If you guys wanna see a session I filmed fishing with a brand new jerkbait check out the video on the On The Hook RUclips channel! Link here ruclips.net/video/vpFBv4MrUuM/видео.html On another note I'm upgrading my audio recording gear. With my last two sessions some of the audio clips have been damaged with horrid white noise, so if some of the audio sounds odd don't worry I'm sorting it 😀
Which canal do you fish on? I live on the Ashby canal but it's so green and murky and have never landed one. Congratulations on getting 2 Doctor fish on such light gear well done
If i never just saw it i would never have believed it ...Chris that is an amazing catch. I have never ever heard of anyone targetting Tench on a jig. I would have said you were mad for even trying, but fair play to you mate. Brilliant vid
@@kemalhussein6106 maybe thats why they become so fat from eating so much fish scuds ald craws 😃😃 i think they would bulk more from that than from boilies and particles
Great video again,I have also been targeting tench on the lure this year with a lot of success.A young RUclipsr filmed me earlier this year O.B RAMPAGE (baby tench) I've had many more since great fun on micro gear.keep up your great video's
What a challenge! The fact you did this just for you makes the video even better, besides it worked. Every passionate fisherman will recognize how rare and intese these moments are. This is one of those days you'll never forget. That you caught another one is just crazy. Please do more challenges you just do for you!
I've lived in Canada for over 20 years but i still enjoy watching the finesse of UK canal angling. I used to fish for tench with sweetcorn bait on an 16/18 hook. I would never have thought of using a micro jig. You did well to land that. Thanks for sharing
Cracking video and cracking first fish what a weird yet wonderful way to catch them this is why I love watching your videos for the variety all the best for your next session
Awesome Chris, a true fisherman will definitely recognize how awesome this moment is and must have been for you. Tench is such a magnificent species. Greetings from the Netherlands.
The tungsten putty trick is genius, it's now my only weight I add to my soft lures when jig head's are too big or bold , especially like the way you can shape it ,I've even give the putty pattern and carved eyes etc into the putty .Thanks for that one mate
That tench is brilliant.. truly amazing fighters tench are. Never forget my biggest Tench in Conwy Water Gardens in 2002. Amazing fish Chris. Can hear how much it means to you 💕
Great video yet again Chris you smashed it and answer to the question at the end of the video yes would definitely like more videos like this love the ultralight and microchip stuff . ! ! !
This is such a great catch! Love catching tench normally, but on the ultra light gear, must have been awesome! If you ever come to Hampshire for fishing, I'd love to come with you. I've never fished a river before and need to learn the ways! Never caught a pike!
Good work soldier!! That’s a bangin result! Nothing better than ticking off that bucket list and you looked made up. Awesome video, yet again. Keep em coming Chris 👌
Great job! Tench is a real fighter, a very strong fish. I caught my first tench on a float rod, at first I thought it was a hook on a snag, but suddenly this hook came to life! And it was a tench weighing 1.127 kg. But the real battle was this summer in May, I was slowly catching perches on my ultra light, and then suddenly a “golden ferrari” sits on the hook and the reel friction starts to crack, the line is rapidly unwinding, I was carrying it for about 7 minutes, its weight was 2.780 kg, amazing feeling! As always great video! Thanks!
Well done Chris. You were totally made up for that first Tench and deserved to be. Just an idea but maybe you could try a fake worm on that light set up too. We all know Tench love worms so casting one out and twitching it under the nose of a Tinca might do the trick.☺
Grandads split cane rod and bakelite centre pin reel(still got em), down the bottom of the garden was the canal..... 2lb 4oz tench.... Grandad would be proud... I was 9 or so. .. See you in Lidl again.. 👍
Another great video,I’ve watched a good few but have never seen a boat on any of your trips any reason? My canal the Llangollen canal is like the M5 with a boat every few minutes (lots of times with several in view at once and usually a couple of crossovers on most of my trips) Also the water is not like the colour of a cup of tea, more like OXTAIL SOUP, my colour after watching your videos is GREEN (with envy) Keep um coming and I’ll keep watching. Tight lines, Graham.
Chris your giving away all the secrets it's one of my favourite methods fly fishing with nymphs or buzzers under a indicator. Its deadly great video as always
Amazing fish my absolute fave freshwater fish to catch brilliant fighters great video and you can tell that one took ages to get !! 😍 you earnt that capture
I'm dying to catch a tench so don't say your viewers don't like your videos pal smashed it love all your videos and have watched you for a good few years now doesn't matter the fish tight lines pal
Bravo, have only ever caught tench using more “conventional” baits and techniques, but that one was a chonky one - must have got that way by being willing to snaffle whatever came along! It’s been many years since I fished for them but remember them as good fighters that like to stay deep. Very pretty fish and far from the easiest to catch, must be why I still have vivid memories of the days when they ended up in my landing net.
I've caught loads of tench in my time. usually bread flake on a lift float. never ever would I have thought they would take a jig. crack on and well done.
Hope you guys enjoy this ?? are you kidding ?? Absolutely 💯 % top of the pile fishing Chris 🎣 Tinka Tinka one of my favourites of all time, if I could have a pound for every hour i have spent Tench fishing i would be a very rich man. Certainly an eye 👁 opener was this one, and the tungsten putty ? Well top idea mate, I was beginning to wonder just how you were casting as far as you were to start with. Patients testing getting through all those little Perch. Looks like you have a New bike as well 😀 ?? Nice one 👍 thanks Cheers Les.
Loved this man. Great content, looks like a blast. Glad I came across your channel, looking forward to watching your older videos, and seeing the new ones too! Have a nice day!
Chris - great challenge you set yourself and well done for bagging those Tench. The myriad of soft lures available, mimicking all sorts from either prey fish, crustaceans, bugs etc. etc., has opened lure fishing up to a wide variety of species away from the typical predatory ones - well done for proving that very point. It could potentially change the face of Lure fishing as more and more anglers will carry a far greater variety - and if the Pike / Perch / Zander aren't having it? - scale down with a grub and fish for what we would normally classify as a non predatory species to save the blank!
Nice one Chris well done 😄 I remember the first hybrid I caught on a tiny lure when Perch fishing - I was very surprised 😂 I've also caught big Perch on sweetcorn when I've been Bream fishing 😂
I love watching videos like this Out of the ordinary Not the given way I’m glad you made this video as not many creators choose to do things different Great video, great catch Well done 👍🎣
A German lurefirm ProfiBlinker made a full dvd on catching coarsefish on their lures, they also used the 2 smallest sizes. But they baited the fish with groundbait and fished over it and let the lure rest for 2- 3 seconds small lift and rest again. They caught bream, carp, roach and ide . This dvd was made atleast 10 years ago
Excellent video dude, I mostly fish a light set up, 2 -10 grams but this video has convinced me to go get myself an ultra light set up. Cheers and well done.
must be great having the canal that clear, great catch's by the way, canals by me are so murky with boats coming through all the time looks like you don't have that problem any ideas on how to fish them? when it's murky as hell? love all ur vids not got a barbel trotting garlic luncheon meat down yet, plenty of nice chubb with that technique though
Awesome video mate and congratulations on succeeding with your mission! Absolutely love your idea with the tungsten putty definitely could be a game changer that one mate! 😎🎣👌
I’ve just signed me and my 6yr old up to an angling club In Leicester. £40 a year for access to so much water! Can’t believe I’ve never bothered! We fished the canal yesterday, and he had 4perch all by himself!

Not only did you catch your first ever tench on a jig, you did it with your own made jig! Brilliant, Top angling as always mate.
Do some eel videos! Your canal and river must be full of them.
would subscribe but you never tell people were u fish
@@lscouser1344 why should he tell people where he fishes? For your benefit? 😅

I hear in spain they catch carp and barb on like 10cm twitchbaits
But this suprised me
@@tonnyberben1770 ...really!! I suppose when they are feeding they will take anything Carp & Barbel can hoover a lot of food
@@kemalhussein6106 maybe thats why they become so fat from eating so much fish scuds ald craws 😃😃 i think they would bulk more from that than from boilies and particles
I think most fish are predators to bugs so anything small and jiggling could work

Fantastic Chris, I would have gone straight down the pub after that for a beer, but may have spilt it as I would still be shaking.
