      👋 Paintingandchocolate, for a long time, I felt inclined to art, but now I feel that I can dedicate hours to painting, I'm starting with watercolor, I also read your description and I can relate to that too, do you have a complete list of the articles I can buy to start with the right foot into watercolor? I have done some research and got some Myartscape tracing paper I love that name too, Graphite Transfer same brand, Princeton watercolor brushes, white art tape, and Kuretake Gansai 48 colors, now are those colors worth the price? I don't know what paper to have for watercolor can you help me with that? Also for you have courses too? Thank you for your videos of pencils for watercolor, I do not know how to handle those

    I don’t know of anyone else who can use color pencils the way you do. The realism and texture is the signature of your talent. It is always an event for me to watch you paint from beginning to end. I look forward to more, pencils or paint, as long as it is you. 🙏🏼♥️🎄

    Many many thanks for your expertise and your TALENT! I bought watercolor pencils during Covid because I desperately needed a creative outlet during those dark days. But I never touched them because I was a beginner and too intimidated by the process. You have given me Hope! I’m going to open my lovely box (I bought a large one!) and dive in. I can’t thank you enough for all you do and I have subbed and look to a bright future in this new (for me) medium!❤

    I switched to watercolor pencils from acrylic because I lost mobility. Pencils are easier on my arms than gloppy paint. Your first technique with drawing on the rough pallet is a HUGE GAME CHANGER for me! So excited to try it!

    I just got a lot of Inktense! Pans and pencils 🎉 I intend to use them with my watercolor as I layer so much and lifting is so frustrating! Three layers of Inktense and there's plenty of room to finish off with watercolor 🎉 thank you so much 💕 I subbed ❤🎉

    Excellent demo and explanations -- thank you! It might be worthwhile to mention the specific paper you use with Inktense, especially the initial wet-in-wet step. I have used them on some good papers that are not 100% cotton, and they do not flow well at all. I have a hard time using them on anything but 100% cotton papers.

      Good point! It was the object of not the last video before that but the one prior, I also prefer 100% cotton papers.

    Another huge benefit of Inktense pencils is that they are permanent when the pigment is fully disolved (like Francois showed by activating them with water on her plastic pallette), and left to dry completely, so you can do the underpainting which will not lift, unlike the traditional watercolor where the next layer will be lifted if pigments used are not of the staining kind, or when the brush is not soft enough, or if you apply more brush pressure than absolutely necessary, being a beginner. I find this to be a huge advantage for us beginners :). Money saving tip: Caran d'Ache plastic pallete does not have to be used at all. You can use cheap, plastic chopping boards which have a rough surface and they work like a charm, both for inktense pencils and blocks, and for Caran d'Ache watersoluble wax pastels Neocolor II.

    Your work with watercolor pencils is absolutely beautiful! I love the Inktense color pencils best because once dry they won't reactivate which makes it easy for me to layer (but you can't lift the ink so easy).😄 Thank you so much for the great tips and techniques.

    What paper do you suggest for this technique?

    • @paintingandchocolate
      @paintingandchocolate  Год назад +2

      Smooth like hot press watercolor paper, or cold press but with a smoother tooth (some are more rough, some smoother), even thick drawing paper work well. I did a video about it (look for the cherries in my watercolor pencil playlist).

    I noticed that the inktense don't seem to bloom as readily as watercolour. That could possibly be one of the benefits.

    You’ve made me want to have another try with my Inktense and watercolour pencils. I’ve ordered the palette you use but will have to wait a week or so for delivery 😢. Quick question re Patreon. Do your subscription payment dates run from 1st of each month or from the date joined (ie every 26th of the month). If the former I’ll wait until 1st December 😊. Thank you.

    The benefit and drawback to watercolor pencils are that they add texture. For wood, etc. they are simply fabulous and can produce texture that is hard to do in watercolor paint. Besides, it is fun.

    I love all the gorgeous bright colours you used, it's a beautiful little painting. Inktense are one of my absolute favourite mediums and can be used on so many different surfaces. I have a selection of a few inktense videos in a playlist where I have used it on fabric, here's a link if any one is interested:

    While I admire the outcome, jumping from one medium to another in the hopes of mastery has not worked for me in the past. I so want to be proficient at traditional watercolour and I feel I can only do that if I stay focussed.

    • @paintingandchocolate
      @paintingandchocolate  Год назад +2

      If that is what feels best then yes you should go for it. As a pencil lover first, I do enjoy this tool that stands between pencil and watercolor but it can be different for someone else. And it''s strange how we can get stuck for a while, with watercolor or something else, and then, a level unlocks,.and so on. If you keep at it you will improve no matter what.

      Yes because I have found time and time again it is not. It depends on the paper that was used (I know the brand says it is though!)
