that guy was brought into the band for his dancing, he didnt actually sing on any of the songs, the guy who wrote all the music is the one singing on the tracks...Farian was the true mastermind behind this band. He had picked three women and a man from a catalog of artists for the formation, and the voice on the recordings was his own. Bobby Farrell, the "lead singer" and dancer in Boney M., simply moved his lips in sync to the songs when performing on stage.

This is a German group but Boney M. was a Euro-Caribbean vocal group created by German record producer Frank Farian. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the group's official line-up was from Jamaica, one from Aruba, and one from Montserrat. You're Jamaican too if I'm not mistaken right? This at one time was one of the biggest selling groups in the world, besides ABBA and the Beatles.

We all went crazy for this band back in the 70's Jayvee. They went to No.1 with Rivers of Babylon and we sang it all day long. They had lots of good tracks and I still play the album to this song today. Sorry to burst any bubbles but his voice is not the voice you're hearing. Most people don't know that their German producer was the voice behind the singer. It spoiled it for me to find that out but I still enjoy them. P.S. You'd love their song: ' Brown Girl In The Ring."

Back in the mid 80's, I went on holiday to Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands. One of the original female vocalists owned a nightclub there, at a place called Maspolomas. It was named Boney M. It was a beautiful place, wonder if it's still there now ? .....

Boney M was the original Milli Vanilli from the same creator. That being said these performances are so damn entertaining! If you haven't already please check out Rasputin.

Well it was kind of the same concept Frank Farian was doing with Mini Vanilli.Farin was about looks of ppl cause it will sell better.I always felt sorry for all of them after finding out.

This was almost a parody of disco. My mum loved them. I preferred the real thing. Donna Summer I feel love etc. Or the Bee Gees. Baccara 'yes sir I can boogie' is similar.

My mum used to like Boney M's By The Rivers of Babylon, that was until my dad kept playing the Barron Knights version...There's a Dentist in Birmingham. After that whenever the original was played, it was always sung with the Barron Knights words instead.
But my favourite Boney M song has always been the Christmas one, Mary's Boy Child.

Major stars of Euro pop. If you went on holiday in Europe in the 70s and went to a disco . Boney was a must.
