@@Willie-qj2wc just a psa that zoos are incredibly important to wildlife conservation and rehabilitation and aren't any different than sanctuaries - zoos and sanctuaries can both be non or for-profit and they can be private or public. there's obviously bad and unethical ones that tarnish the reputation of zoos, but as maya has mentioned in streams previously - the best way to find and support zoos that /do/ take real care of their animals are AZA accredited zoos (only 10% of all US animal exhibitors are accredited by them) :)

That unfortunately wouldn’t work well due to how a snow cone maker works. BUT, frozen bananas in a blender may be what your thinking it would turn out like.

@@pissum420 It totally works. Internet Shaquille actually shows himself and another creator doing it with frozen strawberries at 9:07 in his video titled: Hacks, Tips, and "Takes" on Food & Cooking. (I would link it, but I think it would hide my comment.) In this case, she'd likely want to put ice in with it to keep the consistency she wants. EDIT: Oh yeah, also since it's not mentioned in that video (but another video of his I think), you want to submerge the fruit in water before freezing it, too (I guess you could get cool with it and use liquid nitrogen, also).
Please don’t put anything other than ice in your machine, you will have it start growing microbes and bacteria inside where it’s hard to reach and hard to clean.
There’s a reason they don’t put the syrup into the machine, and usually add it afterwards instead.
Better idea is to blend frozen bananas and add afterwards!

Fun fact: the reason banana flavoring tastes so different to our fruit banana is because they were based on a previous banana type which has since gone extinct
Fun fact if you wanna try this with berry flavors, if you squish berries ex:strawberry,blueberry,cherry ect. and mix them with a little water and microwave them for 15-30 seconds the juices will extract a little and you get extreme flavor. I use this method for making rabbit treats and I think it would be cool for snowcone flavoring.
oh you can also cook the berries, then strain and use the juices from cooking to add to the snow cone!
The culinary term for that if you are interested is called "compote" :D

I am a keeper at a wolf sanctuary. All of our animals are also rescued from the pet trade. I so appreciate the way you speak about not showing them as pets! We have to be incredibly careful as well, even in just the language we use around them, because I get DAILY comments about "oh they're just big puppies!". When I was a keeper at WRR in San Antonio we had this same issue with the capuchins. You're doing awesome work. I'm so happy to see your amazing education.

Okokok I KNOW that they aren’t pets, but I would love to have a soul bond with a forest doggy. Not to bo confused with the stray doggy, the coyote, which is also cool.
@@SeventhGod77 At my work, our wolves have to be trained to safely receive vet care and such. That means every keeper has 4 wolves that are ours to train, and you form a special bond with them. I definitely have a soul wolf, she's my star and my light, but you'd be surprised at how much they DON'T act like dogs! If you want a soul bond with a wild animal like a wolf or a coyote, or even bobcats and cougars like my old job, I definitely recommend volunteering at a sanctuary. You will learn real quick that they are not house pets, and you will do a world of good for them. I know a volunteer at my job who has a special spot in our arctic wolf's heart. Consider volunteering!
@@SeventhGod77 Felt this! Wolves are awesome. I wish I could see one irl and maybe bond with it, and feed it some yummy treats if possible. My absolute favorite animal. tied with horses, second would be foxes, snakes, lions, hyenas and doggo's, but I count them with wolves! I see them both as less wild than wild animals, mostly because a lot are in preserves instead of in the wild since I think they're still endangered sadly. :( As well as both horses and wolves are extremely smart, wolves, if you watch any real (and make sure you fact check it) docs or RUclips videos about how wolves behave and their pack dynamics/structure, they seem smarter than some people, as well as caring and loving towards their pack families, it's pretty cool and interesting. It'd be cool if Maya visited a wolf sanc or had one of her own lol.
Schlatt was right, as always. Something silly and funny would be goat yoga with your goats, but wear an insane amount of protection because of Oatmeal.

As someone who has made a lot of banana bread, I’m here to tell you that next time you don’t need water at all, if you mash ripe bananas with a fork long enough they will turn to actual liquid with a syrup-like consistency

Maybe freeze the bananas in the water and push them through the snow cone maker to get a better result.
I thought about that too, but wondered how difficult the shaved ice machine is to clean. If it's easy, then certainly use frozen bananas and ice! She just needs to be certain the device is unplugged before putting her "fingies" or anything else in there.

I gotta admit, after rescuing a cat for the first time, I could not fucking do what you guys do. Seeing the state that he was in hurt my heart and made my stomach turn. I could not bear to see the condition those poor little dudes were in. The worst part? I'm falling for that rescue cat. Every time he rubs against me, or sits in my lap, I just melt. I couldn't do that with every single animal I rescued. You're a much stronger person than I.

Also thank you for mentioning how bad the pet trade is. Wild animals are👏not👏pets👏. If you are not a rescue stick to domesticated animals. There are some exceptions like chinchilla and other rodents that can’t be domesticated. but you need to be an experienced pet owner and do a lot of research to take good care of them. If it is an animal that hasn’t been breed to be a pet for a very long time, it is likely just stolen from the wild to be sold.
Parrots and birds as well are often bred for pets but unfortunately even half the pet stores don't really know how to look after them. The amount of "budgies cages" I've seen that are barely big enough to be a transport container is shocking.
You CAN properly care for them but damn is there not enough information out there, or people are just willingly ignorant enough to not care about the required care.
Thank you for the education about illegal trafficking of animals and for taking such good care of these animals.

Kind of wild to see a video about marmosets, these lil guys are pretty common where I live! Here we call them saguis and they can be found in pretty much any place with a reasonably sized wooded area (I live close to one that has at least a family of 7 or 8 of them), and unfortunatly there's a growing population in urban places as well.
They are adorable to see in nature, usually they get a bit curious so they will jump down a couple of branches to get a good look at you. I was always told to avoid interactions and haven't heard of anyone keeping them as pets, thank you for helping them and fighting against their trafficking!
this is why i love the internet. i can see these cuties up close in a humane way, while helping raise awareness for them too!

Thank you for talking about that link because I have absolutely seen that kind of stuff online but had no idea what to do, especially because I live in the UK and the stuff I've seen has been outside of here. In barely related ideas, I've long thought about mandatory classes for people who get pets. Like stricter laws against wild animals being kept as pets, but also that once you are registered as a pet owner you are required to go to however many classes regarding the animal you now have in your home. How to read a cat's body language, how to break up a dog fight, here are the things they can/can't eat, this is what you should look for when choosing pet food, what bedding should you use for hamsters, etc. Things that I feel like people should absolutely know before getting an animal but surprisingly a lot of people don't google it. An animal is your responsibility and if you want to have it in your house then you better be doing your gd best to make sure that animal is happy and healthy. That is your full time job now.
People owning wild animals are not doing it because they love the animal and have the ability to care for them adequately. They don't always know if they have specific requirements. They just want the animal as an accessory, an extension of themselves. They want to be "that person with the marmosets" and not want the full time job that comes with them. Monkeys are cute and I love watching them, but almost everyone on the planet is delusional if they think they could look after them, especially as one person in a home. It genuinely hurts my heart that people are so unwilling to see the intelligence and sentience of non-human animals as important or necessary to respect and look after. No animal deserves to suffer because some arrogant and stubborn human thinks they deserve a special pet.
Sorry this got a bit ranty but this pisses me off to no extent. Also I've messed up my shoulder and I've taken my strong nighttime painkillers and I think they've kicked in now. Here's a fun fact I have learnt about myself: I'm so fucking annoying that even on the strongest painkillers my doctors are willing to prescribe me, I still have good spelling and grammar because I am a language nerd who used to do proofreading. I just lose that part of my brain that tells me to not spill my entire life online when no one has asked for it. Okay night night please look after your animals and also animals that aren't yours because we are all interconnected in the web of life and it's important to remember that.

im from brazil. i love my little marmosets theyre so silly.... when they come to my school, there's like trees on the patio, so our lunchlady gives them bananas to eat. i saw baby ones and theyre absolutely adorable
theyre very common in my state. i see them hop around in wires outside my school too!! please don't keep them as pets, theyre just silly little creatures
