Roar-O-Saurus Review, Story Land Gravity Group Wood Coaster | A Finale Like Steel Vengeance

  • Roar-O-Saurus is the signature attraction at Story Land. This small-scale Gravity Group wood coaster packs a serious punch. It's the strongest of the junior Gravity Groups. This ride may stand just 40 feet tall, but it has some powerful airtime and a finale as relentless as the one on Steel Vengeance!

    I love Gravity Group's family coasters. They have really shown you can build a terrific coaster for all ages for less money and in less space. Their train cars are incredibly comfortable, and ride is smooth and thrilling. I don't understand why more parks don't use them.

      @@CanobieCoaster I suppose that one way of helping this along is to request that your favorite park put a GG coaster in the next time they want to add a coaster. It's odd to me that parks spend so much money and space on the next steel super coaster, yet a GG wooden coaster is just as much of a park perk for much less cost and for much less land. I get that they want to pull in the thrill seekers and are in a battle for reviewing stars and marketing wows, but at some point, how many super coasters must you build?

    I made the trek up to story land just for this coaster after watching your review here and I am happy to say it met my expectations :) I wasn't impressed with my first ride but after a few rides in the back car this thing is really special. That finale really is no joke!! I love how wild it is for the small height and speed.

    Iv ridden Kentucky Flier and I absolutely love these Gravity Group Family Coasters. They have so much airtime for everyone to enjoy. Not forceless but also not super intense but the perfect in between. It's crazy how a ride so small and compact can have this big of a punch. Let's also praise GG for the fact that they can do toght turns on a 6 foot radius and still keep the speed so well.
    Edit: I didn't now it was actually really strong airtime, wow thats insane.

    I actually found Roar-O-Saurus and Wooden Warrior to be close this year (though I did ride WW on a ripping hot day). The amount of airtime Gravity Group crams onto their family coasters is unreal. They seriously have more airtime than most adult coasters. Great fit for Story Land, and would love to see more of these coasters pop up.

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  2 года назад +1

      Wooden Warrior is very good too. I think that ride sustains its airtime a little more, but Roar-O-Saurus has far more power.

    This looks like an incredible coaster! The only coaster I can compare is Leviathan at Sea World Australia, which is like a larger scale version of this (without the mouth-watering finale). The funniest thing is, even though it is the size of a regular Gravity Group, they market it as a "family ride", whilst less thrilling rides such as Jet Rescue and Storm Coaster are classified as "thrill rides". As such, it tends to attract a younger demographic and lots of children. There is nothing family about these gravity groups, however. On my fourth ride, I was seated next to a dad of a younger child behind me. When the ride hit its final break run, the child was crying. His mum had to console him! I felt bad for him, but Gravity Group knows how to deceive the GP. They need to add more of these! They really are insane.

    • @CanobieCoaster

      Roar-O-Saurus is far wilder than its size suggests. It does feel like a mini Leviathan in terms of pacing.

    Roar o Saurus is awesome! I am really happy I have gotten to ride it, and I hope I can ride it again. This coaster shocked me with it's relentlessness. I thought I was a wimp or something for thinking it was surprisingly intense because I had already ridden Apollo's Chariot and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but this one felt like it had more relentless pacing than those do. I think I would love it even more now. Story Land was the park that made me love theme parks when I was little, so it is cool that even now they have a reason for me to go beyond the theming and Dr. Geyser's raft ride.

    When I rode Roar-O-Saurus, there was some kind of ACE event coincidentally going on so there were a lot of adult coaster fans in line... but I saw a lot of young kids come off of this thing smiling. Freaks in the making. My own kid won't ride it, I don't really blame her (she found the Yankee Cannonball to be too much, and if that's too much, this is much too much).
    I haven't ridden any of the other Gravity Group family coasters, and my experience is otherwise limited (all the woodies I've ridden are either in New England or defunct), but this is definitely my second favorite wooden coaster after Boulder Dash.
