  • No lure fishing this time. Fishing with live locusts from the local pet store. Down the local creek / river. Free lining / stalking for big chub. Some big fish caught including a potential personal best!

Great to see so much success with such a simple setup. You caught more decent size chub in one session than I can catch in a whole season. Like ur vids, as you are not pushig fishing gear onto your viewers, but demonstrate how it's done with relatively easy methods. Keep it up!

Chris ...you are the polar opposite of the phrase "All the Gear No Idea". I love how you keep everything cheap and simple with innovative baits very few would dream of trying, yet always catch specimen fish and plenty of them. Amazing Fishing mate 👌

I've actually been out fishing for chub and ran out of bread whilst free lining bread flake on the surface. I set off home, due to running out of bread, when a large grass hopper flew into the river and a huge fish took it, literally sucked under water. So quickly grabbing another large summer grass hopper I put it on my hook and without anything else on my line set up wise, other than a size 10 hook. I caught a huge Chub. Couldn't believe how effective bait they are. Nice fishing....keep up the excellent fishing vids!!!!

As a Kid i used to fish the Thames and tributaries, my go to bait for Roach and Chub was the Damselfly used to catch them with the landing net and fish them the same as you with the same results, I really must go back to my fishing roots to have some fun, I think I still have my cane rod and old metal Mitchell 300 reel although some restoration of both will be required I'm sure, I will subscribe to your channel as you have hit my nostalgia button on the head, excellent video thank you

Lucky for you that you can fish with locusts in your country.. Here in Slovenia is restricted only on maggots or common earthworm if you want to fish with live baits and only for carp and such.. It wasn't always like that.. I remember when I was a kid we went to some small stream near house and we hunted locusts and caught a lot of fish even without rod and some trouts were huge

/// I use 3 times bigger hooks (for big bream) - and without lead and bulb- only flourocarbon leader: almost all the takings come on a fall of a bug on the water - and there is no reason to let the tackle to go down without visual control- because of problematic retrieving of fish in the branches and weeds- almost impossible to catch it...
