Those who want to know the meaning of this song's libretto: This is about how a Western Mongolian Khan lead his troops to fight off the Manchu-Chinese colonizers in the 17 century! He was successful and defeated a large Manchu-Chinese army (200 thousand soldiers) with his own army of 80 thousand Western Mongolian soldiers. Those who are in red Manchu hats and dress are the Manchu soldiers!

Wrong actually. The song is about Segeenii Danjila, the great general of the Dzungar Khanate and the right hand man of Galdan Boshigt Khan. He didn't die like the video shows (video is historically incorrect) he defected to the Manchus after Galdan's death due to his successor Tseveenravdan purging all Galdan loyalists.
The Manchu emperor later sent him to Dzungar to help crush Amarsanaa's rebellion, but as a last show of loyalty to his people, he didn't participate in the conflict and simply sat it out.

Big arena with 20,000 people was OK, but a tiny club with 1,000 people who were all there specifically to see The Hu was totally amazing.

You are So right!!! I tried to mention who I got turned on to da Hu by and I was grateful for that. They just took his name off and changed it to “someone“. Not fair and I pay my premium cost, two dollars sort of twenty not a whole lot but maybe we should just pay the artist instead. I wonder who gets what when I die. I paid for that play list but I don’t think it’s mine but I think it should be. 😂 I’m a bit guilty cause back in the old days I was a music pirate from Napster but I worked hard to get a decent music list, you had to listen to all the uploads to get a perfect cut to download. Then lost it all to U Tube I would have paid for my music if they asked. I also had a Bose cd payer I bought lots of music all Yanni, enigma, enya, Queen, Vangellis.

When I first listened to this version of Black Thunder, I would've agreed with you. But then I shot myself in the foot by remenising about listening to System of A Down in high school while writing a variety of comics and novels. As a resulting hearing Serj's chant at the end of the song gives me the urge to finish some of those stories and flesh out the lore of two rivaling races of elves I created in high school.
As a result I'm like:"Nah, on second thought Serj being DL's backing vocals, his spoken line and chant is enough for me."
Wouldn't had even known he was in it if they didn't put his name in the title

Serj has added his vocals but shows ultimate respect in the sense he didn't use his physical presence or fame to steal light from the message the hu portray, he's the GOAT artist ❤

I wouldn't be surprised to find Serj did that on purpose, to use his name to attract a wider audience but let the focus stay on the band. I have no evidence to back this up, but by all accounts Serj is actually a genuinely good dude, so it wouldn't shock me.

I've loved this band since the first time I heard them about 8 yrs ago. At first I couldn't understand then I had the lyrics translated. The thing I love the most is the songs have meaning. Some are of war, family, and even their mother's. But they all have a very deep meaning
First their music is heard in a Star Wars game and now they get Serj in their ranks. The HU never ceases to impress! Fantastic, creative and always improving.

Over 8 years ago on Asia's Got Talent Khusugtun introduced the rest of the world Mogolian throat singing, I was in awe with their signing skills and also saddened that my fellow countrymen laughed or were weirded out by the Khusugtun's performance.
I am a church choir singer and a member of a smaller local tribe in the Philippines, so I partly understand the difficulty and dedication placed into voicing and singing parts for a song and I appreciate how you have made something "tribal" survive into the present day.

I saw the HU live in Boise. Besides their obviously astronomical talent, they are knocking the doors down wherever they go, and I can see why. They've networked with Jacoby Shaddix (legend), made a hell of a Metallica cover, and now they're working with Serj Tankian (legend). And who the hell does all the videography and the editing? I feel like their production value is better than about 90% of what's in Hollywood or NYC these days.

I've enjoyed the Music of The Hu for a couple years now an i'd like to graciously thank the various artists who have brought the artistry of The Hu to to the English speaking Markets. it's the strength of the lyrics that are both empowering and humbling to recognize the solidarity of struggle and distance of cultures.
Serj Tankian! Grew up listening to SOAD. One of the best voices Ive heard.
I was originally torn and thought Serj should have taken a full verse. But his intros before each chorus, his unique chanting style and the small fill before the breakdown was absolutely plenty.
DL is great on this song. The strength in his voice is incredible.
The HU’s instrumentals and throat singing puts this on a whole nother level. Makes this song truly a power rock anthem.
