I found a sample pkg of 3 (Palomino, 602, & pearl) for $29.00. TWENTY-NINE US DOLLARS! Has anyone ever paid that amount for THREE(3) pencils???
Wow! That’s a lot of 💰 for 3 pencils. If you are going to buy them loose you might be better off getting them at a local art or office supply store vs. online. They have a store finder in the Blackwing website blackwing602.com/pages/dealer-locator-map
I don't know what offer you're looking at, but are you sure that the pencils are the only thing that are included in it? I know that Blackwing sells a variety pack (see link below) for thirty-five dollars that only includes four pencils, but also includes a sharpener, replacement erasers, and point guards. I wonder if the offer you are looking at is more like that; I would check the offer you are looking at more closely.

Also, to answer the question of whether anyone actually buys such expensive pencils, there are people who spend way more than that on pencils; the most expensive pencil ever sold retailed for a ridiculous 10,000 dollars (see video below, shortly after the 3-minute mark). Additionally, many people paid upwards of 40 dollars for individual Blackwings when they were out of production, and some very old vintage pencils are similarly valuable. Yes, pencil obsession is a deep rabbit hole.

Love blackwing pencil; lead is soft BUT simply hate mirado black warrior because the lead is very hard as compared to other pencils -> MUSGRAVE Test scoring pencils, FABER CASTELL ECO GRIP 2001 pencils AND TICONDERROGA #1 pencils (#1 lead is softer than #2 lead )
Almost like comparing a car made in Japan and a car made in Guatemala 👎
The standard is the 602 not the matte 👎
And just like the Black warrior none of them are originals 👎
