Rod Bent Double in This Tiny Creek / Stream!

- This session i went back out to the tiny wild trout filled stream / creek. This time armed with my new SUL rod the carabus nano hoping to put it through its paces with these fired up brown trout. I managed to get some quality fish to crush the micro jig and bend the rod double. It was great fun on a tough few hours. We'd had storms the night before, but that didn't put these fish of too badly. Thanks for watching and check out the links below to some of the gear used today.

This vidio inspired me to hit two local, tiny creeks with micro cranks this week and I had a great time! Waters I've driven over for years and never bothered to fish before. After landing a brace of 4lb chub in a short 1hr session on the first I took my son out the next day, and he is now as hooked as those fish were!
This looks way more fun than sitting in the same swim for a week waiting for the bite alarm
to let you know that an oversized goldfish has self hooked itself !
Excellent…couldn’t agree more.
Love the rod , with it being so light it makes playing the fish much more fun 👍
Great video sir I have used abu rods and reels for years never let me down very underrated still use one that's over 50 years old on special occasions and still works perfectly
I love creek fishing. I do a lot of it here in Germany. That was a great episode. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant video Chris, beautiful brownies in that small river, thanks.
Wild brown trout fight like no other fish excellent sport
I love seeing you fish water that I would disregard and walk bye or not even go to.
Beautiful set up. 🌠🧙♂️👍Big fun in tiny stream.Big Brown
In our tiny streams where should be browns and rainboxtrouts are only a Hand full cause we have so much big pikes xD
From 1 🧙♂️ to another 🧙♂️👊👊
Very cool video, i have a bunch of UL, XUL, etc Japan rods, but tried one of these abu part glass rods last year and now have all 3, just amazing rods, especially for the money. They are up there in quality with any of the Japan imports for feel with UL baits, spoons and micro cranks. Absolutely love them! they can even throw fly's just perfect for me. Worth trying with weighted fly fishing nymphs, really good fun and as light as it gets. Pin point accuracy with casting those micro gram lures with these, better than anything else I have for UL sport.
Wonderful stuff mate, you deserve a million subs. Your fishing is so different and innovative.
Great vid 👍
😂😂 the trout men will be snapping you put the pike back 😂 Well done Chris if the pike is there he's a lifeing creature going about his day hunting trout Sure it will keep the trout in top condition 👌
Some chunky perch in their to. Like you say it keeps the trout population nice and healthy having predators to clean up the sick and injured fish
Quality video that mate
People wouldn't believe what come out of small streams/river's. My local little river is the Dove in Barnsley, I fish under the bridge near Worsbrough Mill. I've had carp to over 11lb,big chub, tench, decent roach bream, eels and spun for perch and got my pb from under there spinning, it was just shy of 3lb,its only about 10ft wide in most places.
Keep your spots to yourself mate. You'll have it ruined for you in no time
@@jameslloyd8728 past tense I should have said I used to, I don't live in the area anymore plus everyone who knows the river knows it holds fish
What a spot didnt think I would find anyone who fished the dove on RUclips
This is the type of fishing I like and do quite often
I've bagged large trout Rudd grayling perch Chubb with ease
Never ever underestimate small brooks
Hi, nice to see some brownies from a small brook. Oh how I wish I could catch some like that.
If you could do a beginner how to fish rivers and streams that would be very helpful.
@@drfloxy2779 bloody nora the guys only ask for 1 vid not for him to change his perception on life
Ah, the suspense of wading in a small creek, never knowing what will grab one's lure. Add to this the good chance of startling a Tiger snake ( only in Victoria, Australia) All part of the excitement of fishing. Thanks for sharing the ultra light!
Amazing video mate
Amazing stuff, what a lovely place to fish!
Cracking trout, like that Abu set up.
Nice fish on such a light rod! And what a nice clear water you have there, that's why you have trout and we don't, what a shame,,,, nice vid mate 👍👍👍
Great to see the small brooks and streams being fished.
Love the show ,fair dos you've some cracking fish best wishes john from South East Wales 👍
Good to see you got noticed by Abu Garcia 😁👍👍👍 Some nice Trout in this vid, I never catched one, heard I can find them local to me might give it a go. Will pause all fishing until weather a bit cooler for now though. Thumbs up
Beautiful fish, awesome rod 🎣
Another first class episode, wish we had some small streams around hull!
I love watching you fish small streams and rivers takes me back to how I got into fishing in the first place thay can hold good amount of fish and size 👍
Used to fish the grand Union at Berkhamsted, in the 70,s,absolutely loved that stretch of canal.great memories. Large shoals of big Big roach.2.1b plus.this is when I think the record was 3.1b 140z.happy days.
My favourite gear was wagglers,Mitchell reals,300,410,Mitchell match, Abu 506,cardinals, all poles were fibreglass. Rods Bruce and walkers. Blue match. Used to luv my Large old wicker basket. Top anglers of the time were,Billy Lane,Ivan marks,Ian heaps.ashurst brothers. And dad,Bob Church.and the brilliant Jack Hargreaves.
Its good to see the trout take those lures ,I'm trying them on my next trip out . I'm also a Ginger Fisherman 😎

Great video dude.
This looks like so much fun!

great stuff again. (pair of secateurs come in handy)
Beautiful rod and reel, not cheap those rods 🙂
I love fishing small local streams here in Wales
Man, you are the best! Love your videos! Tight lines, bro! From Seattle :)
Nice bit of jungle warfare! Lovely fishing
MATE LOVE THE CONTENT keep at it !
Cheers fella as always great vid 👍👍👍👍👍
Great video like the rod
Another great video, be great to see some under water stuff again
Nice browny cracking little brook👍
I have a sort like 0.4 -4gr trout rod, amazing how sensive they are...the bite of a5cm sunfish on a maggot is like a perch on a normal ul rod.
I love those super ul rods a lot
Sadly we dont have trout left in our rivers
Great stuff~
that setup looks so fun :p, the noodle rod ;)
Just stated watching you on RUclips very informative thank you
Makes me really excited to try my new ultra light pen (nib) rod! Just 5mm long so good for these tighter spots
There is nothing like tempting, teasing, then hooking a wild river trout. Those larger fish are termed 'pan sized' here in Aus, although most fishermen here these days catch, photo release. 🤣
Thats my type of fishing love it
Iv recently found a small beck filled to the brim with trout. Nothing over 7" so far though. But it's the best spot iv found in years. Keep up the great content.
Great vid mate. Makes me want to get out fishing again. Even had a quick look at where to buy that rod and reel. 👍
I have done exactly that and I’m going out today to try out my new bait caster. 👍🏻
New to your channel awesome fishing, great easy going manner, instant subscribe from me,epic
Hell im Swedish and ive never Heard nor Read anything about that combo ! When Abu garcia Svängsta Closed up their Factory they started to go away i Did how ever buy a couple of their baitrunners Real neet little reels (thats not made anymore (and this was 2000 something) fun to see the countrys use that brand still . /Paul Roger Nilsson North Sweden
Another cool video
Nice rod dude
Bring some Garden pruners with you can cut some of the smaller branches out of you way and clear up swims for next time and they cut Through think branches as well
Currently sitting at a new River and actually nothing is Happening, so i enjoyed your lovely Video..
Greez from germany
Better luck next time buddy
Привет из России, зашел посмотреть обзор на спиннинг и затянуло. Очень интересные у вас условия ловли😊
Ticket 👍🏼
Hey Chris, huge thanks for this vlog. Loved every second of it. Gram for gram, nipper and I use a similar ratio ABU set up for pike on Exeter canal. He snagged a 23lber on ultra light gear, with braid.
This shows really great trout habitat, reassuring to see an absence of Himalayan Balasam.
If you find yourself in Devon, msg buddy, do a vid on my little river, I've 3/4 Mile on a salmon/sea trout river. You're welcome down anytime Budweiser
Tight lines

Great beard ! I'm also a beard man! I also have Lovely tinge of ginger in my beard !
That's practically an ice fishing outfit! Great catches from a small stream :)
Funny you done this video with that setup I was looking at that reel only yesterday for my lrfmul lure setup, cracking video as always
We used to fish tiny urban streams like this when we were teenagers, we regularly would pull 15lb carp out the most unlikely places.
LOL, I've go trout vids with 10 views and this get 74K LOLGreat creek fishing!
Loved watching this - normally fly fish on chalk streams and want to try this now. Where in the UK are you fishing?
Yeah boy👏👏
you should get to Eagley brook in Bolton, ge river runs at the back of my house and I've caught a lot of 2'lb trout, there's reports of people catching 20+ fish in a day on the river, great for a walk-up
I have these little shads there in a bag though and ive been fishing them wrong all along have green ones too
Great video Chris , buy a Machete jungle boy .🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. ALL the best from Downunder. 👍
I think i'd need one if i was fishing a stream like this Downunder. Just to fight of all the native wildlife XD
Chris , it's not that bad here . Only the Crocks and sharks want to eat you .😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
@@petercalthorpe7966 ahh ok I guess it's not so bad then....... 👀👀
@@The_ginger_fisherman would i lie to you ? 🤗🤗🤗
Im from ireland and i trout fish a lot and i use worm with a size 10 worm hook and a 2 gram split shot about 2 foot up from the hook
Lol. I can view it now. Was private before
Nice🔥🔥🔥🔝🔝🔝
Can't wait until the mega super ultra light rod comes out...I heard it's essentially just gonna be a twig 😁
Just be using half boiled spaghetti at that point
@@The_ginger_fisherman ‘right guys today we’re fishing for stickleback on looors’
Healthy looking trout, nice and fat
Loved that G 👌 great vid and some lovely browns, also answered a question no 1 has answered me, i watch loads of lure fishing for trout vids from all over the world and ive been asking for ages if our Brittish wild browns would take soft plastics like you had here but no one replied, i love ultralight fishing for wild browns but i use spinners and hard plastics i.e rapala/salmo ive got the 5ft 6 Abu Garcia Devil spin rod and i just treated myself to a Daiwa legalis LT size 1000 and its been great ive got 6lb Berkley Trilene which has been fine too, now i know Brittish browns will take soft plastics im gonna take a trip to my 1 and only tackle shop and get some jig head hooks and some soft plastics, how much was that tub of Berkley bugs?
Take it easy pal Tight lines ❤🎣✌💙👍 from Scotland 🙋♂️
forgot to ask, how do you use these lures? do you retrieve with the lures on the bottom or just like its swimming in diffirent depths of the water, thanks in advance 👍
I use a 6’6” 2 W dry fly setup for trout
A set up video would be nice how to connect mono and bright to leader what leaders and baits for what location etc ...thanks for the content
Stream-bred trout in that tiny stream, pretty cool. Is that a chalk stream, or spring-fed? I'm just wondering what keeps the water temp low enough to sustain a breeding population of trout.
You would get a monster in there that’s were Harry Potter keeps his Basilisk.👍
