The narrator of this tale is absolutely superb! His intonation is amazing, his timing incredible. The unnerving and unhinged feelings the narration causes in me is unparalleled. Hippias Minor is a Cool Dude Major! Extremely grateful for this upload. We shall all one day meet our doppelgänger!
I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate this audio, the comments after the chapters, and explanations you give at the end. I read the first six or seven chapters, and was losing track of what was going on, so this greatly helped! I loved hearing the analysis especially, as it provides insight to what Dostoevsky might have been trying to convey.
Thanks very kindly--I am glad to be of service!
@@hippiasminor6264 your audio expression is of a lovely quality, I appreciate right now as I'm facing some difficulty yet need to rest, relax and gather myself and so, thank you for giving your time & talent freely. Unemployed, older lady, just got notice I have to move. It will work out well in the long run as I expect all things work together to those who love truth & kindness. Just a bit daunting at the moment and I'm smiling. Your reading is the perfect cup of tea. Cheers from Australia 🙌🏾
YOUR A GENIUS OF A READER AND YOUR PERSPECTIVE IS SOUND BY ME. THANKS A MIL
This is, I feel, a perfect reading. You gave all characters voices so fitting and flawlessly read with perfect flow. Your analysis was also so good and has made me really interested in Dostoevsky. Thank you, I really appreciate this.
I greatly appreciate this read-aloud of The Double. I had to read this book for my Abnormal Psychology class in college. At first I tried to read it on my own and found the content too dense and wordy for me to remain focused, but after a google search for an audio version I found this video!! I appreciate the way you give each character their own unique voice and break in to add depth and clarity to what is happening along with the story. It really helped me understand Dostoevsky's style and message. Thank you for all that you do!
Excellent--very happy to be of service!
The most amazing reading I've heard of Dostoyevsky. I will play this as well as others by this reader. Thx!
My pleasure--I am glad you enjoyed!
What a wonderful and talented reader, a remarkable voice-actor! Thank you.......
Thank you very kindly! I am happy to be of service. Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for all of your readings! I intend to listen to them all
Happy to be of service! There is a surprisingly extensive library here--Dostoevsky was a very prolific author!
Thank you. I think you are keeping important literature alive. Im reading War and Peach, and Demons at the moment.
Thanks much! Demons is brilliant, if a bit of a slow burn in the first 100 pages or so. (That's also one where a well annotated edition will help.) I've never tackled War and Peace, but it's on the bucket list.
haha, yes. I have noticed that Russian novels do tend to have a bit of a slow start but i'm really loving the work. Ive been hooked since 'Crime and Punishment' which is one of my favourite novels. I think you'll appreciate War and Peace. It takes about 200 or so pages to become fully invested but you seem like a patient man. Well worth it. Thanks again for this recording.
War & Peach lol
Excellent experience! Thank you so much! Please do keep reading, you are awesome!!! And do give your comments and analysis, very inspiring.
I did not think it was that difficult to understand what was going on. It is strange that many people do get lost...
Thank you very much--I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I Agree with your opinion about the psychological landscape in this novel. The novel was well executed.
You were an excellent narrator ! The way that you made the voices in the way that you accentuated the protagonist’s voice was just spectacular! Everything was just perfect! love it!
Thanks very kindly--I am glad you enjoyed!
This was a very interesting story, thanks for making it come alive, and for sharing explanations of certain passages. 👌🏽
Thank you HM for a masterclass in reading this novel. There is a good film adaptation starring Jesse Eisenberg available.
Brilliant!!. The reading and the analysis 👍
Thank you very kindly!
thank you for this excellent reading
Another brilliant reading, thank you so much for the passion and life you are putting into these wonderful recordings. I really appreciate the commentary as well, it’s just the right amount and really helps the listener digest these classic Dostoevsky works.
Thank you:)
Great work .. 💕💕💕❤💙
I would like to thank you for your great work. You have managed to deliver a masterful reading and interpretation to those who may struggle to read the conventional way and all the while maintain our attention in your manner of delivery. I am grateful for your insights deriving from close reading and, no doubt, meticulous research on your behalf. That is why I believe you should definitely keep up the good work. Furthermore, it would be nice to get your comments of Richard Ayoade's film adaptation of 'The double'.
Thanks very kindly--I am very happy to be of service. That film adaptation is on my "to do" list!
@@hippiasminor6264 looking forward to it.
I'm not certain if it was Krishnamurti who said that, by nature, we, humans, tend to seamlessly switch from one persona to the next depending on who's the other person we are talking to. That is, that we tend to adapt a different tone and attitude if, say, we talk to a boss compared to when we converse with a spouse or the supermarket cashier or neighbor and so on and so forth. Therefore I agree with your analysis that such is the "normal mode" of any human except that our degree of adaptability enables us to polish and filter what is superficially displayed in the exterior.
I cannot say I enjoy the book (except for the fact that you are an excellent and informative reader, thank you very much, otherwise I doubt if I would finish the whole compilation) but I do appreciate the technical aspect of it - Dostoevsky's ability to delve into the deepest core of a man's heart and mind (no one does that like he did).
I usually listen to your compilation at the end of the day. I let it lull me into sleep 😂
Hi, this is a great audiobook 'style' pls do The Idiot by Dostoevsky
this was a perfect narration! that's all what I can say!
and your comments helped a lot
I'll definitely listen to your other audiobooks
Thanks very kindly--I am glad you enjoyed!
Thank you 👌
Thanks for this. I just finished reading the novel and I honestly had little understanding on what's going on (although I loved its writing).
You bet. You're not the only one with that reaction! It's a pretty confusing read the first time through it.
Quite a mysterious book, I’m not able to come up with a coherent interpretation. These are fantastic hallucinations in reality and on the other hand, do we even get trustworthy information out of our protagonist? Or is all this distorted too? Not easy to decide:
Innocence is strong in its very innocence.
Schizophrenic paranoia.
Nice reading! Nice voice acting!
15:44 (introduction skipped)
Great reading boss
Also excellent commentary
At last a sensitive voice. I'm facing difficult circumstance and found your videos
Very happy to be of service. Hang in there!
I wonder if anyone has written an interpretation, made any associations anent The The Double in regards to Einstein's spooky action at a distance, i.e., quantum entanglement. I don't think that I can benefit from any interpretation which aims to draw conclusions between the two hypotheses, on the one hand is Golyadkin hallucinating, on the other is there a supernatural element? Ambiguity is all! it's the ambiguity that makes it a great work of art. Mystery is thereby preserved.
okay, now I've caught up to you having listened to the end notes which are illuminating. thank you
Well read,no two ways about it.
