- Fifth Harmony. We all know them from their huge hits like ‘Work From Home’ and ‘Worth It’. One of the biggest girl groups of the 2010’s, seemingly had it all. A supportive fanbase, fame, mainstream success. But they unexpectedly decided to call it quits and announce a hiatus. However, it is speculated that the girls all wanted to pursue solo careers. What happened that led up to their split? Let’s break down Fifth Harmony’s history today.

I deeply appreciate all the comments and feedback. I didn’t know this video was going to blow up like this. I just want to clarify I am not a harmonizer nor was I. I respect all the girls equally and I don’t want to ever show bias or disrespect in my videos toward anyone! I do realize that some of my research hasn’t been the most representative & has upset some true 5h fans. I apologize for that and I always want to listen to your respectful feedback & opinions to improve my research and content.

Only toxic for band break up, was the label and management. This was not the girls fault at all, they gave all they got to the group work. But in the end, the label company and management has ruined them.

It’s so unfortunate we see that same pattern within a lot of other artists and groups. It’s no news that the labels and management behind them can be so shady!
Camilla is smart I’ll give her that, and I stand with her on the fact that people don’t have the right to tell you how or when you can express yourself. However, the fact that she still acts like she’s innocent and above all the drama is so funny to me cause she’s the one who blindsided them.
She was not smart, she was a backstabber.
I think she her self said that she didn’t know she was out of the group, that she woke up and couldn’t access the fifth harmony twitter account anymore, and allegedly that’s how she found out

7:50 they had an amazing sisterhood especially Ally & Dinah who were ot5 until the end and they wanted to continue with the group. They were backed into a corner into disbandment. Ally confirmed in her book they realized their label wouldn’t support it. They still have their contracts, they wanted to finish it as soon as possible. So why would they disband before it was even over? They still have to go back and they probably will. (Without Camila.) You are correct about the aesthetic though they were not allowed to do anything until their final era. They signed all their contracts as minors and went through hell. Dinah has not made music in years, Dinah very much enjoyed being in a group and she never got annoyed if she didn’t get a verse she just thought okay I gotta work harder. If any of them belong in a group it’s Dinah.
At the end of the day, they were 5 individuals thrown together. None of them set out wanting to be in a group, and that was always evident and never really changed....
i think they were just straight up tired of camila bringing up taylor lmao, i would be too, it's one of those situations where your friends becomes friends with someone new, and they can't stop stalking about that person, and it's almost obsessive, yeah
Girl stfu, i love my friends, and yes i would feel betrayed if my friends makes friends with other people and kept talking about them, but were they really friends? Because if im friends with you, why would I want to be friends with someone else if our relationship was so strong. There is a lot of issues that happened behind the scenes, but you mainly ever talked about the sisterhood between the girls and only the toxic parts. As an audience, we are so quick to connect dots when we don’t even have all of the information. And there were a lot of information that you didn’t include or just weren’t aware of. First of all, Fifth Harmony’s longevity was as long as One Direction: both groups lasted for six years. There were tension, and in the beginning, their sisterhood was super strong, but the industry, like always, took advantage of them being young. Lauren was pushed to be the face. You can tell by her having a lot of solos during their X Factor. But then, they changed their sights on Camila, because I believe she was more naive than Lauren. The VMA “shade” was only seen as shade because of the audience’s misinterpretation. The girls explained it themselves the reasoning, and people be calling them out for throwing shade at Camila, when in reality, the fifth member was thrown out by herself, meaning Camila left the group by herself. And it was messy departure depicted by how the dummy was thrown. Then the four girls thrown themselves off together as a group. And their song “Down,” hate it or love it, represented their sisterhood together: “Long as you’re loving me, I’m gon keep loving you down.” And one factor why they lacked energy on stage was because they were given songs, and they had to find a meaning to that song. Compared to their last era, the four girls were able to finally get creative freedom. And their bond is stronger than before because of it. They said it multiple times, and you can sense the difference of energy in their OT5 interviews to their OT4. If they didn’t really like each other, how come all of the bad parts they’ve talked about after departure was how they were handled and not how each of the band members behaved.

Thank you for explaining a lot of the history in depth. I understand that I may not have included a lot of the deeper parts of their history, but I just wanted to highlight the toxic parts of their history from bad management to favoritism and the cause of tension within the band. There's no doubt that they have so much love for each other but just observing their dynamic it seemed like they never wanted to be there in the group.The media and audience only saw surface level of what was portrayed from the VMA's shade & departure (including myself). Also, One Direction and Fifth Harmony were together around the same amount of time, however 1D released more studio albums and 5H only released 3 throughout their entire career. I admire each of the girls individually, I am such a fan of all the girls and really look forward to their individual projects. I totally agree that the reason they lacked energy was because they weren't happy with the creative direction, which there are many moments that Lauren spoke out about that. But now that they're not stuck on a contract, they can really express themselves freely. I can tell you're a loyal 5H fan and i appreciate all the insight and knowledge!
@@Keliforniamedia Thank you for the response. I hoped my comment came off as more of constructive criticism than anything else. They’re a lot of reasons why they lacked energy onstage other than what I’ve spoken about. It’s clear that they are overworked, but they never got the chance to take a break with tour. Dinah had to watch one of her family member’s funeral virtually. Camila had a lot of panic attacks. And to just kind of compare Little Mix and Fifth Harmony, when they 5H performs, it’s mainly just them who has to keep the attention whereas Little Mix has backup dancers to help divert the attention from time to time. It was only a few instances where they had backup dancers, but most of the time, it is just the five of them on stage. And one of the reasons why they decided to split in 2018 was because their label didn’t want to put out another album. Ally spoke about them having two more albums, one maybe a Christmas album. But they eventually decided to split to explore their individuality. The girls still very much love each other, even though fans like to assume because they don’t like each other’s post or tweet on social media that they’re relationship is fake/not real. The girls have gone through so much together, the good and the bad, that it is impossible to lose the bond they have with one another that they created within those six years. Drama is basically like dessert. A lot of people crave it, even though the drama is more complex than what their mind lazily put together. Of course, I’m not denying that there weren’t no tension, but Camila having Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes, intentionally or unintentionally, hurt Lauren, Ally, Dinah, and Normani’s image. I say Shawn Mendes because he practically lied about Camila being the only one who talked to him and was his friend when he toured with Fifth Harmony and Austin Mahone. But there’s clear evidence that he got along with all of them. And Jojo toured with Fifth Harmony and she spoke about how one of the girls had a big ego, and I’m sure we know who it is. Is it really? Ally has the strongest vocals, Lauren has the soul and mysterious look and feel, Dinah is so Beyoncé coded looks wise and normani body is tea and is an incredible dancer and pretty. What about Camilla made her stand out so much

All the girls asked for was communication something Camila didn’t do. But at that time their relationship wasn’t the same anymore so Camila didn’t feel the need to tell them. They weren’t friends at that point. Only with Dinah..

Thank you! Alot of "shady" fifth harmony moments are really just then playing around like close friends would. They _were_ a _few_ moments that could be considered shady but the girls never had any ill feelings towards eachother or towards. They had genuine love for one another.

Allie was the weakest singer. She was often flat. I thought Lauren and Dinah had the most interesting voices. Naymani has a great voice. Camilla’s Betty Boop voice was always annoying to me. But she is a better networker and business opportunist

Greetings from Brazil🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷. Fifth Harmony disband remembers a little when Rouge disbanded in 2005 (A kind of Brazilian Spice Girls). During their performances on TV shows on SBT, Record and Bandeirantes (They didn't passed on the largest TV Broadcasting on country: Globo), the girls always releasing the verb, threwing it all out about the disband. Fantine (The Brazilian Mel C) and Karin (The Brazilian Mel B) are the most sincere of the group and at the time in 2005 they opened up their hearts at the Gugu's show in SBT and in Gilberto Barros' show in Bandeirantes.
Differently of Fifth Harmony, who didn't went to TV shows to give satisfaction to fans. They only made a pink note on Instagram warning about the disband.
The problem is the same. Everyone demand the same money but it impossible to contribute equally and resentment unavoidable. No-one wants to feel they carrying the group.
The problem started from the beginning ....they WANTED to be SOLO artists . Some groups handled that same situation better 👀. I wish we have shows that are actually looking for groups and or shows that want to make unknown groups popular , we had shows like that in the past specifically ON MTV until the person running the show messed the groups up 👀👀.

I think the other didn't become as successful is because the chose to go nasty with he breakup. Camilla used her pain for music and the others kept throwing shade at any time they could. Not a pretty look
the group’s main focus is on camila and when she left obviously it’s hard for em to work as a group. they’re all talented individually, but not able to show their parts in the group, only camila, the management is pushing her infront, and the others do not have that opportunities.
Camila's shade was seen as art and right to self expression. Her betrayal was seen as her right to freedom but the other girls reacting to her actions was seen as shade and jealousy. They are still known as her bullies to this day and she let this narrative run as long as it has. Once her popularity runs out, she will claim peace between her and the girls. Her mind!

I hope you know that it is not that serious that you have to spam the comments section. I am not a self proclaimed “harmonizer” but I still knew what happened during that time in the media. Most of the shady clips are pulled from actual harmonizer channels that put together compilation videos of “shady moments” as a joke. Every group has their shady moments … it doesn’t mean that they hate each other. They still have that sisterhood type of bond and it doesn’t mean that there aren’t gonna be some awkward and tense moments throughout. And I am not a harmonizer but even harmonizers don’t know the real truth unless you know them personally. I am highlighting the harsh reality of being in the music industry, and 5h aren’t the first girl group to go through the same struggles. We had PCD, G.R.L and so many other girl groups that went through similar struggles bc of the music industry. In the end of the day, this video is not to bash the girls or spread misinformation about them. I adore all of them & this channel is not trying to promote that type of content.

I don’t hold it against you because being a fan of something can make you really passionate when it comes to stuff like this. I used to be a huge fan back in 2013 when 1d, 5h, and LM (all the groups were poppin) so I feel it. I am definitely working on my craft and i really want to inform & spread the correct information, as well as do ALLL my research before constructing my next script. I definitely can see where I left out some information because I wasn’t fully aware of the context. I won’t be doing anymore 5h videos bc this isn’t a 5h channel, but I will be probably making a video about Normani soon. I appreciate your feedback. :)

I want to clarify I am not a harmonizer nor was I, and I definitely do not keep up with Camila and I in fact don’t have a bias toward any of the women in 5h. I was just reporting on what the media portrayed the breakup to look like and I apologize I didn’t represent the truth in the most accurate way, I was never a fan so I will never say I knew the full truth and I don’t believe any of us really will know. I don't know why people are getting mad as if some of these things weren't true, we can talk about how close Camila and some of the others were, but it didn't seem like it at all. Lol. I haven't even watched all of their season of x factor, so demi planting that seed of cc being the one who stood out wasn't what made me notice that something about her stood out, she wasn't initially my fav until later. regardless there are some moments in the past where they looked awkward or like there was tension, Camila going solo seemed obvious, like it seemed she was gonna leave early, I don't understand 5h saying they were blindsided when Camila said she talked about it with them maybe they were blindsided by when she left, not the fact that she was going too that was probably the miscommunication. It seemed like they just did the best they can given the circumstances they didn't plan on being a group but went with it. I'm not gonna lie only 3 of them had more "star power", them being broken up it's even more evident who those people are but personal opinion anyway, I would love if their was a documentary or book written about their time.
