's infectious chorus and danceable rhythm made it a classic of the disco era.
Boney M. was a popular disco group in the late 1970s and early 1980s, known for their catchy tunes and elaborate stage performances. "Daddy Cool" is often remembered as one of their signature songs and remains a favorite on disco playlists and retro music collections.

Frank Farian the most successful songwriter in German history wrote and sold 800 million records with Frank Esposito, Milli Vanilli, La Bouche, No Mercy and Boney M with #1 smashers like Daddy Cool, Sunny, Brow Girl in the Ring, in 1978 when the Bee Gees conquer the whole globe in summer 1978, except UK and Germany where the banger Rivers of Babylon peaks for the longest run of 16 weeks on #1 - only Luis Fonsi and Despacito, 40 years later equals this all time record in Germany.

This was a star-making performance that catapulted Daddy Cool to the top of the German charts for a massive 12 weeks, making Boney M one of the biggest acts of the late 70s. The single had been stuck outside the top 50 on the German chart, so it was not eligible for the weekly chart show. However, after another act canceled, the producers invited Boney M to perform. Daddy Cool also became a hit throughout Europe, reaching the top ten in several countries, including the UK. Boney M achieved eight number 1 hits in Germany and two massive number 1 hits in the UK.

I love Boney M. I'm sure I've suggested before that you guys check them out. Boney M is not a man - it's the name of the group and the lead singer is Female but they've changed members/singers a few times over the years and the guy who does the male vocals didn't think he looked cool enough so got another male (the one dancing in the video) to lip synch in his place. He was also responsible for Villi Manili also - the duo who caused a scandal when it was revealed that they were only lip synching and not singing their songs/using their own voices.
There are loads of great Boney M songs but faves of mine would include: Rasputin, Ma Baker & their cover of Sunny.

Hello from Germany, Rob "the singer" ,was actually not singing he was the dancer and came from the Netherlands, it was the German producers voice, Frank Farian. Years later Farian did the same with his new group "Milli Vanilli", who had several Billboard No 1 hits. Shortly after, the fraud leaked and it was a huge scandal in the music business. (The women in Boney M came from the Caribean and were professional singers ). Nevertheless, I think Farian did a pretty good job composing and producing this group, they were huge and a lot of their songs a true classics.. Try "Ma Baker" and "Rasputin"

The entire musical part/the entire melody is basically a cover/the sample from Boney M´s song "Gotta Go Home" from 1979...
The entire "Barbra Streisand" track is basically the first 16 bars/the intro from "Gotta Go Home" put on loop constantly repeating.
