- Summer is the best time to get a tan, go to the beach, swim in the pool, and get harassed by bugs! It's hard to enjoy the sunshine and flowers when you have bugs constantly trying to sting you, suck your blood, or fly in your eyeballs!

I once thought about volunteering at the Audubon Society's Fall event, where they have people dressed as animals on a trail in the woods. Kids can go through the trail with their parents and ask the animals questions about themselves. They needed someone to do the bugs, because none of the male volunteers wanted to wear the wings (which fit like a bra)😅

I spent two weeks living open-air in rainforest Ecuador. Lemme tell ya, BUGS EVERYWHERE! Most people were freaked out at first, but by the end, we just accepted them as part of reality 😅. Even the bees flying around our breakfast didn’t bother us, after all, they pollinated the bananas on our plates!
What’s interesting is that there are WAAAAY more mosquitoes in the U.S. than there were in the literal jungle. It seems biodiversity really helps keep the blood suckers in check! Loved the vid!

We moved to the South to be near my in-laws and hahaha yeah no bugs don't die in winter here. They're bigger, too, and far more plentiful.

Those biting flies too! By my house I get so many of the biting monster horse flies and cicadas that are such bad fliers I can sit in my porch and they fly right into my face. Dogs love eating them. 😝
We don't have the problem with the cicadas doing that around here they stay in the trees and holler, but we have grasshoppers that will do that, big old locust looking grasshoppers, that'll fly right into your face damn near take an eye out, or land right on your shoulder and just look at you. The dogs and chickens love chasing and eating them.
I imagine if he were in all black with those triangular wings he'd look like a stealth fighter jet

Here in Virginia, you walk out at night and mosquitoes come after you. Once the motion sensor light turns on, the insects of the world unite in attempting to cause your demise. Even the cats join team human to destroy “the bugs”.
Yeah, I used to live in SE Virginia. Now I live in southern North Carolina. Ever heard of a palmetto bug? It's a type of roach that doesn't infest your house like those German cockroaches do, but what they lack in numbers they make up for in sheer size. They get up around 2.5" long and our first introduction to them was when one flew out of the attic and landed on my wife's face. Freaked her out so bad she peed herself a little bit. Cats won't even go after them because they're so big and nasty looking.
