This is my favorite cover of this song because they took it and applied a completely different style so well that it may as well be an original song as opposed to someone like Sabaton who basically just did the exact song with clean vocals. Also the spanish groove section is incredible, who knew that singing about Norse gods in spanish would sound so awesome?
Ok seriously even if you dont like Bluegrass at least recognize that these people are immensely talented musicians I mean really guys whats with all the hate
Angry teenagers with no sense of humor. The kind of people who have gamer tags in the style of "XxXAssassin_SniperXxX", "Christiankilla69", and "gUyFAwkEs420"
This version is kinda cool of what it originally was, I mean, Sabaton just added clean vocals, but this is something completely original and the instrumentals sounds... Very finnish, kinda reminds me of Ensiferum a bit? Nice cover though!
I can imagine Thor, swinging a classical guitar instead of his hammer, headbanging to this version of the song. The Spanish part feels as if Ragnarok is happening in a Mexican desert. :D IMO, tied with a Bluegrass cover of "The Trooper" as the best cover ever. :D
I can just imagine Thor and Fenrir meeting in the desert under the noon sun, each wearing ponchos and a sombrero, one hand on a revolver. "Yggdrasil ain't big enough for both of us, partner."
Okay translating the bridge to Spanish and playing flamenco over it is absolutely GENIOUS. That has to be one of the most inventive and well done twists in a cover I have ever seen, its a shame there isn't much more of this band to listen to that what's on your channel because they deserve every bit of praise and recognition we can throw at them.
It took me about 22 years of living in Appalachia and hating bluegrass (despite being surrounded by it) before I realized that it actually has a lot in common with metal. They share an emphasis on super technical playing, as well as using many of the same scales, and both have roots in European folk music. They go together better than most people thing.
What I love about this specifically is how well it works translated to bluegrass or folkish style. It almost promotes and shows everyone just how much influence folk music has on some metal.
TFW I see this randomly in a YT "mix" and check it out of curiosity, only to see that I've already liked it probably years ago. Still like it too, certainly a unique spin on the song.
From a musicians point of view, you can hear the years of practice from all of them and they all have amazing talent. From a metal heads point of view, THIS IS FUCKING AWSOME! THIS STUFF ROCKS THE CAZBAH
@TheCorpseCrusher Haha I can really appreciate this kinda music, and I must say the voice of the singer really fits the music. Good work from these guys.
this is EPIC! this is probably how the ancient vikings would have sung of their gods to the accompaniment of those instruments, I can't help but imagine, viking children sitting around a fire and their elder singing them the epic tale of thor! hails!
I just love folk music.... and I am huge fan of Amon Amarth... I must say that I haven't heard better cover yet!! I LOVE THIS VERSION!!! Keep it that way!! I'd like to see You one day in Poland.... I'd like to hear Your cover of e.g. Turisas ;P
Awesome cover! The best thing of AA is the melody of their songs, but it is very difficult to make non-metal listeners get it. But now I think I have a chance :) Thx!
I kind of like it. The thing is, if a bunch of Viking bards sang this it would probably sound more like this than like Norwegian death metal or whatever the original was sung in.
Actually, you'd likely be wrong. From actual description by an Arab visiting in 950. "Further: Never did I hear singing fouler than that of these people, it is a rumbling emanating from their throats, similar to that of a dog but even more bestial." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedeby#Lifestyle
I wonder if the people talking shit about this cover realize that Amon Amarth fucking loves it and often plays it after they go off-stage...
Most "hardcore brutal tr00 fan" metalheads that I know have never even seen their favorite bands in concert.
Shit BANGS and I'm glad AA plays it often. That Spanish part is *chef's kiss*.
We've been threatened to death for this :)
Who shit talks this cover? This is clearly the best version of this song ever recorded imho.
@@olievalenz American republicans hating on the not really "spanish" part.
This is my favorite cover of this song because they took it and applied a completely different style so well that it may as well be an original song as opposed to someone like Sabaton who basically just did the exact song with clean vocals. Oh man, this is really awesome! It's like Amon amarth played on grandpas guitars and banjos!
Nice Dethklok reference!
This band rode the Murdertrain while drinking Duncan Hills coffee.. Brutal.
Acousticals guitars are only goods for playinks grandpas musics... And theys is totally brutal!
I can't help but imagining a Longhouse in Valhalla, full of Vikings singing this in chorus, drinking beer with this band playing!
After 12 years I think a comment is due. I love this cover and I have been listning to it more times then I remember. An awesome job guys and gals!
Metal + Bluegrass = best Marriage ever
Yesssss
Try the band Panopticon
Sooo awesome :-)
I mostly liked it. That middle part lost me for a minute. If I had a son I would play this for him
check out The Goddamn Gallows. Bluegrass mixed with crust punk.

+36c Studios I completely agree with you, I am a total metal head, but I also like bluegrass, they both have very similar speeds
DUDE the intro gets me every time. I can't XD
I roll back round to this sound every couple of years. It's so good.
This version is kinda cool of what it originally was, I mean, Sabaton just added clean vocals, but this is something completely original and the instrumentals sounds... Very finnish, kinda reminds me of Ensiferum a bit? Nice cover though!
Jakob Hallberg i love sabaton cover tbh
This is the best cover of this song I have ever heard. This band rocks

Ramtin Yazdanian I see this in a Western somewheres.
I can just imagine Thor and Fenrir meeting in the desert under the noon sun, each wearing ponchos and a sombrero, one hand on a revolver.
"Yggdrasil ain't big enough for both of us, partner."
Or raiding into Area 51
The Spanish section was utterly brilliant.
This is hilarious and awesome in every single way.

Pretty damn perfect, I couldn't have asked for a better bluegrass take
The ones who hate this are those 12 year old wannabe metalheads who are like, "This is not brootal enough!"
+Salil B Because this isn't brutal. I think this is interesting type of music, but I prefer AA version ^^
br00tal
Salil B I'm a Melinial and I like this a lot!
It's too epic for square heads like those boys u are talking about
@@wiking793 Yeah I think Asking Alexandria did it better than the original.

@MrHatandClogs42 Amon Amarth definitely approve of this. I've heard this song as background music after their closer at a couple of their shows.
Epic work!
I love bluegrass and I love melodic death metal. This is my favorite Amon Amarth song btw. EPIC!
You guys just made a life-long metalhead giggle like a schoolgirl. Well played, SOTB. Well played.
Absolutely epic on all counts! Anyone who disagrees doesn't matter and won't be getting presents from Thor on Christmas (obviously)
TFW I see this randomly in a YT "mix" and check it out of curiosity, only to see that I've already liked it probably years ago. Still like it too, certainly a unique spin on the song.
This cover is just epic and awesome.
This is still brilliant.
This is wonderful!
Need more of this.
From a musicians point of view, you can hear the years of practice from all of them and they all have amazing talent.
From a metal heads point of view, THIS IS FUCKING AWSOME! THIS STUFF ROCKS THE CAZBAH
This brought a smile to my face.

These guys really need an album.. I need this on vinyl!
this is EPIC! this is probably how the ancient vikings would have sung of their gods to the accompaniment of those instruments, I can't help but imagine, viking children sitting around a fire and their elder singing them the epic tale of thor! hails!

This might be one of the most amazing things, ever.
Awesome cover! The best thing of AA is the melody of their songs, but it is very difficult to make non-metal listeners get it. But now I think I have a chance :) Thx!
Such nice tunes, really cool :-) Hoping you guys can make more such covers!
When you're metal af but also country af
You listen to my local band, Raubtier
When you step on the property of a southern pagan and you hear the sound of a shotgun
Being a huge fan of Folk and Metal you can imagine my thoughts on this fusion.
This is just amazing
"El crepusculo del dios del trueno" I almost fell out of my chair laughing...great job.
This made me smile - Thank you for the great cover :)
Amon Amarth had this playing on the PA as exit music when I saw them play.
sooooo good
THIS IS GLORIOUS!
this is sounds amazing
Soooooooo awesome wow!
very good job
They played this at the Amon Amarth concert as everyone was leaving over the speakers. I lol'd.
@Slyfox556 It was English spoken with a Spanish accent, she said the chorus from the song.
Omf this is perfection! I love it!!
This proves how great AA's version is, that it translates so well to other genres. Cool!

@vlad, They are definitely Swedish. Check out their website.

This is actually so good
awesome to the max!
The cover band is from Sweden. It is written in their site.
Awesome.
This is really cool, I don't know what you guys are talking about, the singing sounds good.
AWESOME!
I kind of like it. The thing is, if a bunch of Viking bards sang this it would probably sound more like this than like Norwegian death metal or whatever the original was sung in.
Melodic death metal, and like most melodeath bands Amon Amarth is Swedish.
Actually, you'd likely be wrong. From actual description by an Arab visiting in 950.
